Great Shark Fin pre painted factory color great price

Received my Shark Fin from Visual Garage about 10 days ago and love it. [/URL]http://visualgarage.com/ They don't have FRS/BRZ on their drop down order form but it does work. Just send an email asking and they will confirm for you. Not too tall like some, pre painted to factory color and reasonably priced $69 not including shipping and handling. I would recommend taking a string from the rear emblem to the windshield rear view mirror mount or, better yet, the marker in the middle of the dash to determine perfect front back alignment and marking with removable painters tape.

Feel free to come at me with questions or ask Visual Garage as I found them to be ultra responsive.

GREAT NEWS! I emailed Visual Garage about the upcoming meet and greet in N. Cal and he is giving us a discount off his already low pricing of $69 ($81 with S&H) use discount code VGMJ127 for $5 off so your price is $76 that includes S&H. This is available to anyone on the forum just email sales@visualgarage.com and they will send you an invoice that applies the discount. They aren't sure how long they can afford to offer the discount but I'll update this post when they opt to end the code.

the link you've posted is to the Scion YouTube video? I tried searching 'visual garage' and was brought to their site, but couldn't find the FR-S ones.

marinjim 07-12-2012 03:31 PM

Sorry was a real pain to post. I fixed the link. Re FRS / BRZ not being listed on Visual Garage site you're correct I sent then an inquiry through their website and they confirmed the unit would fit.

shiud 07-12-2012 03:38 PM

cool, thanks!

Lonewolf 07-12-2012 03:42 PM

Thanks for the installed pics.

I still want to see someone put the beat sonic, visual garage, and tom's sharkfin all together at once to do a proper comparison.

Love the red accent on the wheels, did mine a few weeks ago. Really makes the car POP! Great job.

phanguy 07-12-2012 04:33 PM

Most of the pictures are broken! But of the ones that do work... it looks good! I want one for my Ultramarine! :D

86_ZN6 07-12-2012 04:36 PM

nice one jim!!

btw, i got a black one for sale. it's brand new!

$65 shipped

finch1750 07-12-2012 06:28 PM

I really like this one. The otheres I have seen beside Modelista didn't seem right to me. But I'm kinda wishing I had a red one after seeing this pic and the new TRD catelog. Everything looks better on it it seems.

KaliKev 07-12-2012 06:30 PM

Am I the only one that doesn't like the shark fin on this car? It just stands out too much for me.

They are bigger than I would like...but the alternative is the rc car antenna :(

xjohnx 07-12-2012 07:00 PM

is this one big enough to house the GPS antenna for the BRZ?

just86 07-12-2012 07:00 PM

its hard to get any lower profile because it sits over the OEM antenna base which you have a bolt a wire to...the base is only so short so the shark fins are made so they don't look awkward

It actually looks smaller to me than this one. It doesn't spread out as far, but I prefer the VG shark fin. The Beat one just seems too dinky to me. :P

just86 07-12-2012 10:39 PM

i think these are best looking over the top shark fin

yeah but it's like how much? $200++?

smiley424 07-13-2012 12:43 AM

I currently have one on my 2010 Mazda 3 HB and I the paint and build quality are excellent and it flows with the car very well. IMO, it doesn't flow as well on the FR-S.

I like it on my DGM better than the red personally but it still looks good. I think it would look really good in white black and rally blue

How to do the accent strip on wheels?
Was it DIY ? Any close up pics ?

:word:

I notice the "RC car antenna" a lot less than this thing. I think I'd be OK with the short Perrin antenna as long as it was confirmed I'd have decrease in reception. No point in paying for mods that decrease functionality, right?

you can buy red pin-striping tape from a PepBoys are somewhere and just line it around each wheel. Just be sure to clean the surface first before applying and take your time.

I had done this to a set of wheels on my previous car and they held up well, through hand washing, running the car through car washes, etc. And it was definitely a cheaper alternative for getting the "time-attack" look. And it can help save your wheels from minor curb rash.

Sorry for delay in responding. It's pin striping tape from O'Reilly's / Kragen's cost around $8 with plenty tape left over. I was surprised at how well it sticks and is easy to repair if you bump a curb, just cut bad section out and retape.

As to installing use the edge toward the center of the wheel for a guide and apply an inch at a time and it will curve with the wheel. Do make sure the rim is clean. Also the tape attaches better over time and exposure to the sun.:D

Just ordered a 2" Perrin from the Perrin site. I removed the stock antenna previously and replaced it with a black rubber washer and black bolt.

Any info to share about results without the antenna at all and with the 2 inch? Nav and FM reception are my key areas of concern. Sat radio is useless to me.

Sorry didn't use radio before and only once or twice since you might consider asking Visual Garage as they seem to be straight shooters and will give a honest answer.

Ah ha! I'm not the only one who (really) dislikes the Shark! This is considerably better looking!

czar07 08-29-2012 11:17 AM

I got this Antenna, and when I tried to install it today, the OEM base does not fit inside the Shark Fin. If you try pushing the sharkfin down, the OEM base pushes it up.

I think they sent me the wrong one :(

I think you have smaller version. Yes sent you the wrong one

cslntuee 12-02-2012 03:45 PM

After I know the Beat Sonic FRS antenna cannot fit USA Spec Subaru BRZ,
US BRZ have larger base.
http://www.beatsonicusa.com/shark-fin-antennas/toyota-scion/frs/fda43.html
I guess Modellista and Tom's one which come from
Japan might also have same problem. Beat Sonic for BRZ one only can
color match to WRB. (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showpost.php?p=230378&postcount=181).
VG might the only option for BRZ now.
Please let me know is there having any other option.
Thanks.

I want to clarify that the VG Sharfin does fit the BRZ. My problem was the antenna cable sat between the Finn and the base and that made it thicker and thus seemed not to be working. But it DOES work, looks GREAT!

bgibbsunc 12-03-2012 12:35 AM

Beatsonic and the Japan part look better in my opinion.

bgibbsunc 12-03-2012 12:36 AM

I think Beatsonic came out with one that fits brz
