Call me OLD!!??
I just wanted to have a question answered that I have been wondering about for a long time.
What to the stuffed animals hanging from the back of cars mean. You know, those little dirty animals that live hanging from the tow hooks of cars? |

normally found in drift cars
it's some sort of a jdm trend |
okay seriously, some relate to driver skill level, some to what engine they are running, I.e. SR20 red top, black top, you get the idea.
And yes they are usually found on drift cars |
It depends on the area but in the Puget Sound it's commonly seen on modified (usually poorly) cars and is an invitation that they're down "to race". This is what the anti-street racing enforcement officers of Kent WA have identified.

This thread title...
I found it deceiving. >:/ lol |

:laughabove: wannabe evo! :barf:

I've heard it called a "Drift Ornament". I've seen some that were like Chinese food takeout boxes. They're meant to dangle there while the car is drifting. I like to think of them as the JDM equivalent of truck balls.

I have a domo in the rear seats of my car... don't know if that counts. Why? It makes me happy for some reason.

My "crew" and I all have the different dbz charecters hanging from our cara. Regardless of drifting or not. We think it looks good, and when we are all together people like the z-team. Lol. I just wish we all had nismo 370s xD
|
lol I got a small phone key chain of the ghost from Mario hanging on passenger's visor

JDM stands for "Japan(ese) Domestic Market." Just as Japanese LOVE big ol' american cars (and pretty much everything else American), there is a reciprocal love for Japan-only vehicles/trim items (as well as Japanese culture) here in North America. |

Okay I have not clue. :iono: I used to collect stuffed fish myself. And I don't know what stuffed animal we'd use for the BRZ or FRS. :iono: |

So there's a strip of road here in CT that gets packed full of modified cars meeting up in parking lots on Friday and Saturday nights. There's a lot of douchebags and a lot of asshattery.
The other day I went out there with my new FR-S to meet up with some other owners and hopefully find some less douchey folks to chill with. I hadn't been in 6 years since I owned my Evo. I never bothered with my Jeep. I saw this for the first time and they always accompanied a vehicle that was attempting to spin 1 wheel in a parking lot starting from rolling in reverse with a fart-can affixed to the rear. |

The stingray is Sugoi!
Id rock it on the Evo, even if it made me an a$$hat, douschbag, ricer LOL I figure you would have to keep up with me enough to see it, not possible HaHa |

Lol But RRnold explains it. Its "dumb." Other then that... its just a little toy that's kinda screaming when the car goes sideways. Think Anime. |

It's a drift ornament except in an attempt to be "JDM FRESH" people rock it on their FWD econoboxes.
I will admit though, that stingray a few posts up is heartmeltingly adorable. I want it for my rear view mirror |

I see anything dangling from your tow hook or exterior of you car the same manner as I do with those dangling nut sacks. http://southern4x4.com/images/Truck%20Nutz.jpg |

I have a train handle from Japan hanging from my tow
Hook on my KE70.... In general most ornaments hanging off tow hooks r shit but sometimes someone is a bit different and u can appreciate it ... I know pretty much all u say u hate them and fair call.. When douches in riced out fwds with"fart cans" ruin the look if u would call it that, it can only be expected.... But if I was driving along and a done up 240z riding very low had that mustache ride? toy hanging of the back I could enjoy and get a laugh out of it... http://img0.etsystatic.com/000/0/594....354595500.jpg It started with Bosozoku cars.. They would hang tins off the tow hook(can't remember what type of tins)... The car was considered low/cool enough if the tin dragged across the ground or made contact with it.... Then came train hooks and the same thing applied but also as an F-you to police because the train hook had obviously been stolen from a train and the Bosozoku was showing off...http://motormavens.com/emAlbum/album...40Z%20copy.jpg http://motormavens.com/emAlbum/album..._240z_copy.jpg I was given a few as gifts and fitted one to my tow hook as well as the brace handles in the interior of my ke70 to give it a bit more Bosozoku style.. Dunno about the whole fluffy toy thing though... If its funny and original id appreciate it... |

Those ''drift charms'' are cosmetic and dont mean anything more than truck balls do. I have read that they started with Japanese gangs in Japan dragging chains or something metallic (as some form of rebellion), from their cars/motorcycles for some reason. Then it evolved and got popular in the drift scene, then it evolved into spoiled rich white kids, and Asian kids in America hanging dirty stuffed animals. It like how kids hang their pants low past their ass. It started with some hardcore dudes doing it for a reason and it evolved into a metro-sexual homing beacon much like truck balls are redneck looser identifiers.

Says the man in the pink 86........Lol....... I do agree with u for the most part though in regards to the evolution.......... |
