Brief "chirp" sound on acceleration

Hi all,

I've done a bunch of searching, but haven't been able to find much regarding a slight "chirp" sound that comes from the front of the car when I quickly stab the throttle when rev matching or quickly accelerating after shifting.

My car is a 2014. Engine mods are OFH and OFT Stage 2 tune. 18.5k miles

I can tell you that the noise isn't coming from the clutch, it's not the rear tires chirping, and climate control is off when I've tested it so it's not the AC clutch. It's also not the normal chirping from the fuel pump.

The car is still under warranty, but with all of the quirks this chassis has I'd like to know if this is normal or if this is something that I should make a warranty claim on. I don't have a sound clip now, but I could try to record one tonight.

Thanks.

My flywheel used to chirp in a Mini. It was glazed all to shit

I recently installed a UEL header and OFT stage 2 tune also and noticed the same chirp. It's only at WOT that I hear it though after the car upshifts(Auto).
Figured it was just a new noise to get used to from the header/tune.
Pretty sure it's normal: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70903

Definitely not a woosh. I'd describe it more like a belt is momentarily slipping for a fraction of a second.

Sounds similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqo4...ature=youtu.be

Exactly how mine sounds. A kind of squeak, squeal, chirp, turbo blow off sound.

IMHO you're over-analyzing the noise. It's nothing. Cars make noise

Yep, Ill have to agree with guybo ....... this time ......:D

Seems this person had a similar issue, but no follow up.

Looks like the noise is tip in knock. I don't remember if this was there before the tune or not, but it seems to be what it is

What funny about it? The car is under 3 years old and less than 36,000 miles. Modifying your car doesn't nullify your warranty.

Perhaps, but I personally wouldn't want to jump through all the extra hoops to prove that your modification was not the cause of the issue. Any chance you think the chirp could be from the couplers/flanges in the OFH from the engine moving under load?

Not me. I was just trying to be helpful.

It's in the clutch master cylinder. Some blame it on the delay valve. In my case the return spring occasionally rattles at about 4200-ish RPM (IIRC, been a while) when it's really hot and only with my foot off of the pedal.

I get tip-in knock when I stab at the throttle from fuel cut. (engine braking) I've learned to ease into it to avoid it. Totally stock.

My car had the same issue! Took it to Toyota and the warranty covered the fix and they told me with was the "high pressure fuel pump". No more chirp for me, I hope that helps a bit

Good luck telling that to any stealership. I don't know about your tune, but with ECUTek and flashing stock, the dealer can tell a ROM was loaded outside of Toyota/Sub.

The #1 rule of dealers, if you modded it, it's the mods that caused the issues and you as a client need to prove it's not.
