Pure Automotive's MoTeC Plug and Play V8 Swap Thread

Hey fellow swap lovers,

I decided to make a separate thread to keep a journal of the V8 electronics swap kit. Here's the situation we have with this car:

The car is currently a running LS swapped FRS. The car has an aftermarket tach, no power steering, no ABS, a crappy working gas guage, and a wonkily working coolant gauge. It's a built LS2 403 stroker, low compression built for nitrous/boost. Currently has a 150 shot making just over 500whp and 550tq.

We are in the process of taking our 100% functional 2JZ swap software and converting it LSX swap software. If you haven't seen it already, here's our 2JZ swap package and how it all works:

I'll be doing some before and after pics of the "old way" of wiring the swap vs our way!

Looking forward to this. Hoping I can sell a lot of my parts to almost cover the cost of motec in the future.

sirsol66 03-28-2017 01:20 PM

Out of curiosity, would this function with a push start car? (i.e. BRZ limited, series 10/ 1.0/ 2.0 FRS, etc.)

ILLSMOQ 03-28-2017 02:09 PM

I'm in for one too.

Yes it does.

Have been eyeing this for a while already. Looking forward to the finished product. Will be one if not the first customer 👍👍👍👍

Well damn...make me number two!

Will this be able to pass an obd2 emissions inspection scan? I know it may be a long shot. I'm in PA and I'm trying figure out how much hassle getting a swapped car to be street legal will be. I know you can do a state inspection referee for engine swaps. Recertification for a vehicle with an engine swap requires CAFE like standards to be followed. Not sure if it's more trouble than it's worth. Insert: #shouldaboughtausedcorvette, #shouldaboughtafactory5cobrakit

No standalone will pass emissions tests.

Refer to the last few posts of this tread

Yeah read that awhile ago. My wishful thinking.

Reserving spot #3. Love the work you did on the 2J swap! I don't need ABS or AC, drift car life....

MurderousPandas 03-29-2017 04:51 PM

How much would this kit run? Or how much is the 2JZ kit? I assume they'd be similar in pricing. My friend has a totaled Camaro which hapoens to have a working LS1 in it still.

2JZ kit is almost $6000. This should be priced comparably.

I'm hoping that includes the motor. We already have a spare LS waiting, i would never pay 6k for just cables, computer, and mounts.

Using Motec, So no, no engine or mounts included. Not including tuning either, but it's the best of the best.

Email me: pureautomotiveperformance@gmail.com

There's a list of questions for building the engine side harness as far as what sensors, etc. Make sure you're familiar with what your engine will have on it sensor and accessory wise.

Has pressure compensation etc been built in? I know this can be a hassle since GM used a few different sensors etc.

Yes, we tested it under different conditions and played with pressure to make sure that it would cycle the compressor properly as well as react in an over-pressurization situation. The easiest/safest way is to use as much of the FRS AC lines as possible, that way the total system fill is as close to stock as possible. We use the FRS pressure sensor as well since it's already pinned into the body harness.

Complete harness, jumper, and m130 in hand, should be installing and starting this week!

ILLSMOQ 04-30-2017 11:10 PM

Nice! Can't wait to see it running!

Flip a coin man...they're both bad ass!

Old harness built by a company a couple years ago vs new plug and play harness. Car ran, but absolutely nothing oem related worked. Now everything works

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y51...psbxv7kgxy.jpg

after the old harness was out, about 30 minutes worth of install on the new harness and did the first start with a bench test firmware. now we can finish the firmware and base map tune in the actual car

Yes, it works with either push start or key in.

As far as I've learned, (my LS plug and play package is already bought and underway) the airbags are controlled almost completed independently by its own controller and will work with stock steering wheel and stock airbag. Motec implements traction control superior to OEM one that with the plug and play package you can control with the stock traction buttons. Additionally, ABS does fully work with this package. TPMS is a good question, I think it still work but not 1000% sure.
