This is the AC vent from toyota Aruis or Aqua.

Here are the part numbers:

■Auris
運転席側:55680-12280-C0 01 Price: 3,580 (RHD Driver Side / LHD Passenger Side)
助手席側:55680-12290-C0 01 Price: 3,580 (RHD Passenger Side / LHD Driver Side)

■Auqa
運転席側:55011-52010-C0 01 Price: 4,650 (RHD Driver Side / LHD Passenger Side)
助手席側:55012-52010-C0 01 Price: 4,650 (RHD Passenger Side / LHD Driver Side)

If you are in the United States, you can order the parts from: https://www.amayama.com

I ordered the Auris vent because it is cheaper.

Here is the vent that I got:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1472926769
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1472926769
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1472926769

Compare with FRS/BRZ factory vent:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1472926769

Firstly, remove the ring from factory vent. You will need the FRS/BRZ factory ring + Auris/Aqua vent.

Clap A will be the clap to attach the ring to the vent. Clap B is the clap to attach the whole vent to dash.

There are some modifications needed on Clap A.

You might figure out your own way to attach the factory ring to Auris/Aqua Vent (for example super glue).

As long as you keep the Clap B complete, you will not have problem installing the vent back to dash.

Looks great! How's the airflow? Is there any increase/decrease?

Did not feel any difference. Because this vent does not fit the AC pipe on the back as good as the factory vent, technically the airflow should decrease. But the difference is negligible.

amazing i love this custom stuff. just placed an inquiry order for them

Fun mod.

For the USDM versions the Scion/Toyota iM part numbers are:

Part: AIR OUTLET VENT, RIGHT
  • Part Number: 55680-12280-C0
Part: AIR OUTLET VENT, LEFT
  • Part Number: 55680-12290-C0

They may be more expensive than the JDM ones though (I didn't shop around, but at one website, they were like $70 each.

zc06_kisstherain 09-09-2016 11:59 PM

wow very nice!

Ganthrithor 09-11-2016 09:03 PM

Nice, I googled around too and yea seems like $70/each is about right.

Plenty of places to buy them in the US, just google the part numbers DAEMANO listed.

Yeh this looks sweet! It's on the interior mod list... very cool!

johan 11-02-2016 03:02 AM

I tried to order the parts to do this mod.

All 4 of the PNs mentioned in this thread have been discontinued in the US. Couldn't order them and no stock on hand.

johan 12-04-2016 11:13 PM

Successfully ordered the Auris vents through Amayama after failing to source them domestically.

Instead of using a dremel, I used a utility knife (nice tough metal stanley one) to cut the plastic. I just heated the blade up with a blow torch briefly, made a cut, rinsed/repeat. Much cleaner than a dremel (no shooting plastic shards everywhere), and allowed me to be very precise and have tight tolerances on the tabs that are created via the cuts so the two pieces stay together very strongly.

Also, I removed the center vent piece from the vent shroud by taking out the single screw in the back so I could work on the shroud more easily. Less risk of damaging the pretty part and kept the pretty part nice and clean.

So... this is still not 100% sure, BUT prob work. You guys might not need to import/buy Auris vents. Instead you can buy Toyota iM's vents. iM & Auris uses same interior.

iM interior

Auris interior

From the looks of it, same design. I'll prob order it later to see if it works w iM vents & report it back.

You can't. I already tried this. Both version of the vents that were imported to the US have been discontinued by US Toyota. The only way to get them is to import them through Amayama from Japan direct.

You can't as... it won't fit? As they're different sizes? Cuz currently iM is sold in US as Toyota Corolla iM. When I went to local Toyota dealership (for different reason), I saw same vents as Auris was in iM. Which prob means, they should be US part #.

I tried as in, I ordered both sets of USDM part numbers and both were marked as discontinued in the US. You can find them in USDM parts catalogs, like on the websites, and the dealers can see them, but they're out of stock and marked discontinued.

Kind late but want to let you know that the 2nd Gen one *2022+ has this exact vent.

So, you can just buy it from dealer in a few month or junkyard/ebay in a year.

I would keep the original now cuz it’s actually more unique now? [emoji28]

This mod was on my list for some time now.
Funny enough I've purchased the neccessary vents (in EU no problem with availability) like a year ago :) so the last weekend I made my mind.

Like @johan write, a sharp knife, hot or not, is a way to go. At least for me it was much faster and less messy than grinding all the plastic away, although i use a dremel with a small sandpaper head to fininsh the sharp edges and round some protruding plastics like on a Figo's photos. Later small adjustments was neccessary to attach outer ring to the new inner vent withinh the correct distance so it will not rub and move freely. Superglue did the rest and voila :) I think it looks pretty good.

Thanks @Figo for the tutorial.
