Reverse lights

Do we have reverse lights on the tail light? I know at the bottom there are lights for reversing but are there any coming out of the tail light? I just got my car back after an accident

No reverse lights in the tail light assemblies, only in the light assembly that is in the diffuser

It's not that bright.

There is a kit where you can move the reverse lights to the rear blinkers. Its part of the tail as turn kit from Diode Dynamics.

Here you go...

They are plenty bright they are just so bloody low they don't do much. You never noticed before you crashed the car?

Probably got rear ended while reversing.

I have an aftermarket backup cam that lits up 4 LEDs when reversing.

Impureclient 02-08-2017 12:34 AM

I just replaced my OEM bulbs with LED. I posted about them in the cosmetic mod section and they are great. here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115118

They look like headlights in the back: https://www.amazon.com/Rayhoo-15-SMD...igh+power+2835

I keep on the brake enough to activate the lights as they are more useful even. Need to get around to installing my backup cam

i have Valenti bc of this. Helps other vehicles notice me. If all else fails, I softly rev twice.

I tend to tap my horn as I back in any car I drive.

yeah as Impureclient said, get the ones he is showing. I did some with ones similar and they are BRIGHT. I also have an aftermarket backup cam that has leds too. So I never have an issue seeing what is behind me and they see me too.

Also changing other lights on your car to brighter led isn't a bad thing too! I change my cab light to an array.. A bit bright, but I like it.

You can also get this kit

I bought the same one a few days ago and just got them last night. I did it because of the suggestion this user had made. Hopefully I'll be able to install it tonight!

Does anyone know the bulb size for the reverse lights? My dome, license plate, trunk, morning running lights are all LED.

The bulb size for reverse lights is 921. Although a 194 bulb size would work there as well.

194 small bulbs won't be bright enough by the way for anyone who wants to try those. I have over 30 of those small license plate bulbs I got for like 10 bucks and they're only good for trunk lights and license plates. You gotta get the the bigger ones with more than 5 LEDs

You can find what each of the lights on the car is on this page. They sell LED replacements for almost all of them too.

I have these 921 LEDs: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...car/1677/4010/. Decently bright, definitely brighter than the stocks and just over twice as bright as my 194 license plate lights, but as others said, the bottom location isn't very helpful.

I've only had this car for 2 months and the back up lights are terrible. I backup into a single wide driveway and seeing it at night is a challenge. My wife mentioned this to me as well. I'll look into the LED's.

Speaking of reverse lights - for those who have already replaced their bulbs: How hard was it to get the stock bulb out of the housing?

I recently picked up some of the LED replacements and with our nice little preview of spring this past week decided I'd get them installed, however I couldn't get the stock bulbs out... Should be just twist and pull correct? I was twisting enough to move the whole bumper and wiggle the car but they wouldn't budge (in either direction). They're not sealed or glued in some way are they? I could try pliers or something but don't want to break the darn things...

Yes, first time i did mine it was tough to get the housing out. Just keep twisting and make sure you're twisting counter clock wise and pulling eventually it'll get loose. I just kept trying and took a lot of elbow grease, but you'll get it eventually. Or just try using some kinda of cloth or something to give you a better grip.

Correct, it was just twist and pull. But it was quite a pain... From what I remember, one of them was really tight, and there just wasn't enough room between the light and the muffler to get a good pull in. They came out with some persistence, and putting them back was even more annoying.

Diode Dynamics makes a great kit

I added their brighter reverse lights soon after getting the car, and it made an enormous difference. They also provide great "how to" videos and great support after the sale. Ended up adding their "Always on Boomerangs", too, and a few other brighter bits for the trunk and interior. Highly recommend those guys!

Just installed my LED reverse lights this evening. Yes twist to the left - maybe a 1/4 turn. You can pull it out when it's loose. I thought I was going to have to get a tool but I was able to get them out by hand.

The LED's are amazingly bright.
