2017 BRZ Performance Package DD Build
 

Hey guys! Yesterday I picked up my BRZ w/ performance package, and today I start adding things to it. It is my only car, so I have to keep it comfortable as a daily driver, but it will see track days at least once a month. Previous cars include 08 RX8, '10 Evo, '85 944, '91 E30 M3, and most recently, a 2012 Civic SI. Glad to be back in a RWD platform!

Not sure why you wanted to change those amber side markers so fast. They look fine on my car.

I got the side markers for free from a friend who got the smoked ones instead. I haven't installed them yet since I'm still on the fence about how I feel about the amber

LOL I was joking! Get those damned things off there.

They do look fine on mine but that is the only colour they look good on!

Haha i like the contrast of the amber! Then again I know nothing about how colors work together so I'm probably just stupid

Be ok if there was a whole theme thing going on but when it is just a spot on each side it is distracting.

It looks good on your colour, because that's the only colour you can't really see them on...

Clear on white and silver. Smoked on everything else. People need to check their local laws to make sure they don't need an amber bulb though.

Smoked looked pretty good on mine (white)... Spent $3 for a roll of vinyl and made the cut outs myself (not perfect, but good enough)

Ended up putting the clear side markers on. Pics of those/Perrin exhaust to come!

Speaking of smoked, I'd love a set, but I've heard the Helix ones have pretty bad water issues. Know of any that don't have this issue, or a way to reliably prevent any leakage/fogging?

I'll keep you guys updated on the water issue, its supposed to rain next weekend. I'm don't think it'll be a problem, when I was installing the new side markers there was a white grommet/gasket type thing that looked like it sealed the housing for the LED.

Theyre installed!
For some reason the tips on the exhaust don't line up properly. The left tip is sticking out about an inch more than the right. Gonna play with it later and see what I can do to fix it

The exhaust shop that installed mine had a lil issue with that as well.
Buy that drop in filter and it'll be better!

Are the tips still uneven or did they fix it?

When I got mine done the shop owner told me me they had Lil issue in evening in out. It was fixed.

I got the STI front lip installed today!! It was supposed to be mounted when I took delivery but the factory didn't mount it and the dealer only had the 13-16 lip in stock. They called me this morning that it had arrived so I got it put on during my lunch break at work.

Also I found a parking spot at work where I can see my car from my desk

Debadged! Opticoat is going on tomorrow afternoon

Opticoat is done. The paint looks so much deeper now, it's amazing. It's supposed to rain this weekend and I'm so excited to see the water drops bead off.

After seeing this newfound gloss with opticoat on, I don't think i will want my roof wrapped anymore

This is the only one I've taken so far, about 45 minutes after the coat was applied. It was done by a mobile detailer in my driveway and I got home just before sunset. I'll get some more in direct sunlight tomorrow!

Met a guy that used to own a BRZ that still has his OFT he's gonna sell me for dirt cheap. Looks like I'll eventually be getting headers too after hearing the rumble coming from some of the other 86 guys. Anyone have recommendations for UEL headers?

I was looking at the Gruppe-S header since it seems to be a good design and relatively cheap. But CSG_Mike has me contemplating the ACE header :bonk:

If you haven't figured out the Perrin issue yet, it's likely the mid-pipe that comes directly after the muffler. Because it is v-band on both sides, it can actually be twisted a few degrees in either direction. This will change the angle that the muffler sits, thus changing your tip locations.

There was some light rain in my area and the side markers held up fine.

There was also a sprinkler head that decided the lawn had enough water and started spraying my car instead, the side markers have zero moisture in them, even after 15 minutes of direct water spray onto that area of the car.

The opticoat made wiping it down so easy, i love it.

AYYYYYYYYY he's basically my role model haha, at least 20% of the reason I got a BRZ after driving his when he got it. He drove mine and loved it.


More updates on the car, replaced the dome, trunk, and license plate lights with LEDs, will eventually do the door puddle lights and reverse lights
