Front lip/splitter for 2017 BRZ?
 

Hi all,

I think I saw a similar thread but I couldn't find it... Anyways, the thing is that I want to add a simple front lip/splitter to my car. But it seems that currently the only option is the STI lip, which I don't like that much because of those pointy corners.

But they all tell me that they don't fit the 2017 bumper...

Is it actually that different from the previous generation? From they pictures they seem to have the same shape.

I have Bayson R on my car (the cheap eBay crap) and I love it. People love to say bad things about it, but I love mine. I am not sure if it fits the 2017s.

As far as I know the official STI part from Subaru is the only one out for the '17s right now. Shouldn't take too long for the Chinese repros hit eBay, I'd imagine.

Yess! Thank you!! I saw that post many weeks ago but couldn't find it again. I had those images in my mind, but didn't remember how was the fitting. I guess that's what is actually bugging me, I don't know if I'm just told that it doesn't fit because the sellers want to be on the safe side, o because they actually do not fit.

I agree that one may look a bit busy (I guess mostly because of those fins on both sides), that's the reason I was thinking about a splitter (or a "splitter").

Officially, it doesn't fit due to how the template lines up with the bottom of the bumper.

Unofficially, it fits just fine because the width of the bumper didn't change, and nothing's underneath the bumper that would get in the way of the mounting locations.

That's it, really, for the STI lip.

Ok! I just ordered the Devsport lip. We'll see how it goes...

How did it go?

did you see the velox splitter or the Top One motorsports splitter?

It is still in the box waiting to be installed... I didn't have the time yet :/

Sure. I got the Bayson lip also :) Will try both and post pictures (by the end of April).

Another angle of the 2017 STI lip. At first I thought the angles were a little weird but it's grown on me and I think fits in with the rest of the kit.

Also, check out the rear/side angle of the front lip. The angle of the lip really makes this pop.

So just to make sure I understand the situation for the 2017 bumpers...The matter of older lips fitting isn't really a question, and it's just that it needs an updated template for installation. Does that sound correct? Or has the bottom of the bumper changed?

Dealer will tell you that it's different but the dimensions are the same. If you buy a 2016> lip you just won't be able to use the paper templates that come with it. You don't need them anyway, just line the lip up and use the actual holes as the template.

Any updates on a splitter for the 2017 BRZ?

I bought the seibon lip because they said it fit the 2017 but when I received it, we found that it didn’t fit right. Almost, but there is a gap in the center area and a few of the mounting holes do not allow proper attachment to the bumper cover.

I really liked it and was hoping it would work. I sent it back. Anyone know if there are any other carbon options out there? I’m not crazy about the STI lip.

Carbon reproductions makes a 2017 specific lip. I believe it is based off the STI lip though. Also check out the APR front air dam for the 2017 as another carbon lip.

There is already a thread on this where I listed all options and keep the list updated.

Fitment isn't bad, what you would expect from an Ebay lip. Actually looks pretty good, just haven't gotten around to 3M + screwing it in. On the test fit though I was pretty happy with it for ~$100

I really want a whole lip kit, but of course I don’t want to spend too much money because with the roads here, it’s going to get torn up easy. I don’t mind getting a replica lip, but my OCD won’t let me get it without side skirts and rear spats from the same manufacturer. I’ve heard cheap side skirts are bad because they fall off easily due to it being a bigger piece than the others.

Just installed, prob gonna upload a video this week

Devsport splitter with FTR support rods.

I had to drill 4 extra holes (2 on each side) since there was a slight gap on either side. The splitter supposedly fits 2017+ bumpers, but for Just over $100, I can't complain.
