Hole in driver side door
2 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone, so I have been searching like crazy for answers on this but have not been able to find anything. Also maybe I'm using the search on this site wrong but it never seems to work good.
Anyways, I discovered about 2 weeks after purchasing my 2014 FR-S that the driver side door jam has this little hole drilled out in it. I checked the passenger side and there was nothing. There is no plug in this hole just open metal and the inside of the door. Is this a normal thing? Am I missing a rubber plug for it? or does my door have a mysterious hole drilled out for no reason? I'm at work and leaving soon, will post pictures when I get to my car. |

Perhaps it was drilled for PDR and the plug fell out?

It's a breather hole for the crickets .......:D

You must have gotten the glory hole option installed, lucky.

if its in the bottom of the door it might be for drainage. I think the doors already have 2 holes stock for draining water from the door.

Obviously, living where you do, the hole is left over from the anti-carjack gasoline flame thrower nozzle, which was a port-installed option for the Detroit market. |

That is a total hack job - I doubt PDR since it is clear whoever did it did not have a decent drill.
Definitely not factory. Plug it and forget it... |
Maybe they did it to get to the door lock or door handle?

Any home center will have a plug that should fit it (they are for electrical knock outs). Throw a bead of silicone around it before you shove it in and all is good. https://www.stockcap.com/store/image...ctor-plugs.jpg |

Damn. Someone did a hack job on that. Put something over the exposed area and plug it like tcoat said

@Detroiter > Detroit > 20mm anti tank round.
YIKES - things are getting rough in Detroit ......:eyebulge: humfrz |
by chance do you know if your car had some paintless dent repair done on the door panel? I know they will sometimes drill a hole so they can push dents out but that is a really crappy job if they couldn't even fill it up...I had this done one time on my first FRS when it had a dent on the trunk but my guy put some sealant and plugged it up afterwards.

When I had a door ding taken out of my passenger side door, my buddy did not need to drill any holes. He went in from the top through the window channel.

maybe there is some grass and candy from the previous owner dude...

Perhaps prior owner smuggled items in there? I'd be curious to see if anything is odd behind the interior panel? May want to look to play it safe...

I can tell you with near certainty what the hole in the door is. I have a hole myself.
It was drilled by dent shop. I had someone gave me a nasty dent to my car with a car door near the fuel nozzle area. The body shop was concerned that the most effective and safe way to remove the dent was by drilling a small hole to allow the rods under the panels to properly push out dent. Doing it from the exterior had a potential of damaging the panel and fracturing the paint. Make sure it's plugged up. Nothing to worry about. |

So either my car has had PDR done or it has some form of sketchy Detroitness going on with it:D Either way I'll rust proof it and plug it so no further damage occurs.
Thanks guys! |

Really. I am probably on enough watch lists for my search history. Don't need Customs and Immigration wondering as well. |
