Window sticker says 10 series
Bought my 13' frs a while ago used and the dealer has been giving me a bunch of headaches with fixing some things on it. Well when i was looking on my papers they all say frs 10 series and my car is not. should i fight them about this? and it also says its automatic. I think they did that to raise the price

Either that or they owe you a 10 series.
|
I would. Does the VIN match?
|
Anything is possible but im not sure what kind of leverage you can gain with that information, you already purchased the car awhile ago.
|
I would think you have no legal leg to stand on after reading the "While every effort has been made...." portion at the bottom.
|
the vin is correct. and all my papers say 10 series i just didn't post they have my name on them
|
Did they tell you it was a 10 series when you bought it? If so, that's wrong - I'd go in and ask to speak to the sales manager. Say you were told it was a 10 series when you bought it. Show them the window sticker and documents as proof. I'd negotiate for the difference in KBB price between a used base model and the 10 series. That seems like a fair way to resolve this for both sides.
|
All I wanted them to do was fix the front seat and after 3 months going back and forth with them and toyota customer care i gave up.

The fake extended warranty is bad though. Definitely get that squared away (and possibly look into getting a pro-rated refund since $5k sounds insanely high for a warranty). Also don't take this the wrong way but maybe see if you can get a buddy or family member to go in with you to help you keep your cool. I know it's frustrating working with a dishonest dealership but it's not going to help if you start throwing stuff and possibly getting arrested. |
it literally says this on the sticker:
"while every effort has been made to ensure display accurate data, the vehicle listings within this sticker may not reflect all accurate vehicle items." Some dealers are more shady than others-sucks to deal with. The 5k for the warranty went somewhere...find out where. Keep bugging toyota/scion HQ |
I just want to do anything I can to put that place under the bus. So I guess it seems that I cant do anything about it.
And the warranty is 10yr 100k miles powertrain w/ free keys, dent repair, and windsheilds. Is 5k really to much? This was the first car I ever bought from a dealer so was not sure. |

5K is a lot of money for them to say tough tits. Definitely take a friend with you and remember that most often cooler heads prevail. Good luck. |
Your car isn't a repainted 10-Series based off that VIN. I bet your headlights are the "regular" halogen lights despite them listing it has HIDs. Also, I'm sure your HVAC controls are three big knobs instead of the dual digital controls.
That dealership is shady as fcuk imo. |

You can have a 100 year powertrain warranty and if you have an issue with your seats and are under the factory 3 year bumper to bumper, then you are out of luck. It's probably very rare to have an issue with the powertrain on a Toyota. My dealership now offers a no extra charge 20 year/200k powertrain warranty for new/cerified used purchases so that tells me that they know the powertrain is good to go for a while but the full bumper to bumper is where the goods are. In this day and age where the internet can make or break you, why do car dealers do this still? That goes for any business now too. I just went through a fight with ancestry.com stealing $100 from my son in $20 increments that he didn't know was being slowly taken out. I wrote so many bad reviews and complained to the BBB that I know I got our money's worth from them for what they stole. Although they initially gave back only $40, they since have relented and put all the money back. When a business plays games like this you have to stick it to them so bad, they remember you for a loooong time. The internet does not forget. Search their business out online and pile on every bad review you can get into Google my business, Yelp, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, etc, and make a detailed BBB complaint. If they want to do you bad, give it to them tenfold. Of course if this 10 year warranty in question is just a powertrain(with extras that you'll probably never use) and not a full bumper to bumper, I can see why they are denying work. |
ok sorry at that point my car was still under the 3yr 36 original warranty- just ran out last month actually.
Ya so after all that happened I went on google and write a review and found many others that had the same issue with them not doing warranty papers and adding random charges to final cost. I have called them many times and they always say manager is at a meeting. and never call back. Even when I called toyota they cold not get a hold of anyone there. Kaotic- ya my car is definitely base model |

Never mind I found it. Looks like a pile of people disagree. Even if half the entries are shills still be a good rating. http://www.dealerrater.com/dealer/Mi...er=ALL_REVIEWS |

OP:
Sucks that this is your 1st car purchase and it has to be like this. You live and learn unfortunately. As others have mentioned ... you were misled. Part of your responsibility is to read the paper work BEFORE you sign it. They owe you the difference between the 10 series and your car. As for extended warranties. I never touch them. But then I trade out cars every 3 years. 5 Gs is WAY TOO much. You should get that back or pro-rated. You need to call Toyota North America. The dealership sounds like f*ck heads. BTW: I'm not too into online reviews. Most people like to place negative comments. Fewer people place positive comments. Good luck. |

0 deductible. |
If they took the money for the warranty its on paper somewhere (either the contracts from them or your bank statement). Something wont add up.
You would probably have to prove they intentianally misled you on the 10 Series thing if they charged you more. Also, I got the same 10 year/100k bumper to bumper for $1700. My buddy got his for $1400. You got ripped off royally on that one. If you want to accomplish anything consult an attorney. Sometime a simple letter threatening legal action if they dont do A, B and C is enough. |
I woulda called Toyota HQ and had them investigate.... lol
|
funny story is I have a base '13 halo with Series 10 written on it too... I found out 3 days ago...

Make sure to proof read everything! Bastards tried to get me for third party extended warranty(wtf this was from Toyota dealership) i said no extra stuffs including gap and guess what they did. They added gap and third party extended warranty on my contract. Good thing I caught it before signing. I had to wait another 15min for them to clear it up. I knew he tried to get me and he knew I didnt fall for it. We both laughed lol.
Make sure to get tax for the trade in if you are trading in your vehicle next time. Thats couple hundred dollars there. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |

Had TRD Intake/exhaust Lady was dumbstruckt when I explained no such thing existed on this model. On the other hand, friend paid $40k for his [$43k with tax!~!!!] But it had all dealer useless options added. Traded in for a tacoma 2015 when they were new. Dealer value for FRS was 22k @ 7.8k miles.... depreciation hahah |

There's an easy way to see if you have a 10 Series. Check the seat belt. They are grey. Check the switch under the driver's side 10 Series luminance switch for the faux fiberglass dashboard. It glows on. Check the truck for the 10 Series trunk mat. It should have a blue stitch. Check the front and rear Scion logo badge. There should be a whitish clear spacer between the body and badge. Check the iridescent blue/silver/gold hue depending on the viewing angle. Check the headlight style. They should have a diamond led angle, similar to the gt86,brz. Check the climate control style. It should be three same size controls like the BRZ, GT86. Check the badge on the driver's side. It should glow when charging by sunlight, and your number badge should be less then 2,500.

I'm going to call today to see if i can get my money back |
All 10 Series Scion come in Silver Ignition, not Raven. It looks like silver, but has the blue to gold tint. Check the Scion website.

blow up their dealership as payback for screwing you over!!!

Damn sorry to hear about you dealership experience. I had the exact opposite happen to me. My dealership didnt even know that it was a 10 series. They sold it to me thinking it was a base model and I didnt say one word about it until after I bought the car. lol

That's like the 18th post today I have read from you bragging about this situation. The dealerships look a vehicle up by VIN and have a database of what comparable cars are selling for. It sounds like you got a good deal, but the dealer still made their money. |

You better find some paperwork saying that the $5000 is specifically for the warranty.... Otherwise they will say that it was just markup. Seriously, that is shady as fuck. Sent from Tandy 400 |
Maybe I'm missing something, but you didn't realized it wasn't a 10 series before it was purchased?
