Is this price justified for a NEW series 2.0?

Hey fellow brz/86/frs owners. I'm looking to buy the Series 2.0. Here is what the dealer has to offer me. http://i.imgur.com/yBKxuWn.jpg It's brand new. It's been with the dealer for over 250 days. I made an offer 26.5K excluding taxes and fees. What do you guys think? I personally it's alot for a year old car.
Here is some more detail about their offer. This is in Michigan. 0% APR. The rebate is the college graduate discount. Basically they are giving it to me for 0% APR by making me buy out the interest. So technically the price if I wanted an APR would be around 26.5K~. Interest rates have went up thanks to the political situation. My religion does not allow giving or taking of interest. My offer to them was 26.5K 0%APR with $8000 down. No taxes & fees and no rebate included. Their offer, as it can be seen, is 28.8K no taxes & fees, and no rebate included. Is my offer fair or theirs!? If they call me back, I will make my offer 28K 0%APR taxes and fees & rebate included! What do you all think is a good price for a new Series 2.0?

If that's a manual, Invoice on that car is $28,034. Also looks like on that picture they are giving you the $750 rebate. honestly it isn't a bad deal. 26.5 was horribly unrealistic as the dealer isn't going to want to take an almost $2k bath on a new car unless its a corolla or something very high volume that has massive rebates. You will be hard pressed to get 28k taxes and fees included, as that's an even worse deal for them than your original 26.5k. You are $3k apart right now.

You are better off with buying new 2017 BRZ with PP for the price that they quoted. Its too much to justify for a car thats been sitting around for a year and a half.

It's not a manual. Series 2.0's only came Automatic. The reason why my offer was 28K OTD is because this is a 2016 model and it's standing with the dealer for over 250 days.

Pretty sure there were manual ones? But unless you really dig the interior / frs front bumper.....

2017 BRZ is better even without PP?

26 is a fare price for an 86. Well within rage of what the cars worth. However I wouldn't buy a car thats been sitting that long and me myself wouldn't buy this car in auto. But 26 the car is well worth it. 30K is where it becomes to much money for little car

Crazy to think you could find an Elise for that money

Thanks man. Yea I think the price is too high. If they call back I will give them an offer of 26K or 27K OTD. If not, I will wait a bit longer for the BRZ and pay a higher down payment. :-)

Also you are right. RS2.0 came in manual as well. Sorry about that. :-)

Sure, a nice shiny 12 year old car. If you search hard enough and find one in rough enough condition.

Gibtronikz 02-21-2017 02:39 PM

I have RS2.0 and its manual

I'm more interested in your religion of not giving or taking interest. Ever?

Tcoat 02-21-2017 04:45 PM

If you want it the price is worth it. If you don't, it isn't.

Yup. Ever. My religion is Islam. The idea is that interest allows the wealthy to take advantage of the less fortunate. At the end of the day, I can only make guesses about the full wisdom on why interest in all of it's forms evil. And I'm not educated enough to be passing any sort of knowledge regarding it. Sorry.

Pushing the boundaries of not talking religion here but it is actually more an interest conversation.

Most religions have an aversion to usary which is considered an extreme, unethical or illegal level of interest on monetary loans. There are several passages in the Christian bible about this (it was the main message of the whole Jesus in the money lending market thing). Didn't know that some considered all lending to meet that classification though.

Your best bet may be to just save the cash for the whole deal. As said already the dealer is not going to drop the price to where they take a beating just because you can't pay interest. The taxes and fees don't just go away when you get them rolled into the price of the car so they are being paid by somebody.

Yup I know Religion talk is strictly prohibited here. That's why I gave a very quick answer and hoped that topic will go away.

You are right, I can probably save up...but I'm worried that I might like the new Supra a lot and then I will end up saving for that. Then there might be another car I like a lot and at the end of the day, I will end up with no car!

That is always a risk. If a new Supra is even going to actually show up (I need official statements from Toyota not clickbait speculation) then it is still a couple of years away at best. If you fall into the waiting for some other car based upon internet "authority" you may very well end up with nothing. You would of course have a pile of cash in the bank though!

My 2.0 is a manual as well. Mine was new and was at the dealer for a while, as most any new 2.0 car will have been at this point. I paid 25.8k before TTT, they should be more willing to move the car at this point.

How much was TTT? Depending on the state taxes and fees you could be very close to the $28K all in price that has been offered.

Yes, it was right around $28k out the door so OP should be able to make a deal.....although it sounds like he wants 0%APR and that factors into it.

If I may ask, when did you get it?

Last week of last year, dealer had already marked the car down to what I paid- I didn't even have to deal on price.

Right. So the one my dealer has is an auto so I guess it adds a grand right there. Well I guess 26K OTD is asking for too much but I think 27K or even 27.5K OTD is not unreasonable for a car parked there for over 250 days. And it's been test driven quite a bit too. I mean for a new car. 250~ miles. :-/
