Who has future plans to molest their FT-86? (examples inside)
Being that this car will undoubtedly gain a ton of interest from the younger generations I find it hard to believe that there is not going to be a lot of molesting going on when this baby debuts. I'm just curious who plans to wreck the nice stock body moldings, add scoops, spoilers, largest wheels that can fit (diametrically), paint interior trim, Lambo doors, and so on...
Being someone that respects the factory appearance (and resale value) I always find it funny when people do this type of stuff. Ebay has many examples which generally sell for a fraction of what they should sell for. Alright so let's hear it. Who's going to make the FT-86 in their own image? Lastly, whats your thoughts on this type of stuff? Examples... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GC-ZASUKBD...-hatchback.jpg http://www.tuningnews.net/gallery/ve...an-350z-10.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2rqdsvn.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/15f3iaq.jpg http://www.kaliteliresimler.com/data..._Hatchback.jpg http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...stang_rice.jpg |
the third 350z barely passed the rice limit... if they went a lil less hardcore on it, it probably couldve looked decent.....i cant wait to rice my 86. the spoiler is gonna be 6ft high, and my paint will be seen from space. my cars gonna be like las vegas when im drivin' at night lol....jk but i doubt there will be too much rice, cuz ricers usually cant afford a car over 20k
|
You dont even need to ask, no one will say I'll rice out my car, put a ugly body kit on w/ a neon lights and spray paint my dash so I'll look cool on the meets and car shows. You can just look at the persons current car and for sure you'll see the future what they will do to the FT86.
|
you're talking to car enthusiasts here.. maybe a front lip and thats about it... rims too
|
All I may do is fit some wheels if I dont like the factory alloys.... Maybe even a kit.
I dont like vehicles that are over done and riced like those pics above. I hate ugly big chrome rims :barf: |
Looking forward to put a Sparco or Bride in the Driver Seat only....
then aftermarket midget rims. Then in the future a Roll cage or Roll Bar. I don't see how a wing would help seeing as I'll never be able to test it in a wind tunnel. |
rims, coilovers, and as much performance parts as i can afford are the only things i'll be doing.
|
well, my plan for my ft86 :)
light weight 17" rims (staggered sure), coilovers (mostly Greddy cuz had good exp with it), and will try to have 250hp NA mods, and a single/angled exhaust (I Hate dual exhausts, they just don't resimble the jap car for me + extra weight) |

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.....
|
Argh, mein eyes!
|
Rice is never nice.
|
I think it will take a couple years for the used market to pick up, but yes.... Like with all cars, the ricers will come!
That said I really want to do some clean astactic mods on my next car. A nice set of wheels (maybe rays), Huge BBK, exhuast, maybe even a new bumper if I don't love the stock. |
Some car owners should be shot! Once this car has been out for a couple of years, there will be rice!
|
If my car has over 400hp, I will flare the fender (in a good way). I will probably get offset wheels and the rest I would spend under the hood.
Edit: I have always wanted Tein Coilover for my car, so that would be in my list too. |
If i get this car...i demand nice rims and wheels, tints annddd im good.
these cars are crying in pain. |

I wouldn't say molesting my own car.... LOL
Ricaro seats driver and passenger. BBS CS 4 or 5 rims (repainted). Coilovers, Exhaust, and the extra sakura flower design on the rear quarters of the car. Debating whether or not to change the CBA pedels but eh, who looks at them? lol As for the OP's pics. Those are disgusting. :l Especially the lambo doors and gullwings. Gross. |

Dare I say that the Scion version will get riced more than the Subaru version, primarily due to market demographic. For me though? I'll roll it stock until I determine the weak points of the car. If it needs suspension, brake, engine, or ergonomic work, it'll happen to improve the car. I'm past the point in my life where I just mod the car for the sake of modding it. |

I will leave the car stock and wait to see what area I want to upgrade or when something breaks. |
People can definitely over-do it, non functional scoops, huge overzealous body kits and spoilers, weird colored wheels and body... yuck. Maybe a nice front lip spoiler if I think it needs it (which looking at it now probably not), nice wheels and tires, possibly full exhaust, coilovers/lowering springs (which again I may not need), HID's if they dont come factory, engine mods?
|
That 2nd pic with the 350z
thats a Veilside V3 wide body kit While the look is a bit outrageous I think it looks good and I've seen one in person its pretty eye catching For me its gonna be a trunk deck lip/spoiler, front lip and maybe a cf hood but thats all I plan to do for the looks department deff gonna do some engine, wheels/rims and suspension parts too depending on whatever the announce tomorrow |

Tein are great too (I know a friend of mine, has GD sti, and has tein for over 5 years now and still strong) Japan do care about quality :D |
Window tint due to our EVIL California sun. That's all.

greddy doesnt make shocks for starters. all of the japanese companies usually just relabel cheap chinese shocks. tein is the only company from japan that tests and makes shocks in house |

I believe Apex'i is all in house |
ummm ?? but the one I got was shipped directly from japan and the lable was saying "Made in Japan" too?
|
I guess I'm going to be the first one to rice my ft-86 because I don't really see anything wrong with those 350Z pics

who else does?
|
As for the looks department goes, ill probably keep it very basic for a while. Tints, rims, lip, and possibly a diffuser if anything quality comes out.
|
Lets see,
-Welded on muffler -Aftermarket headers -Cold air intake -Lowering springs on stock struts -Aftermarket headers -Limo tint -GT wing -Altezza taillights -Carbon fiber hood -Purple HIDs -Body kit -Chrome rims -'Racing' seats -Maybe lambo doors? The list just goes on and on and on... Edit: Forgot the interfooler. |

Yeah, I don't understand CF hood as being 'ricer' either.
CF STYLED hood, yes... But a real CF hood has actual uses, including (for practical daily drivers) heat dissipation in keeping the engine bay cooler. Edit: and body kits. Some kits out there are not only practical for providing downforce, but are just down right gorgeous. The J-blood and Origin kits for the AE86 come to mind. |

CF hoods are definitely rice, as they have little to no function. Most "CF" hoods are fiberglass with carbon fiber layered over it. You dont buy it for performance, you but it for looks.. and unless your car isnt modern, youre looking at weight savings of 10-15 lbs at most, for a part that costs 700 if its a quality piece.
Dont get me wrong, they look cool, and so do lips(sometimes) and those have no performance value either. CF doors on the other hand.. I disagree on the racing seats being rice however. A quality seat offers weight reduction of up to 30 lbs per seat, provides a safer racing experience, and allows you to take corners without sliding out of your seat. They are almost mandatory if youre into racing at circuits. In fact, I believe it is mandatory in some classes to have a 5 point, and thats only achievable with a racing seat.. |
