Those of you that ordered your FR-S
I'm trying to get a ballpark answer of how long it generally takes from the point of ordering your exact car to you signing the paperwork. I called and asked many dealerships and they've said sometimes they order a car and it will be there in a week or two or some up to 2 months.
I live in the Southwest (Houston) and I just want to know how long you all waited after you placed your order? I suppose region doesn't matter. Anticipation is killing me  |
i ordered mine last Saturday they said 2 to 4 weeks i live in Beaumont

took me about 2-3 weeks...but depends also on the volume that is being pushed to your dealer. if it's a low volume dealer it could take some time
|
Shoot I can handle 2 to 4 weeks. I do sort of have a hookup though. So maybe 1-2 weeks.
|
I ordered my Blue MT FR-S on 5/29 and it was delivered on 7/11. So about 6 weeks.
|
ordered a firestorm AT here in NC at Leith on 6/28 and was told about 90 days, plus or minus 30.
getbent you ordered from Leith toyota also right? |
I want to order the Firestorm A/T in Houston also and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the feedback.
What dealer were you looking at? I didn't want to pay over MSRP and didn't want a dealer charging way more than usual on the dealer "fees". |

Smitty, yes that is correct. It was special ordered with zero options.
|
orderd my fully loaded toyota gt 86 yesterday and they said dec. 2012 or jan. 2013
|
i ordered a basic model 86 on 6/28 and i was told i will get it on 9/27 maximum
|
Was a week between the day I placed the deposit and the day I picked up the car.

I had to get a few options I wasn't interested in bc that's what was available. Plan in ripping off the paint film too, but I doubt that will be salvageable. Oh well. |
2 months for me, I had to stand in line behind many others for a car, but i think I'm next :)
From what I've been seeing is that people are now starting to get 6-7month (dec/Jan) wait times because 2012 production is getting sold quickly |
I heard you have better luck if you order from a high volume dealership.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus on Jelly Bean |
I ordered my Asphalt Mt Frs on June 21 and I got it 2 weeks later
|
its been almost 4 weeks for me so far for a Whiteout M/T.. no updates since I placed my order though except that it may be months
Also just keep an eye on cars.com, plenty plenty of unspoken for FR-S's are popping up on there. I would definitely already have one if I wasn't so picky on color. |
6 weeks for me. 5/15 was when I placed my order. 6/30 is when I took delivery.

I've been hunting myself in addition to the dealer order and searching locally. I usually call state local-ish dealers (300 miles or so) and if they have any I notify my city local dealer who has my order to see if they can swap. No luck yet. Just hope it happens before November or Ill have to resubmit my order with a different dealer if/when I move to my new duty station. Then the wait starts over. :( |
I ordered on 7/13 and was told it would be 3-4 weeks.
|
I ordered 7/11 and was told next week, then corrected to about 4 weeks. The original car they thought they'd get is going to the Insurance Institute for crash testing. Such a shame :( , but maybe it will be a worthy sacrifice for better insurance rates!
|
Ordered on June 18, car arrived July 6. Picked it up July 14.
|
Ordered Mine June 1st still not here :( I work at the dealership and I guess we must not be a top priority since we have only gotten two in since May.
|
Got mine July 12 and its arriving july 17-19, so not long for me. I do know some people that get there's a month after they signed. I'm lucky I guess.
|
Yeah I ordered mine on June 19, with no definite ETA except that it may be months.
|
Lead time
I ordered mine on March 20th ad picked it up on June 22nd. Toyota plans to sell 20,000 2013 model FR-S. In June 2,500 were delivered, I'm guessing that inventory is depleted. I do know that aftermarket accessories are expensive, depending on the price of the 5 axxis model, it may be worth waiting for? Dealers have a "pecking order" (sales volume...years of Toyota sales), find the dealer with most clout and they'll be able to deliver faster...in STL area some got 5 FR-S initially and others got 1. I doubt that dealers are going to trade them away!
|
Good luck, any wait is worth it!

When my dealer called to tell me mine was in, I was there in 15 minutes. |
Six to eight weeks is what I was informed on mine. For some reason they are having a tough time getting manual cars.
|
Depends on the type of order I suppose. Mine is kind of a special order and it's been almost 12 weeks. I ordered it on 4/26 and haven't heard anything yet. I was quoted 3 months, but it looks like it'll be longer.
|
Just FYI, I contacted a bunch of car dealerships when I was first looking, and everything was spoken for (about a month ago). Now those same dealerships are contacting ME and asking if I'm still in the market for an FR-S.
Demand seems to be coming down somewhat. I'm in the SE, YMMV. |
