BRZ Rear Ended Damage... Totaled?

5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I was involved in a rear end accident Thursday.

I was stopped at a street light and a Jeep Patriot didn't even slow down. Hit me so hard it pushed my car about 4+ feet into a CRV in front of me.

Haven't heard from an adjuster yet. You guys think I'll be saying goodbye?

Almost guaranteed its totaled. Sorry for your loss.

Yea, I've been getting 50/50 from everyone I've talked too.

The only "saving grace" is that airbags didn't deploy.

How messed up are the rear quarter panels? The rest of the stuff (hood/bumpers/front fenders/trunk) is relatively simple to replace. If the rear quarters are damaged, I'd imagine that they have to cut the damage out and weld in new metal. :(

The right rear is pushed in probably an inch, but its not terrible.

hopefully the guy that hit you is properly insured and has enough coverage to pay for your car and the one in front of you. I was once rear ended in traffic and pushed into the car in front of me as well. the kicker on that was that the guy that hit me was underinsured and his policy did not have enough to fully cover me and the car in front of me. it was a pain in the ass to deal with, but I eventually got it sorted out.

I was warned about this.... worst case scenario I have coverage for "underinsured" so I can make a claim with my own insurance to cover the difference.

Haha, we may very well be seeing one. An adjuster went to the tow yard, but couldn't determine if it was totaled or not.

They have asked to have it brought to a shop/salvage yard (where they don't have to pay storage) so they can get around and underneath, to better evaluate the damage.

We shall wait and see I suppose.

Can't tell but if the airbags deployed it is done for sure. Probably even without them actually. As the car depreciates it takes les and less damage to write it off since the margin between value and the costs gets closer and closer.

No airbags delpoyed... And to think. I just solved all my issues with the suspension and exhaust. 6 days later. Kapow! :mad0259:

VIP BRZ 12-20-2016 12:15 PM

Lol who's the one guy that voted its not a write off?

Unfortunately I've seen 86's with much less severe damage qualify as totaled, that's a hefty repair bill.

Zeuseidon 12-23-2016 07:13 PM

Well it looks like I'm saying goodbye to my BRZ :(:(:( Waiting to see if they're going to compensate me enough for the after-market parts. If not, part-out thread to follow...

I don't know what half my days will be like now. Perusing this forum, and researching my next mod is what I do most of my down time! Lol
