Replacing quarter panel

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2a87600358.jpg
So this is what happened to my car making a left turn.

The body shop that I dropped it off at said that the rear quarter panel is going to be replaced. My main concern is looks and stability. If the rear corner panel was replaced, would the car still look the same or will you be able to see the weld points/ where it was cut?. Also, will it drive the same? And will it be as stable as before? All answers are greatly appreciated

You will never know in looks or driving. Will be as good as new.

Mine was similar and also was replaced. All went well and you can't even tell. I had it done at my dealers body shop so the paint was the right paint and it looks great. It took a few return visits to dial in the details though. Look for it I had posted some before pics.

Oh shit I didn't think of that! The whole paint thing I hope they get the right paint!! 2013 white is different from 2014 I believe
The shop did have a gtr fixed up and a Bentley and he said to not worry at all.. but being the kind of person that loves his car more than anything or anyone around him, I'm worried sick. He said possibly 3 weeks. 3 freaking weeks without cruising! The rental options are sad... Nissan micras.. lots of those.. automatic too 😫

Yep, a good body shop will fix it up just fine. It will drive the same.

How in the heck did that happen, by you making a LEFT turn ......????

I wouldn't worry about the how the quarter panel will look unless the body shop is awful. On my Impreza they cut and welded another quarter and when it was done...I couldn't tell where they cut. So, if you actually do see it...that body shop would qualify as rubbish. How it drives, judging from what seems to be damaged...I don't think it should be a problem.

Rental options...yeah any normal rental company is 100% automatic at this point. Micra isn't even the worst option as its the least slow of the really small cars, they could give you a Spark or worse...the Mirage. The Mirage is worse than the bare bones Chevrolet Aveo or the bare bones Dodge Caliber I remember when I started working in rental that time. Heck not too long ago there were some embarrassing spec'd cars like having roll up windows in Toyota Corolla CEs or the VW Jetta with the 2.0L engine, you'd miss any half decent cars after driving those.

I had the same almost EXACT same damage. I will give you a tip. When they put the new bumper on, make sure they blend BOTH sides, else one side looks way off from new bumper. I had to take mine back, get a new insurance quote for the work because Toyota didn't have authorization to do both sides. Looks good now but it was a fight. White Out is a hard color to get right. If they fabricate it right, there will be no weld points. You can't even tell on mine. Welcome to the damn my car just depreciated 4K club!

I don't care about depreciation right now because I genuinely believe that I'm keeping it forever. But crap thanks for that tip!! Blend it as in color wise or the bumper sticks out more

Mine was replaced after someone hit me and you can't even tell. But since then I've gotten my bags and wheels and when I air out I noticed that the side that was replaced sticks out a tad further. Not sure if it was the shop didn't line it up right or it's just super hard to get it the exact same

Quarter panels are non structural and have no impact at all in how the car handles. You could drive around without one and never know the difference.

Did they replace your trunk?

Man I'm freaking paranoid. What if they don't seal the trunk right, and it leaks in and it rusts? What if rust grows inside? 2 weeks they said till I get my car back.. is that how long it took yours ? Or is it Guna take a month.

They gave me a focus with horrible shake and hesitation when accelerating from 0... it's fucking horrible!! I thought jeeps were bad but this is fucking awful.

This was $2K. It will be OK. Cars get fixed up just fine from much worse damage than yours.

The picture doesn't show it well but there is a two inch cut in the metal. It wasn't just some paint damage.

That was the insurance company price. If paying my self I am sure it would have been less. The biggest part of the expense was blending the paint so that you could not see where the work was done. They ended up painting pretty much that whole side of the car to get the blend right. It was comprehensive coverage since the part was moving and hit me I didn't hit it so I only paid $100.

That's reassuring again, thank you!

If it was just a bumper or just replacing a part I would've done it myself. I've done an engine swap on my old Sentra spec v. If I do anything cosmetic, it turns into a disaster.

Back in my youth I did 3 frame off full restorations on old cars but there is not a hope in hell I would tackle these new ones with all the plastic. Plastic and I never seem to get along well.

Oh me too!! Had to make a "mesh grille" for my Sentra spec v, after ruining 3 grilles, tons of chicken wire, lots of tools and many cuts on mine and my girlfriends hands, we gave up. Every time I remind my girlfriend of that grille, she freaks out. She even told me that she had nightmares about it xD. Changing the radiator was a lot easier haha

Do they need to replace your bumper, weld in a new 1/4 panel/ change your tail light, straighten your crash bar and do any other hidden repairs that they need to do to his car? If not then the price doesn't mean a thing. Yours could be a couple of hundred dollars to fix.

That's for him not for me lol I doubt fixing a small dent on my car would cost anywhere near that price. I was just wondering about replacing JUST THE PANEL and not replacing crash bar and tail light etc.. you know out of curiosity in case if some how my quarter panel was damage more than just a dent since I know the panel is a huge part of the car not like fenders or cheap as the bumpers

Well an entire rear quarter is less than $500 a side. just the labor at that point and the paint
