Traction control issue, won't turn off

So it was my last run today in autocross, i never turned the car off, i turned traction control off(held 5s) from the beginning. It wasn't until i was already into my first stretch, i noticed my traction control is on. I tried to turn it off during straights, but it just won't. later on, i forgot about the whole thing until we are on the road. I remembered and try to see if i can turn it off while cruising. It didn't. pressing the button many times and tried to hold it down, it just wont turn off... VSC Sport work just fine.

So once we got to a traffic light, i tried again, and this time light came on(trac off) and also held it down for 5 sec to turn it full off, and it worked. I started moving, it worked until i got above 30mph, nothing happened above that, doesn't matter how many time i press it. Drop speed back down, it worked again... my friends in their BRZ/FRS told me they can turn it on while at any speed(we were cruising together).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Edit: additional info. Just got new wheels and tires. TPMS warning light would flash for a bit and then stay solid. This happened while I was driving thinking the car finally figured out there is no sensor on the wheels. Now it flash everytime I start the car and turn solid

It automatically turns on above 30mph... it's not broken.

I've done plenty races with it completely off going way above 30. What do you mean.

That does not help me fix the problem. I'm checking here before taking it to the dealers.

Not when you hold it down for 5secs...

If you hold the button for 5 seconds it is not supposed to turn back on based on vehicle speed.
Mine does not, and I can even turn if OFF above 30 MPH.

Did the OP lift a wheel by chance?
Search 'Ice Mode' and see what you find.

didn't find much in Ice Mode. i almost start to wonder if it had something to do with me swapping wheels/tires from stock. my friends all said they were able to turn it off above 30mph, while i can only do it when we are below 30mph. I wonder what the dealer would say if i take it in, they might blame my wheels, or the lack of TPMS sensor?

Nothing to do with TPMS. Did you get both lights after the 5-second push, or just the skidding car?

Sounds to me like it is working exactly as it should. You can not turn the traction control off while moving and if just it is turned off it comes back on at 30.

Oh and your not having TPMS sensors has nothing to do with it.

Ok, now i read it again, it seems like i can not turn Trac and VSC (hold down button till both light comes on) while moving, and i can only turn Trac off while im traveling below 30. i get it. still don't explain why 4 other BRZ/FRS with me was able to do it :/

Thanks anyway i guess.

I can. The trac light doesn't come on by itself like it would below 30MPH, but if I hold it long enough, they both come on at the same time.

I was talking just the trac since that was what he was referring to all along.

In my car you sure can turn off the Trac and VSC while moving at any speed.
And it will stay off (unless I 'nearly' spin the car on the ice, but that is another story)

The manual and I were referring to just the traction control. He stated in the OP and throughout that it was the traction he was trying to turn off.

WNDSRFR 08-23-2016 11:37 AM

By chance do you guys who can't turn it off at speed have an automatic transmission? Because with a manual transmission I can turn it off at any time at any speed. Just hold the left button (the one labeled OFF) for five seconds and the traction control STAYS off.
