Does the Brz/frs/86 still draw attention?

So I use to own a Brz and my cousin the frs, when It was still fresh into the american market, and I had plenty of people asking about it, or guys and girls just staring it down. 5 years later is that still the same factor or is it getting less attention than it use to.

Hello, there Honghac04 and welcome to posting to ...... The Forum ......

I've had my FR-S for about 4 years and it is essentially stock.

I still get about 2-3 favorable comments a week ...... and during the winter, I just drive around town.

The folks in my neighborhood call me the guy with the "cool sports car".

Just yesterday several boys were walking by my opened garage door and commented that my FR-S was "neat".

The pretty girl at the pharmacy always ask if I was driving my "sports car".

Several young folks at the Jack-in-the box drive through, will ask if it's a FR-S or BRZ.

Understand that Puyallup is a cow town of only about 40,000 people and I've only seen 2 other twins in this town. ...... mostly pick-up tracks and soccer moms in SUVs.......:D

Over time it will probably draw less attention as it loses the novelty and the ones on road start to really show their age.

However, it's a very nice looking car and that's not going to change. Decades from now, I can imagine a very well maintained twin commanding attention.

finch1750 02-12-2017 09:08 PM

Depends where you live. I usually see at least one everytime I leave the house. If i go to the bay area I see at least 10. Novelty wears off

FR-Sky 02-12-2017 09:10 PM

if u have different body kit .....or wing ....or wide body....

kmbkk 02-12-2017 10:23 PM

I took my car the get detailed last weekend. One of the guys was detailing another car, and when he finished he came straight over to me. He was drooling all over it and asked me about all my mods. So yeah, it still draws attention after almost 5 years.

Ultramaroon 02-12-2017 10:32 PM

Attracts dudes like moths to a light.

PNW-BRZ 02-12-2017 10:37 PM

It really depends on the Car. I've had a Grey BRZ for a couple of years and I'm getting less compliments then a year or two back. Son just picked up a Yellow Series 1 FR-S, and that thing gets looks and compliments each time he's out.

soulreapersteve 02-12-2017 10:43 PM

Hell yes it does. I suppose if you live in a well populated area, it becomes "less rare". Even living in Seattle and working in an area with very expensive luxury cars, I still get looks my way. Last week, some dude stopped in the middle of a cross walk, pulled out his phone, and started taking pics. I'm just like.... >_> seriously??

HKz 02-12-2017 10:55 PM

sure, it gets the looks but who cares, it ain't a chick magnet

nzer 02-12-2017 11:00 PM

Yes, this my TRD GT86 on display with @Tech's TRD86 and a 2017 TRD86 yesterday at the New Zealand Grand Prix - run in Toyota TRS cars.

This was early in the day.

For some reason, guys at the meet look at mine than FRS/BRZ.

In a serious note, FRS is still a cool car and got lot of people attention.

funwheeldrive 02-12-2017 11:19 PM

Little kids love this car.

Yeah they do. All the kids in my neighborhood always stop playing to look and start yelling "I like your car" and
ask for a burn out or to rev the engine. Those are future sports car owners there....or whatever "sporty" self driving cars will be.

Though I will say having meets draws attention (and not the bad kind) when there are 20-50 hanging out at night in all levels of sotck and modded

These cars get riced way more than civics do.

Maybe out your way. I've yet to see one around my neck of the woods that is on the street and riced out. My guess its a very low percentage that have fallen into that category.

Of course the same can be said for Civics I suppose. Of the approximate 16,500,000 that Honda has sold since 1972, if only a small percentage have been modified to that extent that's still a lot of cars.

8RZ 02-13-2017 09:09 AM

Yeah my car has broken a few necks driving around town lol.

Summerwolf 02-13-2017 09:47 AM

They're rare enough that they get looked at when driving. If someone initiates a conversation, and knows about cars still expect the whole "looks great but they're so slow" OR "I bet that thing moves with the turbo motor huh?" comments. People still don't know a thing about this car.

Unfortunately this car is famous for shitty wide body kits and stance nation. :paddle:

NOHOME 02-13-2017 09:52 AM

I doubt the average person, male or female would take any notice of the Twins over any other car in the lot. Cars today are all pretty much the same to civilians. Five years on and other than the odd motorhead, nobody has a clue the car is not just another FWD toaster.

mazeroni 02-13-2017 11:45 AM

Aye, get plenty of looks from Civics / RSXs / TCs / Eclipses (they are all beat to hell) / et all.

Occasionally, someone in a drive thru will look over the car and try to figure out what the hell they are looking at. Few know what it is.

WRX and STI drivers will give a glance, but notice it isn't a BRZ and isn't boosted, then they try to run you off the road because it's the merciful thing.

[100% stock]

With the latest big thumbs up from Kelly Blue Book they'll know you were smart too.

KnightRyderx2 02-13-2017 12:03 PM

Of course it does, and I believe there will always be people that check it out. I know it will fade over time but take a nicely done 240, Civic hatch, or MK3 GTI; they still get checkout.

Was just at a Cars and Coffee this weekend with a few other 86s in a row and everyone stopped to look at every single one of them, more so the supercharged rocket bunny but still. I always get looks driving around town and catch people staring from inside their cars. Once in a while Ill get a "nice car" thrown at me while driving around.

PetrolioBenzina 02-13-2017 01:13 PM

It draws my attention, I could not care less if it's not attractive to someone else.

DarkSunrise 02-13-2017 01:44 PM

^^^^^^

Yep could not agree more. Drive the car you like, not the car everyone else likes. I noticed less strangers randomly approach me to ask about my car than when I first bought it, but who really cares. All that matters is I still love the car and think it looks/drives great.

Carbinebbq 02-13-2017 02:33 PM

I think this will be a classic little car in the coming decades. Not sure if it will stay in production, but who cares... I love this car. It is sporty, but doesn't try too hard. Having it in World Rally Blue doesn't hurt either. Hehe. I get a compliment every now and then, but hey....I bought it for my enjoyment.

NyC Zn6 02-13-2017 05:20 PM

kids and confused older guys love it.

Gunman 02-13-2017 06:25 PM

I got a random "thumbs up" on I-77 saturday, and later that day had the owner of a Mclaren P1 comment, "I bet it's fun to drive". So yeah, I think it still turns heads.

wrxgoose 02-13-2017 08:00 PM

i get lots of dirty looks from mustang drivers. lots of mean mugging.

i also get lots of annoyed looks from pedestrians, since she's so loud.

GT 86 Brah 02-13-2017 08:21 PM
