D-bag?
So I just drive off in my last night, and I from reading here I knew people would stare at the car/me when at red lights or just on the road. I didn't know I was going to feel so awkward. Now the question is, when people stare at your car what do you do? When at a red light do you just look straight ahead and try to ignor everyone or look around to see if people are looking and when you make eye contact maybe wait for them to say something to you? I feel like a d-bag doing both of thos, I just feel like one (a d-bag) if I look straight because I start thinking that the other person thinks "oh this guys just ignoring us because he has a frs" if I look around I think that people might think "oh this guys a dbag trying to show off new frs" anyone feel like this. I did get a couple reactions last night driving home from the dealer though.
*EDIT* Holy shinanigans! I had no idea this post made no sense at all. I just re-read it and even i had no idea wtf i was saying. I tried to make it make a little more sense now lol. I posted it from my phone before. |

Just go with whatever mood you are in and don't over think it.
|
This is still happening to me on a daily basis. I just smile and wave. Most of the time the responses are positive. :)

But yea, I just look ahead mostly. If I make eye contact I smile but that's about it. I wouldn't think too much into it lol. Sent from HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2 |
Just let people stare. Why do you care what other people are thinking? And if you happened to make eye contact with someone just smile & maybe give a thumbs up if they liking your style. And if it's an attractive female just wink, lol.

This is the only car that has made me anxious to drive since it gets a lot of attention. It's like being on a stage
I just stay focused on the road. Because that's the most fun part about the whole car |
If you feel awkward about all the attention, get some tinted windows.
|
sunglasses = no eye contact ......or does it :iono:

Lol, I made a new one :) http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3q3ej6/

Ha ha, great post. When at a stop light I simply keep busy and play with the radio, this way it's understandable to them if I don't look. Someone had to honk to get me to roll down the window and ask why I bought the BRZ and not the FRS

Ever bought a new shirt/suit you bought because you loved it too much? Remember, how it felt wearing it at work? Yea, now you know why this feeling is the same. |
I also feel awkward about the attention and even though I have tinted glass, random people still ask me to roll down my window to ask questions and stuff.
I don't think your being a dbag on any of those two scenarios. If there's eye contact then just smile. :) |
I like like eye contact....especially with the hot female in other lane.

My wrb sti gets a lot of attention, i just mind my own business and don't look, i feel more comfortable this way

One thing that i did do last night, i was at the drive through at In-n-out (mmmm) and the line curved around some buildings and stuff...the usual for In-n-Out. There was a guy that was waiting in live and my car was facing his driver side. I saw him and the like 4 other people in his car just staring at it. I avoided eye contact as much as possible. Every time i was look up he was just looking at it. He didnt say anything when we did make eye contact though.

I only acknowledge them if they are trying to talk to me. Otherwise, theyre not looking at me, theyre looking at the car.

Honestly haven't thought of it at all until this thread, and this is the last I'll think of it. Might be a generational thing.

I was side by side with Tacoma at the stoplight yesterday. He rolls down his window, and starts taking pictures of my car with his phone. "Ummmmm... ok" I think to myself. So I roll down my window to see if he has questions or something. (I do work at the dealership from which he bought his Tacoma)
He says "Wow, nice Aston Martin" The light went green. :slap: |

Pay attention to driving, not who's looking at you. You'll have more fun driving your FR-S/BRZ.

Don't think too much. It's never good for your health. :)

I get this when riding my bicycle around town (it's unusual to see anyone other than a deliveryman ride a bicycle around the parts of town I ride in). I just try and mind my own business, although sometimes I do think that I should look happier. If however someone smiles/waves and makes a positive comment, I try and smile and wave back (if safe).
|
I use 1 of 2 techniques...I turn wide eyed and stare back, or I turn wide eyed stare back and then slowly move my index finger as far up my nose as possible.
|
Try this:
1) Place left elbow on door (right elbow for you RHD guys) 2) Place head on left hand 3) Pretend you are on a delivery and don't have time for gawkers |
I'll do one of the following, depending on the mood I'm in:
A) Turn my head quickly to whoever is looking at me and slowly smile in the creepiest imaginable way that I can muster B) Turn and wave happily, like a complete lunatic C) Turn, smile, and throw up peace signs with both hands I've found that if I make the situation awkward enough, they'll turn away as quickly as possible or catch onto my attempt to convey that I'm in no way a d-bag and am incredibly friendly. |
I get plenty of attention in my car, too. It's mostly positive, so I give plenty of smiles and "thanks". I've never really had a gar that generated negative attention, at least not that I was aware of. I guess it's all in your attitude!
|
A short head nod or a quick peace sign is all it takes. Yeesh, even I do that for cars/motorcycle riders just on the way to work. The car crop around the area is insane.
|
I don't think I'm ever going to notice anyone looking at my car unless they go out of their way to get my attention. I realized this reading the reaction thread, I never look anywhere but forward at stop lights. I pay no attention to anyone else unless I'm moving, but even then I'm usually looking at their wheels to make sure they're not going to cross the line and hit me. If people want to stare, that's fine, only reason I'd want to know if they were is so I could post in the reaction thread.
|
it sucks that it's mostly dudes staring at me in my car. i did notice a chick staring into my car to see who was driving it, too bad she was with her boyfriend in their golf gti...
