Anyone willing to let me check out/drive their BRZ/FRS?

Hey guys,

Really interested in the 2017 BRZ but there are none to test drive in my area or even look at, time of year I would assume has something to do with that.

I've always been interested in this platform, but can't seem to find any to test drive. Really interested in the BRZ.

Wondering if anyone would let me come by and check out there car and ask some questions, maybe go for a drive, will pay for gas. :D I'm located in Newmarket.

Subaru has some good deals going on for the upcoming Auto show, but would at least like to get a ride in one before I pull the trigger. Prefer a car without any major mods, especially FI lol.

DGM-BRZ 01-09-2017 09:21 PM

Why don't you go to a Subaru dealer in Toronto/Markham? They definitely have some you could test-drive.

Doubt anyone would let some random person drive their car for shits and giggles

Sales guy I talked too at Markham didn't have anything to test drive, Richmond hill didn't either. I don't need to test drive it, just would like to go for drive and ask some questions from a non salesperson perspective.

Will go downtown if I have too but would like to see if anyone around my area.

Maybe you looked broke and they don't want to drive on summer tires in the winter due to safety.

Joking aside regarding the broke part, I am sure the dealer who is willing to accommodate you will be the one to earn your business. Even an earlier MY will drive the same pretty much if they don't have a PDI'd '17.

Maple treated me well with my WRX. If you're single, get a BRZ before you no longer can!

I'll keep looking around. Subaru has an Auto show promotion going on until the end of Feb I believe, so trying to make a decision before then. Markham had like 7 BRZ's there but all customers lol.

If all you're looking for is just to take a peek as you've mentioned, i'm sure any good dealer would give you some time to take a look at an already purchased car sitting out front.
Heavy emphasis on a good dealer.

Come on down to London and you can drive mine around in the snow. Not a 17 but there really isn't any major difference in them when it comes to the actual drive.

I actually had a dealer when they 1st came out in 2013 and I went to test drive one before i bought mine refuse to let me drive one unless they could pull my credit report 1st. When I bought the car I was 23 had fine credit and could easily afford it. So I swallowed back the attitude let them do what they needed to do. Man should of seen the look on the sales managers face when she came back with my credit report. Took it for a drive then she asked if I was ready to buy or not. I replied yes but certainly not from you guys after how you have treated me and I walked out and drove down the road to another dealer and ordered from there.

Took my test drive on a beat to shit 13 that had just been traded in. Cheap ass, knock off wheels with curb rash so bad I don't know how they still held air, bald BALD tires, looked like somebody had jumped on the roof and it smelled like wet dog. Needless to say I had no concern over beating on it during the drive. Pretty sure the sales person peed a little and she was a bit shaky when we came back to the lot. Sure was fun watching her bounce around in the car wearing the tight sweater though.

Yea my guess is they didnt want to let people really test drive them still for what ever reason. They only had the one and it was inside the show room so took them 30 minutes to get it outside so I could even drive it. Got mine back in march 2013. Ordered it in January 2013.

My dealer had 5 or 6 on the lot and the one I first saw in the showroom (the one I bought) but the beat one was right there and available so that was the easiest. Wasn't going to make them haul one up from out back since I really wasn't there shopping for a car but just killing time while my Lancer got serviced next door. Ended up being the most expensive oil change in history!

Thanks for the offer Tcoat, appreciate it, but that's alittle to far for me 😬. Going to try a few more Toyota dealers. 👍

I think Richmond hill Subaru should have a 2016 for you to test drive. Might not be exactly the same as 2017, but you'll be able to get a general idea of the car's performance

illmatic_frs 01-11-2017 02:35 AM

My first test drive i was thoroughly unimpressed. But i read more reviews and got one anyways.

Damn, thats a bit of a risk to take lol. And do you regret buying or you would buy again?

I also wasn't that impressed by my test drive, but still bought it.... no real regrets, except that it's hard to get two toddlers into their car seats in the winter.

Yup and I recently took a look at the 17MY in the showroom. Damn sexy. The amount of attention and conversation I encounter in this car is unparalleled. Just the other day I was outside of a store called Organic Garage, and while walking in the parking lot, an elderly lady got all excited over the car. I think everyone can vouch for the community factor. It's not a douchebag owner type of car. Most 86 owners are classy people. My favorite aspect changes, but right now its the handling. Every turn is a pleasure. I personally was unhappy with the torque dip, so once I did some performance mods I was happy in that department. This is one of those rare cars that comes along once in a while. You're part of a generation by having one.

If I remember I'll take a drive past C&C Subaru and Whitby Toyota to see if they have any available for a test drive. The dealerships are pretty close to each other, and not that far from Newmarket.

I was the same about being underwhelmed but I knew it was due to the typical flat four feel. A week later embracing my VW roots I tried again. Once I learned to appreciate the derpy side of the fa20, all was good.

Don't go to C&C, I went and they try to play me for a fool. I went in asking if I could get an Aozora in late march 2015 and salesperson opened with a price, I thought it was reasonable and accepted (This was done in about 5 minutes). He goes to the manager, lollygag for like half an hour and said the manager didn't approve the price. So I said, you offered a price, I accepted and you try to negotiate in bad faith by "rejecting". Needless to say, 5 minutes after I walked out, they called my cellphone and my house 4-5 times. Scumbag salesman/managers.

If it's just for a test drive, who cares :D

I went back to DVN Toyota for a second test drive with my wife, even though I knew I wasn't buying from them after the first interaction.

Lynxis 01-13-2017 02:55 PM

Test drive a 13-16 MY car and look at it this way: The 2017 is better so if you are satisfied with the older car, then you can order the newer car with no worries that it will be underwhelming.

DVN is just ugh... I got suckered into their marketing and went in looking for a used Yaris. Came out disgusted.

I went to test drive the FRS, they asked me to wait for their "specialist". Waited ~45 minutes, then on the drive the guy went on to say he doesn't understand why anyone would want a small uncomfortable sports car. Tried pressuring me into buying on the spot, even though I told him I wasn't signing anything until I drove a manual (they only had an auto demo... this was spring 2012), the then went on a rant about how manuals are stupid, then tried to tell me I should buy the manual one and test drive it before taking delivery because their manual demo wasn't coming for a few months, and if I didn't like it they would rip up the sale (riiiiight). Then he tried to tell me they had parts in stock to deliver it with 300hp.

I laughed, he kept pressuring for a sale, so I told him there's no way in hell I was buying anything from them after the terrible experience. He was confused as to what I didn't like. I laughed some more and left. Needless to say I didn't buy from them. I did go back a couple days later to show my wife the car (it was literally right around the corner from home), and they had their manual demo by then (so much for "months").

I ended up buying from Weitzes and had a much better experience across the board. Zero pressure, good info, and the sales guy was actually excited about the car.

Wow, what a joke. It's definitely worse than my experience with them. I purposely went on a day they were closed to scope out the used Yaris that I confirmed they had on their lot. After scoping out the car on a Sunday, we went back the week after on a Saturday and their sales guy was pretty quick to greet us but after finding out we wanted to look at that Yaris, he kinda soured and threw us the keys and left.

Oddly enough, never saw him again. We went out there, toured the inside of the car. Waited for him and after 30 mins gave the keys back to the desk and left.

What a place.

My Dad sells Lexuses (Lexii?) and does his best to steer people away from DVN. He's heard too many horror stories of shady behavior and dishonesty involving customers who got taken for an expensive ride.

DVN wanted to sell me a new Series 10 for $2500 bucks more than a new BRZ Sport Tech at MSRP LMFAO!

They also wanted to "gift" me a tracking device just for coming in so I told them to GTFO!

Gatz 01-18-2017 08:40 PM

Sorry, "DVN" stands for Don Valley North, I take it?. I found one Toyota dealership that is willing too let me test drive when roads are clear. Can't wait too finally drive one lol 😂

new2subaru 01-18-2017 09:03 PM

So strange, both dealerships I went to just took a copy of my license and let me drive them away. They didn't even give me a timeline. Nor did they come with me, which I really appreciated! :)

One was a RS2!

BTXP.XD 01-18-2017 09:27 PM

Its funny how you said that, I test drove one in Markham Subaru two weeks ago. I told them I was trading in and they instantly threw the new one at me.
even though I just wanted to see the different, and i specifically told the says i wanted to see the difference first. they still let me test drive it.

Yup, Don Valley North. The dealership at Steeles and Victoria Park.
I had a friend get locked into a contract to buy from them because they misrepresented the form they have her to sign (claimed it was non-contractual and just a standard form).
