Any ETA on Bilstein coilovers?

I'm trying to be patient ;), but I'm wondering if anyone has any info or any ETA on when Bilstein will come out with some coilovers. I'm specifically looking for the PSS9 or PSS10

lookchris 08-30-2012 03:10 AM

*bump* I'm in SD and waiting for the same deal

CyberDNS 08-30-2012 03:43 AM

Hi,

I wrote an e-mail to Bilstein to ask if and when they will bring coilovers for the GT86. They that that they will bring the B14 and B16, and will begin testing when the first cars will be available in Germany in october. Then the release to the market will be in spring 2013.

gmookher 08-30-2012 09:54 AM

ditto

Hanakuso 08-30-2012 01:35 PM

I do know a few tuners have Bilsteins on there demo cars, but i'm afraid the prices will be much more since they are most likely using the clubsport or something around that price range.

mrha 09-12-2012 11:56 PM

I'm sure a reputable importer can get them for us. The price is quite a bit at $2800!

ayau 01-01-2013 08:16 PM

i just found the spring rates for their b14 coilovers.

We were told maybe March, with emphasis on the "maybe".

if they have the shocks already made and are currently selling them in japan, why wouldn't they bring it to the US? maybe you can't bring japanese R&D coilovers to the US due to different road conditions?

jdzumwalt 01-01-2013 11:15 PM

I have a contact at Bilstein. Word is March, development will be different for the US market than Japan. I'm considering these based on my experience from their off road program.

280 front and 307 lbs. rear sounds like more street less track.

This is gonna be great for DDs who track from time to time, but likely at $2503.43(converting yen) they are not cheap, as is often the case with bilstein, that is w/o strutbar or camber plates; hence why I went GC, but I am indeed a bilstein fan!

yeah, they're the b14 coilovers, which are below the bilstein pss9 and pss10.

i thought the koni inserts weren't available to the public yet. how did you get a set of GC konis?

gmookher 01-02-2013 12:22 AM

running GC race setup..not the street inserts
thats 370lbs front and 430 rear, on the lighter side of what was recommended. I may go firmer after I track it some

got double adjust fronts and single rear dampers
incl camber plates and strutbar and rsm for same price as the b14 above, youre all done incl LCA adjusters

PSS will be out of range for most owners, and unjustifiable unless youre really serious, competitive, or fiscally liberal. I suspect the job will get done pretty well by these GCs I got or by something like a KW3, not sure the platform demands as high end a setup as potentially a $3500 set of bilsteins..

They are NOT available in the USA; yet. ;)

I'd like to know how the PSS10 compare with the Eibach R2.

ICantAffordAnLFA 01-28-2013 08:56 AM

Uk release for B14s is 2nd April, and for the B16s is 25th of May

From the Bilstein horse's mouth

Why did I have to fail german class...

Fizz 01-30-2013 03:40 AM

They have the English version catalogue as well.

Their coilovers would be my first choice if I ever was to upgrade the suspension on my 86. Have them on my current Mitsubishi and they're worth every penny.

ICantAffordAnLFA 05-21-2013 04:41 PM

Euro prices on the bilstein site now.

switchlanez 06-06-2013 01:49 PM

Anyone confirm if these order-able somewere in the world yet?

executivekoala 06-06-2013 02:13 PM

not yet, towards end of year. I had a buddy who actually helped engineer them, they did a lot of testing so it's taking a bit. I work next to the motor sports division where they make/test/ship the coilovers and shocks. I did see a brz out front this week so they were likely testing the product. Hope that helped

Danzzt231 07-29-2013 06:29 AM

There are two version of Bilstein PSS/PSS10 available; Japan version and Euro version.

http://www.bilstein.co.jp/en/spl/86brz.html

Japan version with helper spring and linear spring:
http://www.bilstein.co.jp/en/spl/com..._info_86_1.jpg

Euro version with progressive spring:
http://www.bilstein.co.jp/en/spl/com...romodel_86.jpg

And if someone understand Japanese, maybe this would be worth watching:
http://www.bilstein.co.jp/en/experie...s/imp-brz.html

Perhaps tells us what the Bilstein Japan's engineer has to say about the PSS/BSS developments for GT86/BR-Z.

Also, if you guys look at Bilstein international page the Bilstein PSS/PSS10 is already being listed, but not yet listed on Bilstein USA website.

ICantAffordAnLFA 07-29-2013 02:45 PM

B14s are available in Europe; but not the B16s although they are promised about now.

Litchfield in the UK are doing a bespoke Bilstein damper and I'm hanging on for that.

switchlanez 07-29-2013 03:01 PM

That http://www.bilstein.co.jp/en/spl/86brz.html page is kind of confusing. Shows a max drop of 20mm for B14 then later on the same page it shows a max drop of 30mm for another B14 kit (different part numbers for the same B14 kit name). I must be reading something wrong.

So Bilstein will release dampers, not coilovers, for us to use with our own aftermarket springs? When might that be out? I'd hold out for that also.

ICantAffordAnLFA 07-29-2013 04:46 PM

Afaik b14 and b16 ( non jdm) can both do 30mm drop.

Litchfield product is due anytime.......

Well, I am a Bilstein PSS fan, and I am very excited with its release for GT86/BRZ.

My experience with Bilstein PSS is they are not for mega lowering. Their lowering range is usually very limited, for a good reason. Their height adjustment range is just to get a level ride height at all 4 corners.

I use PSS on my Celica and MK6 Golf. Since my cars are RHD, the Bilstein PSS settings ended up something like this:

Front left lowest setting
Front right highest setting
Rear left highest setting
Rear right 0.5cm lower than highest setting

I always reference my ride height with the side that sits the lowest at the suspension's highest setting. Then the rest of the sides follows by lowering. Obviously different car, different setting. Yet somehow the Celica and Golf ended up getting identical setup.

And once setup like so, the Bilstein PSS rocks! Genuine all-round setup for daily, track work, road trip, etc etc. And always fun to drive with one. I can imagine how it would be on GT86.

Here's some pics of my Golf and Celica with PSS installed and set up.

NOT COILOVERS ..but FIXED PERCH OEM FITMENT

We are working on the details now of our GTWORX/BILSTEIN fixed perch ( OEM FITMENT) shocks. To be used with our BRZ YELLOWS and TARMAC springs. NO firm ETA yet, but development started last December. These will be non damping adjustable, monotube, gas shocks to be used with stock springs OR RCE YELLOWS or TARMAC springs.

This will be a continuation of our already successful GTWORX/BILSTEIN line up which already includes WRX, STI and LEGACY GT platforms.

Stay tuned.

RCE/ GTWORX

OICU812 07-30-2013 01:42 AM

Well this is good to hear. With so much shit that's happened in life I had to put off tarmac coils till next spring. But... Looks like another fantastic option coming.,

RYU 08-18-2013 11:09 AM

^^ Put that on your car NOW :D:D:D

Pls let us know your feedback. I'm particularly interested in the adjustment range. Bilstein have been known to have somewhat of a limited min-max adjustment from what I gather. Not sure if that's true or not.

Think these will be available in the Us by the spring 2014?

AJUSA.com 09-13-2013 01:25 PM

I was told by my Bilstein rep that the ETA is around November of this year.

*crosses fingers :)

Ro_Ja 10-03-2013 06:51 PM

Called Bilstein USA about two weeks ago and this is what they told me:

Bilstein B14 are now available to order in the US.

OEM replacement shocks & struts will be available by mid-November.

B16 will be available by mid-December.
