Note to US FR-S rebadgers.....
The only thing on the back of an 86 is the "T".

How long until Scion becomes cool and they have to revert or be uncool?
|
Wait, Scions aren't cool now?! Were we ever cool or is it only the 86s that are cool? I'm trading in, I'm not driving no lame car.

The Scion brand will forever be painted in the color of douche, despite how good a car the FRS was. In 50 years the very few xBs, iQs and other goofy shit models sold under the Scion name that will have escaped the crusher will be a novelty. The drivers will take them to swap meets and car gatherings where people will laugh and marvel, "Can you believe people actually drove around in cars that stupid-looking?" Kind of like AMC Pacers today, where it's so ugly it's cool.
At that point having your 86 badged as a Scion might score some geek points, but most people won't care. |

Just need the airbag, but I really don't want to spend 600+ on that. |
Even the Toyota badge isn't cool. I'm rebadging my 86 to the 86 Loden emblem at the front and GT86 at the back
|
Another reason why I went with the BRZ

I do not understand the re-badge away from scion. Eventually people will want the scion version cause they weren't made for a very long time.

No, there really is no reason except vanity (says the guy with a Vanity plate, but I'm not trying to fool myself).
The people that don't know the car, don't notice the badge-swap and even if they do, don't care. The people that DO know the car, know it's a badge swap and aren't fooled or impressed. Might as well donate the money to the charity of your choice so it'll at least do some good. I don't even think it's of the same level as a wheel swap. Even if it's purely aesthetic, wheels are the shoes of the car and lend personality. Badge swap is like stick-on air vents - it's the equivalent of wearing a pin on your jacket. :D :D |

Who are you trying to impress? I had a cheap-ass Scion (yes, I know, Toyota) with Suburu stamped all over it. I now have a cheap ass Toyota. Maybe I need Scion badges and an FR-S front. |
To me this car is a Toyota so i re-badged to Toyota...

as an actual collector car (I lol just at that thought but hey...) I think a 10 series would be more valuable. Scion used California for a test market for at least a year before it was released to the rest of the 49, and being a native Californian, I think that's kind of a cool part of Toyota history. I had actually planned on re-badging to 86, then I found out scion was going away, so am still sporting my scion badges with pride. |

The badges are the nose ring of the car and still add personality even if it is just for the owner too enjoy. I find it amazing that 5 years in and the bloody badges are still such a hot topic. It is just a freakin' badge. |

The fact that they were badged Scion will never, ever make them collectable. Yes, 30 years from now a 10 Series could be worth a couple of dollars more but it will have nothing to do with the Scion badges on it. Could also be valueless since the 18s will be turbo, AWD, with unicorn skin upholstery and full hover technology which would totally destroy the value of the prior models regardless of badge. People seem to think this is the first time a badge went away. It is actually someplace in the hundreds of times it has happened. |
I find it amazing that after three years on the forum, YOU'RE still such a hot topic. You're just a freakin Canadian!
