How to go back to stock after FI?

Hi guys. So boyfriends kraftwerks super charger blew up engine in the rocket bunny.

We are going to do an engine swap back to a complete stock engine next week.

How exactly does the "tuning" for this one. My boyfriend wants to go back to factory stock 100%. The dealer I called didn't seem to sure and couldn't give a clear answer.

What is the "tune" bound to? Is that bound to the ECU thing? is it bound to the engine? is it bound to under the dash of the car??? How do we go about putting the car back to factory tune?

How was it tuned before? OFT? Ecutek? Revert back to stock map.

im pretty sure the tune doesnt require the engine to actually be on. Keep the original engine in there and flash back to stock with the car turned on (no ignition) as if you would flash on a new tune.

Dont quote me on this but when i flashed my ECU with the OFT and when my Tuner flashed it with a Delicious tune neither required to have the engine on. Just power.

And sorry to hear about the loss. I saw the post on the FB group. Glad you guys are going to keep the car and just swap the engine.

He is ecutek tune but he took it to a shop to do that.

Would they have his stock map or is there a place we can download it??

I'm pretty sure the stock maps can be downloaded with the ECUtek software, just make sure your boyfriend knows which ECU code is his and match that up.

ECUTek should have the stock map. The tune is internal programming within the ECU. Just reflash the ECU back to stock. I'm curious to see/ hear how exactly the KW kit/ Rotrex SC "blew up" the engine on a conservative tune whilst also only going 25MPH...

Do you even have what is required to hook up to flash this? To be blunt (but sincere) with your track record of concerns and issues I would not attempt to do this yourself. I see a bricked ECU in your future if you do try.

I dont think the engine blew up. From what i gathered from the FB post, they found metal in the oil i think? Which caused the engine to seize up. Part of me feels like it wasnt because of the Supercharger and that something else was going on.

^This. Stock maps are downloaded whenever you update your Ecutek software. It should be in a "subaru" sub-folder, I don't exactly know where off the top of my head. Your tuner should know this.

Sage advice here... Take it to your tuner, they should know what to do.

I have to agree. I'll be brutally honest -- But the fact that both of you are running FI and don't understand the tuning process blows my mind. I wouldn't touch these cars yourselves -- Drop it off at a shop for any and everything and let them handle it.

Ok if its Ecutek tune and it was done by a shop then

1. The ECU that was tuned will contain the tune and the ecutek licience
2. You will need to have an ecutek cable kit to flash the ecu back to stock as e3cu will be locked to ecutek system
3. this will require the ecu to be powered up in car but does not require the engine to run
4. The tuner or person with the ecutek cable kit will have all the stock "tines" to flash back to car. they come with the ecutek software you download to flash.
5. Once the ecutek "stock" tune is flashed to ecu, the ecu is then no longer locked and can be flashed by alternative flash devices . However you will overwrite the ecutek licience if you write with devices other than ecutek.

Short answer, you will need to take it to an ecutek tune shop to flash back to stock,

This man knows  jk.

Anyways, as others had stated take it back to the shop where you got it flashed since the cable they used is bounded to your vehicle.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Do you mind me asking what WHP figure he was at?

The ECUtek cable is not bound to your vehicle.
