Hey guys, I think we should post all the mods we do in this thread

Bounce 07-07-2012 02:57 AM

Speaking of which, regarding your 19 inch wheels, have you felt how much performance you lost? I was looking at getting 19 inch forgestar CF10s as they don't come in any lower sizes and was advised to stay away from such large wheels on this car.

no i haven't because they used the same tyre size with just a lower profile tyre..if anything it feels smoother on corners now.

i was advised tho 20inch would cause performance loss - anything 3inch or over would cause it apparently as stated on top gear aus comparing stock 19s on a hsv with upgraded 22s made it 0,2 seconds slower..correct me if im wrong but thats how i remember it :/

i kept my old set of wheels anyway for track days if i choose to take them up.

also the car will retain future resale value the guy at the tyre store told me. not that were selling anytime soon tho

nix 07-07-2012 04:25 AM

It's more about weight than size. You would get less rear traction though if the same tyre was tested on both.

Could we start a group buy on the 5axis bootlid spoiler? Anyone in?
I personally think the 5axis bootlid spoiler looks-wise flows much better than the TRD bootlid spoiler.

the globes are h11 i changed mine they simply just pop out and easy to access + easy to install. took 15minutes to put on a hid kit.

blags 07-07-2012 11:22 PM

Exactly what Tibsy said, they are H11 globes and small wedge globes. Simply pop off and chuck the new ones in, took me about 10 min. They are nice and white!

Any tips on where to mount the ballasts for the hids?

stevo_12v 07-08-2012 02:27 AM

Here's the 5axis spoiler in case anyone has NOT seen it.
This is Moto's FR-S
http://i45.tinypic.com/5w9dsl.jpg

As you can see, the spoiler looks MUCH better than the TRD spoiler

I'm gonna email Young(young@fivead.net) @ 5axis and see if any distributorships have been setup yet so us Aussies can get them.

I have tried finding out about getting the 5axis spoiler. Fivead will direct you to contact one of their dealers. I contacted two, who wouldn't deliver to Aus and didn't have them in stock.

Stevo - whether the 5axis looks better is subjective. I personally prefer the TRD spoiler.
Blags - size and specs of wheels?? Look quite good!

I just got an email from Young @ FIVE:AD.
http://i46.tinypic.com/24fjs49.png

I've also emailed 'Blake Herring' too. Hopefully we can get these in Oz!

"ATT: Blake Herring.

I've emailed "Young Tea" from FIVE:AD enquiring about some FIVE:AD products available for the Toyota86/Scion FR-S. (http://i46.tinypic.com/24fjs49.png)

I am interested in the costs of the body kit to be sent to Australia.
Me and a couple of other Aussies here have expressed interest in the FR-S/86 BOOTLID spoiler(http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10917)
I believe most of the Aussies here prefer the look and flow of the FIVE:AD vs the TRD bootlid spoiler.

Just a couple of questions:
1) How much would it cost to have the complete body kit sent to Australia(I'm in Perth, Western Australia)? (TOTAL COST including shipping)
2) How much would it cost to have JUST the BOOTLID Spolier sent to Australia(Perth, WA) - INCLUDING shipping.
3) Do the body kit parts come pre-painted? (My car is a "White Out"/SWP/37J paint colour code) ** I am after "RAVEN'/CBS/D4S paint colour code **
4) Any possibility on a slight reduction in price if there is a 'group buy'??"

I ordered these from an online retailer(Perfectrun.jp).
Apparently they are on back-order and they won't get them until late July(ordered them mid May). They are fairly pricey, around $320 for the pair.

blags 07-10-2012 02:48 AM

I already ordered the TRD boot spoiler. Should be here next week :)

blags 07-11-2012 09:11 AM

TRD oil filter
TRD fuel cap
Apexi Air Filter
Frameless rear view mirror

All on order. Should be here by end of next week hopefully

stevo_12v 07-12-2012 01:40 AM

Update: 5:AD spoiler

contacted Blake(toyotapartsoutlet)
and for a prepainted(D4S/Raver/CBS) bootlid spoiler supplied and shipped to Perth is under $600 (425 for part, 174 for shipping)

Meanwhile, you can order a painted and genuine TRD one from JDM land for roughly $400, which if history shows, will probably be discontinued soon and hold value well.
