Fun mod.
For the USDM versions the Scion/Toyota iM part numbers are: Part: AIR OUTLET VENT, RIGHT
They may be more expensive than the JDM ones though (I didn't shop around, but at one website, they were like $70 each. |
wow very nice!

That's a pretty good look. I like it.

Yeh this looks sweet! It's on the interior mod list... very cool!

I tried to order the parts to do this mod.
All 4 of the PNs mentioned in this thread have been discontinued in the US. Couldn't order them and no stock on hand. |
Successfully ordered the Auris vents through Amayama after failing to source them domestically.
Instead of using a dremel, I used a utility knife (nice tough metal stanley one) to cut the plastic. I just heated the blade up with a blow torch briefly, made a cut, rinsed/repeat. Much cleaner than a dremel (no shooting plastic shards everywhere), and allowed me to be very precise and have tight tolerances on the tabs that are created via the cuts so the two pieces stay together very strongly. Also, I removed the center vent piece from the vent shroud by taking out the single screw in the back so I could work on the shroud more easily. Less risk of damaging the pretty part and kept the pretty part nice and clean. http://api.wecouldmove.com/sites/def...4-DSC_0937.jpg http://api.wecouldmove.com/sites/def...4-DSC_0987.jpg |
So... this is still not 100% sure, BUT prob work. You guys might not need to import/buy Auris vents. Instead you can buy Toyota iM's vents. iM & Auris uses same interior.
iM interior https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...72adcd0335.jpg Auris interior https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a203d39782.jpg From the looks of it, same design. I'll prob order it later to see if it works w iM vents & report it back. |

Kind late but want to let you know that the 2nd Gen one *2022+ has this exact vent. So, you can just buy it from dealer in a few month or junkyard/ebay in a year. I would keep the original now cuz it’s actually more unique now? [emoji28] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This mod was on my list for some time now.
Funny enough I've purchased the neccessary vents (in EU no problem with availability) like a year ago :) so the last weekend I made my mind. Like @johan write, a sharp knife, hot or not, is a way to go. At least for me it was much faster and less messy than grinding all the plastic away, although i use a dremel with a small sandpaper head to fininsh the sharp edges and round some protruding plastics like on a Figo's photos. Later small adjustments was neccessary to attach outer ring to the new inner vent withinh the correct distance so it will not rub and move freely. Superglue did the rest and voila :) I think it looks pretty good. Thanks @Figo for the tutorial. https://i.imgur.com/r4PsLMKl.jpghttps://i.imgur.com/wIfLHDxl.jpg |
