Engine Vibrating Noise around 3.5k RPM (issue?)

Hi all!
I have a 2013 FRS (weekend car) with about 14k miles and have recently made aware of a particular vibration / engine noise (possible closer to the passenger side) when I accel / keep around 3500 - 4000 RPM. I am planning on stopping by the dealership before my power train warranty ends this year but was wondering if this is usual? the sound is most notable during 2nd gear 3500-4000 range. The noise resembles knocking? but almost non existant in any other gear. Sound is coming definitely in the engine bay (not transmission). Is this just the sound from vvt? im worried. thank you! Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Car is Stock.:(:(
Sounds similar to this?

hmmmm....... well, your car sounds about like mine.....:iono:

Is this sound that you hear just started ... ??

You say that your exhaust is stock .... ??

You might check to see if anything is lose (heat shields, under panels, anything else that could rattle with engine vibration).

I hear it...sort of like a low pitch gurgle sound. Sounds almost like it could be a normal sound but something about it does not see right. Heard a lot of sounds with my BRZ but not quite that one. No idea what it is.

Ya that doesn't sound right at all....too much vibration, send it to dealer asap since you only have 14k mile.

Out of curiosity... does the sound go away once it's fully warmed up? (driven for about 15-20 minutes)

If you still have the sound generator installed, that may explain why it sounds like it is coming from the passenger side.

-With the clutch in but rolling and 3500 RPM, does it make the noise?
-At a stop and 3500 RPM does it make the sound?
-If you are decelerating and the revs pass through 3500 RPM do you get the noise or is it only while accelerating?

It sounds to me like a sympathetic vibration. something is loose

He got a D on his display, I believe its a automatic.
I got a sound of small spring moving when accelerating before, not sure if is related.

Not sure if it's just the recording, but it sounds very strange compared to my 2017 automatic.

This is actually a normal sound. This is from the sound tube. If you use the 12V outlet cover and cover the sound tube hole in the passenger footwell, the sound goes away.

will try it later on the way home after work thanks for the advice! I assume it works on yours? I read it somewhere where they attribute it to engine pining. thanks!

yo sh*t man you are my hero ! so I went to plug the tube up with the cap found in the compartment on the passenger side and then took it for a ride and the rattles were gone and there were only pure engine sound left! would you mind telling me the theory behind it or was it even a mechanical problem to begin with? I would also assume the tube was connected to the engine so basically I was hearing sounds generated by the engine but what sound was I previously hearing though? intake noise? induction? thanks heaps!

You were hearing an intake nose, but it's piped through so it causes some distortion.

You can thank me by thanking my post :) :thanks:

Done!.

what confuses me though, not many posts regarding this rattles can be found on forum, leading me to think it maybe a more serious issue, such as DI or seals failure?

but I am assuming u had the same rattles on your car as well?

When I heard your noise, I knew exactly what it was. I've had lots of rattles on my car and tracked them down and remedied most of them.

I just dropped my car at the dealer after going back and forth with them and SOA. AT have a vacuum pump for the brakes I believe that goes bad. almost sounds like a screw is floating around. I'm supercharged so I will have to see if SOA will cover it or not
