Buy a BRZ they said

It's a driftcar they say

It will be fun they said

Tcoat 11-15-2016 11:05 AM

The record is a new 2016 that made it about 50 feet off the dealer's lot and got written off!

D_Thissen 11-15-2016 12:03 PM

The problem is, a lot of young people (<25) are buying these cars and think they are Ken Block.

Somerandom18 11-15-2016 12:06 PM

Damn... Told my 2017 about this and she broke into tears.

And we make fun of Mustang drivers?!?!

Lynxis 11-15-2016 12:15 PM

Maybe @im_topher wants to buy it and rebuild it as his next project.

Kimsey47 11-15-2016 12:28 PM

This was a crushing post to view... I mean I'm a total wreck now.

You mean to tell me Monster stickers don't make me a professional racecar driver?

Aw, it's just statistics. The cars are on the road, they're gonna get rekt.

I lived in some weird bubble in the 2000s and a ton of us all had faster cars than the twins back then. We all street raced. We all survived.

I will say though, we did have this one guy who wrecked a couple f-bodies, lol. Once while trying to keep up with a Hyundai Accent in the rain, lol.

Every group has that one guy.

Its those damn airbags that can cost a fortune to replace plus reprogramming it. Body wise if you have the resources and connection you can save $$ someone here lurking will pick that regardless.

If anybody did they just bounced off with no harm done.

Maybe no harm done to the people. The car would be totaled. You can dent this car by pushing on it with your hand.

8RZ 11-15-2016 03:53 PM

Stock car doesn't make enough power to lose traction and plow over people lol.

There are many guys that have bounced off curbs that would disagree with this statement.

86Boyz 11-15-2016 03:58 PM

Should have bought a 86. It is much slower.

The problem is that almost all the people who care about this car have access to the internet and the know how to create an account and shitpost.

This site alone gets over 350,000 hits per month, there's <80k of these things out there. It's not like there's some epidemic of totaled 86's, the reality is warped by the information that gets posted on this site.

You're not driving it hard enough.

Irace86 11-15-2016 07:17 PM

New owner...

Posting to FB while driving, 'Hey Everyone, look what I just bought a few minutes...' **bang** "Ah shit!"

ichitaka05 11-15-2016 07:42 PM

This is why 86/BRZ will never become next S2k and it'll stay as 240sx... which I'm not complaining.

More wreck 86/BRZ = more parts at junk yard I can find

GhostRai 11-15-2016 08:15 PM

Another one crashed in British Columbia :/

Quote:

A young driver lost control of his brand new Subaru. He was traveling on a road that curved to the right, but the driver didn't realize the road was covered in wet leaves. The vehicle then struck a large bolder, and rolled into a school yard, landing upside down. The driver was able to exit the vehicle, and went home to call police.

More like Ryan Tuerck.
Does Ken Block do anything but gymkhana now? I've seen him rally in the past 2 years, but only a few times and he's not that great.

As long as it also doesn't mean more dead or crippled owners.

Its nature of RWD cars it will bite you very hard if you kids don't know how to respect it this is very much the reason why we never got the turbo engine on the Twins, I bet it was also another reason why we didn't get hot version on 240sx as well wrecks like this.

I totally disagree with the whole "nature of RWD" sentiment. It is not the nature of RWD to be any more difficult too drive then any other car and I hate that this myth has developed. My mother drove performance Mustangs and T Birds for decades and never put one in a ditch. My Grandmother drove a 64 Galaxy powered by a 390 and never put it in a ditch (she would have smoked most of you guys by the way). That is on bias ply tires, single cylinder drum brakes, no power steering and not even the hint of a nanny onboard.

Bad driving has nothing to do with what wheels are moving the car it is attitude and experience that cause crashes like this. Probably 1,000 Civics end up like this to every 1 RWD car (Mustangs excluded for obvious reasons).

At least you can salvage some parts.

Most of the damage from what it says is from the front lol people who want those new 2017 tail lights can probably get them cheap off of cars like these.

It's hard to believe, I know! But I did it 30 days after I got mine. Heartbreaking.

These cars are designed to crumple expensively while protecting the frame, mechanicals, and you. My accident didn't total the car and I drove it home without a wobble, even though the damage was just about as bad. The repair job was $7500, and it looks and runs at least as good as new . . .

Most of the crowd-eating Mustang videos I've seen are from them doing rolling burnouts, not hard cornering.

True but in context it doesn't matter how traction was lost just that it was.
