There are a few of us here.

nate89 04-11-2011 03:29 AM

You do realize this is a FT86 forum?...right?

Midship Runabout 04-11-2011 03:42 AM

But its ok to have a poopra thread?

Giccin 04-11-2011 03:46 AM

I mean.. put in the other car sub-forum not the ft-86 general forum. Lol

It does say..

"

Sorry for the confusion. Lol

If I owned an MR-2 it would either be an AW11 or ZZW.....maybe just cause the SW20 is so common amongst enthusiasts....nah, I just have an abnormal love affair with the 4A-GE....and the ZZW was fun as hell to drive.

SUB-FT86 04-11-2011 08:07 AM

I remember the first time I laid eyes on the 91+ MR2, I fell in love with the design. The one before it and after it wasn't good looking IMO. The 91+ had that Ferrari flavor I like.

MF_DEUCE 04-11-2011 03:06 PM

I realize this is NOT an MR2 forum. i was just interested in seeing if there were other MR2 owners following the ft-86 forums...so sorry if i offended you sensitive car enthusiasts.

...and thanks for the link Giccin, i did not see it.

Have a nice day to all FT-86 fans! :)

(even though half the posts are about Supras... heh...)

I think SW20s were my second dream Toyota after the Mk3. (I'm old enough to still believe in my heart, that a car can't be fast unless its light retract. Ah, childhood first car impressions...)

ducatichick 12-04-2012 05:15 PM

Just traded in my 05 MR2 Spyder for a BRZ...

i feel like you and i are the only people in the world who think that the sw20 is the least cool mr2.

hey arent you on club4ag?

Monkey_Boy 12-04-2012 06:24 PM

I have custody of a 2002 MR2 for a couple of years. It's my "trainer" until I get the BRZ. :)

haha as long as youre sporting that racer 5 you might want to install a rollbar

MR2toFRS 12-04-2012 07:23 PM

I had a crimson red '91 MR2 that didnt' pass smog this last May. With over 280,000 miles and a number of cosmetic things wrong the MR2 was retired. I loved her but she had to be put down.

The FR-S came out just in time. I walked into the Toyota dealership on May 5th and put a deposit down on the FRS. My car was the first of their allotment to arrive and I picked it up on May 29th.

The MR2 was such an awesome car (I don't care for the newer MR2 spyder model). One can only hope the FRS will establish itself in my heart like the MR2 did - so far so good but we'll see after 280,000 miles. ;p

UncleFester 12-04-2012 07:40 PM

I had a 92' steel blue turbo. Died at 173k when the timing chain broke.

reeves 12-04-2012 10:24 PM

Still driving my '94 mr2 SW21.. it's my weekend car now that the BRZ is my DD.. 230K miles and still going strong! :)

The RZ Precept 12-04-2012 11:14 PM

I had a 88 MR2 Supercharged (was my first car) with t-tops. Even after driving a 04 WRX and the 13 FRS I still consider the MR2 a personal favorite.. such an amazing machine.

However! I love my FRS<3

msile 12-04-2012 11:39 PM

Yup!

I have a 92 SW20 NA TTop in Black. It's done 290,000kms and still drives great.

Iixii 12-05-2012 11:20 AM

I had a red 91 MR-2 Turbo which was my first car here in the US way back in 1995. It had a t-top. I traded it in when the engine was 'destroyed' after a timing belt/chain was replaced by an incompetent shop. I loved that car!

aced86 12-05-2012 03:41 PM

91 mr2 turbo here . They are great cars and still drive mine in between my fr-s

I put one in my 05 - AutoPower, about $300. It was bolt on for the most part, only had to spend a little time on it with the die grinder...

The roll bar significantly stiffened the chassis. I heard that in doing so, it sort of unbalanced the car front/back and made it even more squirrely. I was going to buy a front sway bar for it but ended up buying the BRZ. Problem solved!

Get a roll bar though - it could save your life!

trdfrs 12-06-2012 02:27 AM

I have a 91 hardtop with a beams swap I'm selling

Karl07 12-06-2012 04:59 AM

Yeah from australia...
1995 sw20 gt that had 59,000kms (about 36,000mi). All original. Until I put a carbon fiber GENUINE TOMS intake AND intake box with pod in. So not just the snorkel.
1986 aw11 on the other end of the spectrum:
Forged ae101 supercharge 4agze, microtech computer, trd suspension and bracing, bigger supercharger, and so much more I can't even go into it right now.
