2017 BRZ limited wheels are Not Black.
First BRZ limited 2017 with performance package cars delivered today.
both of them are Gunmetal Gray. None of them are black. People are wigging out (rightly so!) as the act of choosing and deciding one's new car color was severely impacted by the change from polished silver accent standard wheels, to the change to all black wheels on the P.Package. Or... the assumed change. Many wanted White paint to give a black and white look, or black on black, or in my case, Wanting black wheels with DGM so that the only gray on the car was the car, not the accessories. well, screw that, they are apparently Gray wheels, painted metallic gunmetal gray. Just a tip for anyone wondering about new OEM wheels. Check the BRZ forum. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111689 |
Why this is a issue? I don't recall any material from subaru or any review where they were black. On all materials they were gray, so this is kinda obvious?
EDIT: apparently on some Subaru website they were listed as black. That reminds me - never trust your dealer lol. |
I have the brochure next to me. Black wheels! Dealer says: black wheels. Video advertisement promotional for PP: black wheels. December 2016 video monitor in the showroom for choosing colors and options, updated to show PP and new interior: Black wheels.

USA Subaru build your own website clearly states "17x7.5-inch Black finish aluminum alloy wheels" under the performance package option. Just FYI
|
Yeah I can understand people being upset. Especially if I had bought a lighter color car to go with the darker wheels.
|
be glad you didn't get hubcaps you ungrateful ingrates
|
|
Anyone know the offset for the wheels for the PP?
|
Anyone know the part number for these?
|
They look way better in gunmetal. I'd be ecstatic if I were to get that surprise

Maybe "gunmetal" was not politically correct enough for USDM docs given all shooting cases, lol. Though then again it shouldn't be "black", but rather afroamericanish to not be racist? :)

86 vs BRZ is depended on local importers, I think that it is different in every country, I don't have any hard data. |

series.yellow
That's odd. So the series.yellow is definitely black, wonder why there is different colors. |
Class action lawsuit.

You bought the wrong car.

Anyone have a weight on these wheels yet?

The UK gets the new BRZ from this spring.. I thought that the changes were cosmetic with some minor tweaks to the spring rates and improved breathing but read that the engine has had some work:
Under the bonnet, the 2.0-litre flat four gets new cylinder blocks, a new camshaft and lighter rocker arms. And only 5bhp increase... going that deep into the engine you would think they could have extracted some more BHP.. |
I thought the EU 86s weren't getting the upgraded engine due to emission standards?

Why yes.....yes I do. 42lbs. for the combo of both wheel and tire. -less 20 lbs for the Primacy and you are left with a wheel that weighs 22 lbs. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1486040489 Edit - yes the 42 is hard to make out on the photo, but its there. |

Pretty nice considering the PP wheel is wider. |

But, mine are still coming off so i can go a little wider in tread, and both OEM rims really suck in a lot. I dont need to poke, but a little less offset wouldnt have hurt. But, the PP rims are my favorite OEM for this car. |

Clean, I'd prefer the black, but I appreciate that the gunmetal finish is likely a good match for all the brake dust I plan to generate.
