Just fixed pricing, lack of factory installed options and dealer markup on dealer installed options. Plus the name/badge of Scion is less inspiring than Toyota which has history and passion behind it (at least it use to).

Ice_Man 04-13-2011 02:04 PM

thx :-)

Want.FR-S 04-13-2011 02:38 PM

Ah shit, hopefully it is not released in Canada as Scion... or simply just rebadge it..

RRnold 04-13-2011 02:40 PM

Fuggg...I knew it!! :mad0259::bs::thumbdown::(:hitcomputer::suicide:

NESW20 04-13-2011 02:43 PM

hmm, next wednesday will interesting, to say the least.

dalli 04-13-2011 02:44 PM

Are regular people like me allowed on the 20th @ 1:40PM for the unveiling ?

It doesn't look like it from this schedule of events. 4/20 is probably only open to the industry/media.

ichitaka05 04-13-2011 02:51 PM

Unless if you have a connection. Which I do... but I don't have time to go NY

Sea1monkey2 04-13-2011 02:53 PM

So your saying that someone more local can have your connection, right?

<---More local

tranzformer 04-13-2011 02:54 PM

Is anyone else surprised by this? I mean I read the rumors and what not, but never thought Toyota Japan would be this dumb/ignorant/short sighted to bring it over as a Scion. I thought it was just some media person trying to create news to stir things up. Just never thought this would actually happen and be a reality.

It almost feels like Toyota broke up with us and said it isn't you, it is us.

LOL I do live in US... but live way, way far from NY.

Perhaps I'll re-quote you again so you can read your own words.

I took that as all previous Scion models had no factory options. I would like to know what factory options you speak of that they lacked?

Obviously we don't know what options yet since it hasn't been released. PM me in another 9-12 months and I will let you know.

Sure fixed pricing might be great for those first 3-4 months when supply is low compared to demand. But once supply has caught up (when many others + myself would buy) I don't want to have fixed pricing. Let the market bear the price. I for one don't mind haggling since I am fairly good at it. Give me a Toyota damnit!

Also when I think of a Scion the first thing I think of is :barf:

If that came true, Toyota sure know how to trick us :bellyroll:

Dark 04-13-2011 03:08 PM

Sweet, that's what I have been waiting for. I was struggling on choosing between Toyota and Subaru. I think the answer is obvious now. Subaru, here I come.

Can we have it the other way a round?

Edit: The pic show the headlight of Concept 2.

Franisco 04-13-2011 03:10 PM

Subaru just made a sale

This article by Edmunds Insideline said that the Subaru might be a Europe only thing. Not sure how good their sources are. But I also will move over towards the Subaru side for sure (a sale from me) if this does come out as a Scion. For me Toyota=Subaru >>>>>>>>>>> Scion.

I'll be at the show and will post up photos as soon as I can after its debut.

I think the only ones who would be surprised are the MGMT! Remember your Geneva thread! :bellyroll:

+1 I want the cleaner version (MKI) to be a Toyota and Scion can have the riced out one (MKII)

Brace for impact people I doubt this is going to be taken lightly by enthusiasts...

You didn't answer my question in that entire paragraph. What factory options? What factory options are you talking about?

You can have an opinion on something, but if you going to make a statement, then make sense about it.

The reliability of a Scion is the same as a Toyota cause it is a Toyota, so I win either way...:)

tranzformer 04-13-2011 03:20 PM

I just want the Hachiroku successor, but I guess Toyota doesn't find us worthy.

You sir, are everywhere it seems. I think you've been to every major Autoshow the FT-86 has been at. Are you a sponsored photographer or are you just a super amazing freelancer running a super amazing forum?

Either way, I eagerly await your next batch of photos.

And as for this Scion Concept, it doesn't mean SHIT. Especially considering since the last autoshow they said the next time we see it, it will be displayed as a Scion Concept. Doesn't mean they have decided who gets it, and what it will look like. It's just a Concept.

Thanks. I missed the part that Subaru had confirmed the US market for sure.

You guys do know, it's not that hard to remove the Scion decals and replace them with Toyota ones, right? RIGHT???

It really isn't a big deal, bring it out with the Solara name, or call it a Hilux, or call it a humvee, just bring it out!

That's not the point, we don't care what it's badged with, what concerns us is the fact that the car will be dumbed down if it's badged as a Scion and will have less options and will almost definitely not have a high-performance version.

Sure, but can you change the soul of the car? The US market tends to get the leftover crap/dumbed down versions of Euro/Japanese cars. If this comes out as a Scion, what are the odds that it doesn't even match the JDM Toyota version?

If it really doesn't matter, I will put Ferrari badge on it. Do you think it matters now?

When did US ver match the JDM ver?

True, not only Toyota, but other brands as well. Now China can get all the exclusive limited edition of high end cars, but the US has got not S**T. Consumer expectation on a brand decides how good the sale is. It was the reason some consumers chose Pontiac Vibe over Toyota Matrix and vice-verse.
