R.I.P. Top Gear....Hello Grand Tour ~ New Trailer

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLtpcxtk4HI"]The Grand Tour: The Trailer - YouTube[/ame]

Honestly...Top Gear is done...I see no way that they can compete with this.

The Gran Tour looks like a movie at some points haha! Insane and looks like it will be amazing!!

Chaetagnath 10-07-2016 08:02 AM

So awesome, can't wait!

why? 10-07-2016 10:21 AM

great trailer. Of course top gear is done. It was done the second that fuckwit fired Clarkson. They were just too stupid to know it yet.

DAEMANO 10-07-2016 10:38 AM

Fanbois...

Summerwolf 10-07-2016 10:45 AM

While it looks good. I highly doubt Top Gear is "done." Many people (including myself) will not get Amazon Prime just for this, and will wait for the DVDs to come out. Top Gear will still be what I watch, especially now that Chris Evans is out.

FX86 10-07-2016 10:51 AM

i wish they brought back top gear USA so i can see tanner foust be a hoonigan and drift everything

Import_Lexus 10-10-2016 02:15 AM

Wow, looks epic

Another new interview about show:

ToySub1946 11-18-2016 05:58 AM

Watched it via file sharing late yesterday.

Highly recommend it.

It's as good as ever.

Well, I mean the three originals, performing in a new venue, are just as fun as in the past.

So what did you think ?

Chaetagnath 11-19-2016 10:19 AM

They picked up right where they left off. It's just as good, if not better than the old top gear

Kiske 11-19-2016 11:41 AM

The only part I didn't like was Mike Skinner. I just didn't find him entertaining. I'd have prefered to hear just Clarkson narrating the lap.

BigFatFlip 11-19-2016 11:50 AM

Just watched the first episode of "The Gran Tour"... kinda meh. It just picks up where the last top gear left off, which both good and bad.

The car/driving segments are as good as ever, but a couple of "joke" segments were really painful to watch. The "guest star" segment sticks out specifically. I get it, it's a joke, they aren't top gear anymore and they aren't doing those types of segments. Same way with the British airforce "fight" with the audience. Just felt like they were trying too hard with the scripted jokes instead of using the chemistry they already have. Hopefully they do a road trip episode soon.

Overall, just felt like a whole lot of the same when they could have tried a whole different show format or things the BBC would not have ever allowed.

Yeah, I loved everything about the episode except for that part haha.

D_Thissen 11-19-2016 12:54 PM

Quick question, don't laugh. I have an Prime account with Amazon.ca. How would I go about watching the program? :(

I think it's not available in Canada yet.

However they said something like in December it will be available world wide and from that point they will release all the episodes on the same time.

Get a tv first. Amazon is good.

9lives 11-24-2016 03:44 AM

Yes Amazon did a great job - the punch paid off.
Good job Clarkson.

john5757 11-26-2016 02:17 PM

Just watched the first to episodes last night and they where amazing in my opinion. I was pretty sure topgear was done once clarkson left but now I am sure, there is no way topgear can even come close

86Boyz 11-28-2016 12:40 PM

episode two was hilarious...can't wait to the see the 3rd episode

rice_classic 11-28-2016 01:06 PM

I'm glad they're back but 3 things are making it kind of awful and I think the 2nd episode was actually worse than what UK TG is delivering.

- Killing of celebrities bit is awful and needs to be eliminated. Joke got old during the first ep.
- Mike Skinner needs to be punted. It's not funny. I know the Brits like to poke fun at 'Muricans but Jeremy's every bit as fat as Mike and Mike's commentary is entirely void of entertainment or value.
- The Test track sucks. It's a large autocross track and hardly something to test super cars on.

I hope they fix some of the weak spots and I'm confident they will as they did that over time with TG UK.

DAEMANO 11-28-2016 02:01 PM

This last episode was pretty bad. Its like they're trying to do "SNL goes on a road trip",with 6/10's comedy writers. Clarkson guys will love it, but car guys will stay with Top Gear UK.

Mr.Impreza 12-09-2016 12:21 PM

I agree with you guys. I have yet to watch episode 3-4 (coming out today)...losing interest.

Too much scripted jokes and lack of cars. Like i like when they go on adventures....but this is a bit way too scripted compared to the Top Gear Adventures.

Also I dislike that every "proper" car review so far has been about extremely expensive cars that nobody can afford.

Like that Aston Martin was stupid. I don't care about it. So far the only decent review was for the BMW M2....but it still wasn't as good as it would of been on Top Gear.

~

This is reminding me a bit of why I started to lose interest in Top Gear around Season 21 when they started to cater more and more mainstream. But even than they still had sensible reviews like the new Miata & BMW I8. Lol sorry I just remember those 2 very well. Anyway they just balanced everything out better.

Even my wife doesn't feel like watching episode 3 after watching the first 2 episodes.
I agree with her...

And the Old Top Gear....I could re-watch episodes many times, but with the Gran Tour I feel like I'll never want t watch these episodes ever again.

Swift 12-09-2016 02:02 PM

Our Prime trial period is almost up, and up until this lastest episode I didn't feel like spending the money. And Amazon video searching etc is super dumb compared to Netflix, and slow.

It seems the gang is back in the groove a little bit better, but I do want more honest reviews on good cars.

They need to stop the stupid 'merican commenting while driving. I am not offended except that it is just dumb. Stop the celebrity BS dying ...just stop.

BigFatFlip 12-09-2016 02:19 PM

Finally got to sit and watch episodes 2 & 3 to be primed for 4 tonight.

Episode 2 was just plain annoying, I couldn't sit through it. Its like they decided they no longer are a car show and are now a (really bad) sketch comedy show. Episode 3 was a little glimmer of hope, perhaps a return to form of some sort, but still didn't feel "authentic" unlike the other road trip episodes (the US and Vietnam trips come to mind).

Also, like others have mentioned, why are they still doing the dead celebrity gag, thought they beat that horse dead on the first episode? Same with the lack of car reviews. I guess Amazon wanted a variety show for the masses, not a car show...

Mr.Impreza 12-14-2016 11:49 AM

I finally got around to watching episode 3 and it was really the first episode I properly enjoyed! This one really reminded me of the old TG layout.

Episode 5 seems like it will be similar to episode 3. I'll have to check out episode 4 soon also.

Guru Woodman 12-14-2016 12:01 PM

I still have mixed feelings after watching episode 4. My biggest peeve is the main feature element of the show. It has barely anything to do with cars and although it's somewhat entertaining at times it is just a heavily scripted piece where 3 guys clown around and end up wrecking whatever they fabricated.
Clarkson's Porsche GT3 vs BMW M4 test was spot on and great to watch, old school TG, just the way I like it.

FX86 12-14-2016 12:14 PM

i'd rather watch the grand tour that top gear uk now...hell i'd rather watch top gear usa if they brought it back instead of the uk because 'murica lol

Azzudien 12-14-2016 01:43 PM

Watched episode 1 and really enjoyed it. Not enough car info though
Watched episode 2 This is a car show?? This one sucked
Watched episode 3 Well some cars came back, but how about some normal cars
Doubt I will watch 4 and beyond

Best Motoring/Hot Version are actually my favorite car motoring programs by far. Love the chemistry especially between Taniguchi, Orido & Tsuchiya. Wish Hot Version was still coming out subbed...very unfortunate. However they have started to sub some videos on youtube....but I like buying the episodes and getting them in high quality and full episodes.
It's also one of those shows you can re-watch anytime. I have almost all the DVDs for the international releases and watch them multiple times.

That aside, next would be the original top gear of course with Jermey, James & Richard.

~

Now, my thoughts so far on Gran Tour.

Episode 1 - Was exciting to see them back. The review is kind of boring.
Episode 2 - This one is just bad.
Episode 3 - It went back to the old format somewhat....however still nothing I enjoyed too much.
Episode 4 - Rubbish as Jeremy would say. Also the reviews on that track kind of suck. Like I don't like the track at all haha.
Episode 5 - Will watch today....excited for this one cause it looks good.
Episode 6 - Haven't watch yet...but looks boring.

So...this being said...overall The Grand Tour is something I'll watch once and never again unlike Top Gear where to this day I can rewatch any episode and enjoy it.

So today I decided to give Season 23 of op Gear a try. I wanted to watch episode 1 first but I heard it was super bad so I thought...like me start with episode 6 (The finale) since they probably did it a bit better compared to episode 1.

Well honestly guys...I enjoyed it more than all the Gran Tour Episodes combined so far. There was a lot of good car reviews and it so pleasing to see the old format. I plan to watch all the episodes now. I know some will probably be bad...but I have high hopes for season 24 now. Matt, Chris Harris & Rory are really great hosts I think and it's nice to see the future of Top Gear in there hands. I think they can pull it off!

does anyone honestly watch the grand tour for serious car reviews? i just watch it to see the dudes act a fool

finch1750 12-27-2016 04:26 PM

Only watched the first 4 episodes. 1 and 2 were meh. I thought the trip being crashed by Hammond doing burnouts was hilarious. I had hope for episode 4 and while Ok it was a bit over the top with the meat car. Though James and Hammonds were good fun to watch. It seems like they dont know when to let a gag die with that celebrity dying bit though.

Plus, I really dislike the new "stig"
