Gnats/Flies in my FRS

Just wondering if it's just my FRS but since the day I took delivery I've noticed at least 15-20 nats or small flies in the interior and trunk area. I wanted to find out where they are coming from but had no luck. I even found 3 dead under the spare tire. The area I park at work or at home doesn't seem to ever have these type of nats/flies.

It's more humorous to me then anything, but i'm wondering if anyone noticed this.

Sigh-on-Rice 07-12-2012 02:56 PM

Not I.

m.box.design 07-12-2012 02:57 PM

Haven't noticed any on the interior. But they're all over my front bumper. x_X

Maybe this is the FR-S/BRZ answer to the Supra JDM Spiders?

*Gnats

RRnold 07-12-2012 03:34 PM

Gnats usually means there was probably some stagnant moisture somewhere in your car. They were probably there while the car was in transport.

This is what i'm worried about. I hope there isn't some puddle of water that would eventually lead to rust. Not sure where else to check other then the trunk

This happened to my civic. I guess there was water in the trunk and it ended up rusting so bad that I ripped a big hole out of the bottom when I got a flat tire and tried to get the spare out.

Perhaps try putting some DampRid in your trunk.

Thanks. I'll pick up some of that tonight and leave it there for a few months. The trunk area is fine since I already lifted the spare out. I'll probably put it in the interior

I did not see on the PDI list anywhere that removing a dead body from the trunk was a standard procedure............. :happyanim:

You sure that isn't a standard feature?

I've noticed if I wash the car and go to sit in it, it sounds like a bucket of water is being poured out from somewhere. I have no idea where the water comes from, but I'm guessing it gets stuck in a body panel somewhere.

This is not good.

December 2012 is rapidly approaching and I think we have stumbled upon the source of the impending armageddon.

Japan, earthquake, radiation...you have Mothra spawning from your trunk! Kill it with fire quickly!

FRSowner 07-12-2012 11:55 PM

It may not be the car. Do you bathe regularly?

Razz 07-13-2012 12:44 AM

Actually, I was thinking someone took a crap in his car.

Unless you've found a leak, this is probably just the sound of fresh unclogged drainage channels doing their thing.

ToxicSneakers 07-13-2012 01:34 AM

Fruit flies for sure. All rice is contaminated with the eggs and when wetted they hatch and buzz around. You'll get used to it but passengers will still complain, until you metal the pedal.

Hanakuso 07-13-2012 02:28 PM

I ended up taking everything out of the interior and trunk. Didn't find anything or water. The last place I could think of is the AC venting would have water.

I ended up getting some damprid and left it in my car. My car doesn't smell moldy or anything but if there is any moisture I hope it takes it away. I called the dealership and they did say some people complain about this. They said they do have gnats around so it could just be that.

Whoa thanks. Took apart the whole trunk trimming but I didn't think of looking in there. Thanks! I'll check tonight.

I just find it weird that there is no signs of water/stains and that I've found gnats in the trunk area and interior area, unless they ship them with the rear seats folded down.

Gen 07-16-2012 10:12 PM

I just found two gnats inside my dome light. That is sealed pretty tight...
