Subaru WRX Fan just posted a review video of a Series.Yellow and the owner did some really nice (and tasteful) touches in the Interior and I want to know the details! Are you on here? |
all the silver plastic bits painted gloss black to match the stereo surround look realllllly nice... the silver in the interior looks cheap to me, wish someone made "piano gloss black" replacement bits, as i dont really trust paint to last

I did some of the same black interior accents to my '17 last year. I used gloss black 3m vinyl, it's a lot easier than painting. I wouldn't be surprised if this owner did vinyl as well and the reviewer just assumed it was paint.
Center stack Door handles Air vent surrounds (with JDM Auris vents) I still want to do the steering wheel parts black, just haven't gotten around to it. I actually wrapped the shifter ring, but on an automatic it looked weird, so I took it off. http://api.wecouldmove.com/sites/def...4-DSC_0937.jpg |

I have all the silver bits of my interior wrapped in matte white or matte black. |
I plan to replace all the chrome/silver interior bits on my series yellow with the toyota black ones.. Fairly cheap considering new OEM parts.. Looks better than silver but personally i feel the interior already has enough yellow.. Though the yellow ring around inside of shift boot does look neat.
What i really want is the JDM armrest with yellow stitch.. Dunno if that will happen unless i learn to sew.. |

Just get this, it's cheap, it matches the OEM stereo trim perfectly, and it's enough vinyl to do all these parts twice. So if you screw up, you try again. My first tries at vinyl were on this car.

The vent trim is definitely the most annoying part though, I always end up having at least one bubble trapped on the beveled outer edge. |
I want my interior like that. Shoulda been like that stock tbh

Yea I'm planning to just buy the black vent trim to replace mine.
I have enough white going on around the HVAC and shifter trim, just gonna take the easy way out for those vent rings. |

Noting that vinyl isn't a very easy application, has anyone tried Plastidip on interior trim pieces?

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...74A646E9F1.jpg I just bought an OEM replica armrest for $150 new, removed the fake leather on top, bought a redline goods armrest cover (you can order this in yellow stitching with leather or alcantara in any color. My alcantara armrest cover was $75 shipped and it comes with probably triple the padding of the crappy oem armrest. I paid $65 to have a local upholstery shop install it. $290 out the door for an armrest but at the end of the day this is my favorite mod! |

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110267 looks so nice but is a pretty involved process... |
subarwrxfan is a great guy and I like his reviews.
The interior looked factory. Really good artistic eye the owner has. I am inspired to do that when I get mine. I normally never mod anything. These touches are classy. vinyl wrapped? Sounds good. Nice thing about that is one can tear it off and re apply if it gets damaged. |
Subaruwrxfan is annoying and constantly begs for money to buy new cars.
|
I like his BRZ videos. Every time he hits the gas you can just see the pure joy on his face. :-)

As far as us doing it again, we certainly would! Again, hit me up on instagram. Lol. However I do agree with the guy that suggested just having it done at a local shop. Most normal collision centers (if actually helpful and not solely focused on money) will gladly help you out, but be careful. Some painters aren't as good as mine. ;) I appreciate all the love for it! |
