Hate to ask but have a rattle.....
Ok I have searched rattles and there are a lot to weed threw. Asking it here because a lot of you are quick to respond. I have a rattle and I only hear it at highway speeds. 70mph plus. It sounds like it's coming from the right rear area. I can't pin point it because I rarely have a passenger to track it down. It sounds like it's more of a flapping wind kinda noise and not a vibration rattle.
Can anybody narrow it down. Again sounds like, from the drivers seat, it's coming from the outside right rear of the car.... But not 100% sure. |
Under pannel plastic?
|
From what you describe, it could be the fender liners, or one of the underbody liners.
You'll have to jack the car up and do some wiggling, maybe a few fasteners came lose. Or broke off. |
Low tire on that side?
|
If it's the left trunk side as in the passenger side and the rattle sound like plastic rattling at highway speeds then it could be what I encountered.
After I installed my rally armor mud guards, they would flap at highway speeds and cause my rear bumper to giggle and create a plastic clicking/ rattling sound in the rear left. Took me quite a while to isolate and stop it, but I did it by removing the whole bumper and sliding in rubber washers over all the pop-in clips. To test my theory I duct taped up the seams of my bumper drove it on the highway to confirm it before committing to fully disassembling my rear bumper. Its been quiet for a few months now so hopefully that helps you. |
you driving with the windows down? i had the rear seat belt flapping against the rear plastic panel from the wind blowing in
|
Do you have mudguards on yours? I had to retighten the screws after awhile, because the dealer install wasn't up to snuff.
|
your car's totaled. Time to buy a 2017.
I would check the wheel liner's in the rear and the panels towards the back of the car. |

I think it may be the rear passenger side bumper. If I push the top edge of the bumper close to the fender. I get about an 8th of an inch of movement. Like the poppet is not holding it snugly. I also get a rattle type noise if I wiggle it fast enough.

Once you've fix this rattle, another one ALWAYS appears.
I've spent wayy too much time in the past fixing rattles and they always come back. |

I removed the noise maker, what a mistake. With the quieter ride, you hear every single rattle there is. Turns out it's way easier to just set the volume to 35 and enjoy the ride. |
