The Dreaded Wait.

With the news that production for Australian GTS 86's seems to have been pushed back to October for maybe November delivery, I am considering giving up on the 86 idea ...... Anyone else in the same boat ??

JiB 07-07-2012 02:45 AM

I am hating the wait right now, but im in for the long haul now.
Im an early adopter and not having it now is killing me!

Captain Snooze 07-07-2012 02:50 AM

You are buying a luxury item. You do not need this car to live. You did not have this car a year ago so what's another few months? Get over it.

Why? Instead of looking forward to getting a car the OP is complaining that s/he can't have it soon. The OP is in the fortunate position of being able to spend +30k for a toy. There are many people who can not afford to do this. A little perspective please.

nix 07-07-2012 03:28 AM

A toy? So it has no functional use now? And $30k is considered a luxury vehicle now in Australia?

You sir are a troll (or a dole bludger/dirty immigrant).

No, what I meant was it is not a requirement to adequate living. I am suggesting both you and the OP have enough food to eat, have somewhere to bed at night, clean water to drink. Therefore a new car is a luxury not a necessity.

Mmmm. I wonder what you base that statement upon. I am none of your suggestions but I have been fortunate enough to travel and see that many people, including many Australians, do not have the means to buy a new car. A dole bludger would not be in a position to purchase a car. And a "dirty immigrant? What is that?
You don't seem to appreciate what you have.

You don't seem to appreciate what you have.

I dont 'need' my 86 (I already have 6 other cars), but it doesnt stop me whining about the fact I have had to wait 2 weeks more than I could have.

I like new toys, the guy was just saying it's disheartening! And I can relate to that!

pr0j 07-07-2012 08:49 PM

longer wait = bigger deposit for me, so I'm not really fussed.

a couple of reasons :)
I like black and white colour schemes & I like the panda Trueno.

Plus they look cool ;)

Wally Simmonds 07-08-2012 12:08 AM

Only a couple of weeks for me to go!

Nafe 07-08-2012 04:08 AM

There is a much longer wait for some cars, so I am not sure why everyone is making such a big deal.
A mate of a mate has apparently been waiting since March or April for a spacecab hilux.....

Correct me if I am wrong.

Some of the sales guys have mentioned it. Whilst they are not TMCA I would expect they have reasonable info

I am right with ya on that.

I waited almost 4 months for a car i had imported and i appreciated the hell out of it when i finally got it.

Possessions are different for different people, hence a car of this nature to one person will have a different meaning to another.

People work hard to afford nice things that other people may consider an unnecessary luxury. Thats life. People will always differ. And here we are.

Good thing is we can all wait in anticipation together and past the time on here. Which i aim to do.

Also from my experience, depending on which port the cars are loaded in, the ship from Japan takes approx 17-21 days to get to Fremantle, not sure on the east coast, but this will also depend on who the shipping agent is and weather funnily enough.

I found tracking my ships journey helped me pass the time also, but it might make it worse for some.

Not long now.

Hi Guys,

I received this letter of update from my dealership first thing this morning. It sheds a little light on what is going on and hopefully they can secure more cars for Australia!! Fourth largest market for the 86 is a decent effort :w00t:.

I have already posted in the dealership section of the forum but cannot give enough praise to John Le Maitre at Hinterland Toyota Robina for continually keeping me up to date with my order and his genuine enthusiasm for the 86. If you still looking for a dealership to deal with at least give him a call and have a chat.

Cheers

davey90 07-09-2012 07:53 PM

Thanks @spr1nter, clears up on the delay side of things!

This delay means I can save up more = win/win xD

but at the same time, i've been driving this car in my sleep...is that wrong? LOL!

If my 86 arrives before then, then buying the motorbike may affect my finance since there would be a recent $14k loan. That being said I can meet double repayments on the Motorbike while still saving an even bigger deposit on the 86.

The other question is... how often will I ride the new Motorbike once I've got my 86?

mmmn, Pearl White.

MY GAWD.... THAT BIKE IS SEX! LOL! :w00t:

+1 with pearl white bikes

not sure about now but there a wait on the R6 as well (depending on color) LOL.. for the raven color that came out last year when I wanted to get one, they advise me that I would have to wait until Sept for one and so I found a nice pearl white scheme one from a country dealer to ship it to me instead :)

You won't do much riding during winter but when summer comes around you will be riding heaps

sho 07-09-2012 11:22 PM

even better if there is stock but at the time I brought mine, there wasn't any in the raven color :(

OOO your one of those riders :D
Most of my mates are seasonal riders as they can't stand the cold on the bike lol

I've been riding around to and from work too rain hail or shine currently as I sold the car a few months back .. beats Sydney traffic when you can split and use bus lanes :)

sho 07-18-2012 09:46 AM

congrats on the purchase :D

is that called raven as well?

I got her this evening. Unfortunately it was raining and the roads were wet!

Brand new motorcycle tyres and wet roads don't mix very well, I think I pissed off some people taking the corners very very slowly and upright. :)

Not to mention the heat coming from the bike caused my glasses to fog up, I think I might need to start wearing contact lenses again.

... now to sell the Ninja 250r!

Specs and how much?

lokvo 07-18-2012 08:43 PM

wow sexy bikes!...and as it pertains to this thread, I'm dying of the wait for my GT 86 blah blah boo hoo.

Hey everyone,

Awesome forum, been reading through over the last few days and finally joined this morning (at work :P )

I visited my local Toyota dealership on Saturday to test drive the 86 and ended up putting a deposit down on the GT (tornado grey) when the salesguy told me the wait for the GTS. He showed me the official memo from Toyota Aus saying 18 month wait for GTS and 2-3 month wait for GT - but he said realistically it could be 4-6 months, which is cool with me as it will give me time to sell my current Focus and save some extra cash.

So it's been about 5 days into the "dreaded wait" and I'm wanting the car more and more every day!! (even went and bought gt5 for the PS3 just so I can drive the 86 with my Logitech steering wheel - it was released as a free download) haha

Anyway I just wanted to ask when should I expect to receive a tracking number or any information as to when I can expect the build of my 86? I called my salesguy a few days after paying the deposit and signing the contract and he said there was no info as of yet - i thought maybe you guys would have an idea of the timeframe in between paying for a deposit and receive tracking information - I understand of course that this timeframe would be different now compared to a few months ago...

It doesn't look like they're selling the Raven colour anymore as they have the Pearl White / Candy Red and Anniversary White editions.

As for price, I won't give exact prices but under $16k for the bike, full year comprehensive insurance and aftermarket exhaust.
The insurance part is a life saver, otherwise I would have paid about $2.5k a year.

it was a 2011 color
my post when mentioned about the wait referred to me buying one last year how they didn't have any available.
:)

2.5k for comp? :eyebulge:
i'm paying 1.1k and I think thats crazy :(

I ordered mine a few days ago, and got my tracking details the next day through email. Check your emails, if it isn't there, call your sales person.

You won't see the expected build date for months so don't be too worry not to get the tracking info instantly

Ok cool, thanks for that - But I am thinking, if I haven't received any tracking info, does that mean that my order has not even been processed? And if this is the case, should I go to another dealer where they will process the order faster?

Doesn't see the point of y ur dealer would do that as they only got the sales ($) after the car was sold to u.....but with the tracking system u can have a peaceful mind.......ask for it, the sales rep need to ask the stock controller to set it up for u....

I ordered a GTS. No dates yet, just told by my dealer 18 months.
Like I said before, call your dealer, and he should clear everything up for you.
