2017 delivery time frame?

Hi guys, I ordered a 2017 BRZ on Friday and was told to expect delivery in late October. Is there anybody else that has ordered one and if so what did your dealer tell you one a delivery date? Thanks guys, just super excited and anxious

If it's just the BRZ or BRZ limited w/o performance package seems about right per the dealers I spoke with. However if you want the limited with the performance package seems like you will have to wait till Q1 2017 (January is what I was told) since the PP is installed at the factory.

I forgot to specify, it is a limited with the Performance Package. That's fucked because that's a huge difference. I'm interested what else everyone is hearing

jmark 07-24-2016 07:05 PM

From our local dealer:

Copied and pasted from my corporate emailer from Subaru:

"BRZ Performance Package iNew for 2017 is a Performance Package (OP 02) available on BRZ Limited 6MT which further improves the already legendary handling and stopping power of the BRZ. This package includes Red BREMBO® 4-piston brake calipers with larger brake discs both front and rear. The front brake disc diameter increases from 11.6 inches to 12.8 inches, and the rear brake discs increase from 11.4 inches to 12.4 inches for greater braking force. The standard shock absorbers have been replaced with Sachs units for enhanced handling and steering stability. The Performance Package is competitively priced at just $1,195, bringing the MSRP of this model to $28,840.

The Destination and Delivery charge is $820 for 2017 BRZ (+ $150 for retailers in Alaska). Retailer delivery begins at the end of September for BRZ Premium and BRZ Limited. Retailer delivery begins at the end of March for BRZ Limited with the Performance Package and BRZ Series.Yellow"

My dealer submitted my order and provided me with a VON on Thursday. They said that it would be 6-8 weeks. My sales rep said its reserved under my name so it's set to a high priority whatever that means. I ordered a '17 White Limited 6AT with no PP or accessories.

I was told it made no difference in build time wise whether I added accessories or not. At worst case scenario my car will come mid-late September. Based on my previous experience on ordering with Subaru, I hope to receive a VIN in the next two-three weeks and then have a better ETA so I can then decide on accessories to add when the car arrives at port.

Hopefully this is the truth, I believe my order gets processed this Thursday then I'll get an email. I guess I'll have to wait till then

UchihaFanBoy 07-25-2016 07:52 PM

Wow March !! Ugh :( I guess I'll wait ....not getting this car without the PP...I guess its worth the wait :/ *cries in the corner*

I heard march in the "Sport models" (meaning the PP) from a dealer in Oregon as well. I had heard around here that PP would be available in January, but haven't seen any sources on that (or don't remember them).

I guess it's a waiting game guys.. Lol My order gets processed in the next couple of days. Hopefully I'll have an answer in the email.

I've read around and every site or source is saying different things. Once again, it's a waiting game... No one likes to wait Subaru

I dont know why they have to release the package till March ..its a 2017 model might as well make it 2018 this some BS..I guess I'll keep my Base 2013 till next year -_- gives me time to put it back to stock..rant over lol

AndrewC 07-25-2016 09:50 PM

My thoughts exactly guys ^
That's why I can't see them waiting to next year to release the PP on just the limited trims. I can see them waiting till march for the Yellow because it's a limited production.

Still lots of questions still unanswered.

Gives me more time to watch 86 videos on YouTube :(

:sigh: I agree, though I have been waiting so long it's going to feel weird to actually pull the trigger.

Also did anyone else notice that it looks like they changed the VIP program to only be invoice now and not invoice - 2% :(

Zaku 07-26-2016 12:38 PM

Hoping the other side of the equation will get their stuff together too for any special edition etc. it's quite possible ;) hopefully before March tho :(

Historically speaking the time frames set for delivery by car companies are about as accurate as physics in the Fast and Furious movies. They say "next March" for delivery and then some dealers have them on the lots 3 weeks latter or "next March" should have included a year since the cars don't show up for months after they said they would be out.
I never could understand how this happens so regularly when the production of those cars is scheduled to the minute.

My thoughts too, I think perhaps there's something to do with customs? Port or even dealer transportation of them, it may be many step and different companies doing the shipping.

Why can't we all just get tracking numbers and actually dates. This is 2016 and a 28K purchase should have a damn tracking number lmao

Even in 2016 tracking numbers mean almost nothing. I don't know how many times I have ordered stuff and the tracking system tells me it is not left yet or is on route when I am standing there holding the order in my hand.

Yeah, I know right? I hate to keep asking my dealer about my car. I want to know what day it's projected to arrive so I can ensure nobody will get their dirty hands on my car except me. Last thing I want is some customer sitting in my driver seat with their muddy shoes or adding body odor in my brand new car smell lol

Dude that's exactly how I am, I told them don't take the stickers and plastic off, don't wash it and don't drill the plates in the front bumper. I'll be calling once a week lmao

Ordered mine last week, was originally told that it didn't matter what I added and that the time frame would be the same. Was quoted end of November for a WR Blue Pearl MT with Performance Package.

Asked the dealer to check what the time frame would be without the PP just to be sure, and got quoted end of September. Ended up foregoing the PP in order to get it sooner because I won't have a car until it comes in and don't feel like spending ~4 months without a car.

That's a ballsy move my friend, but I mean you'll have the car sooner. But for the price of the PP it's just so hard to pass up on.

Yeah, for the price, it's great...
But this car is going to be my daily driver, I'm already having to go 4-8 weeks without a car, I can't wait much longer tbh.
I'm not going to be tracking it or doing anything crazy, so I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

You and me both. I've been sharing a car with my wife the past two months. I'm ready for the car now as it would make life easier for the both of us. I wish the PP was offered right out of the gate, but it is what it is. I gave up my STi for the reason of not fully utilizing its potential, so I feel like having the PP doesn't make or break my value of the BRZ. Would it have been nice to have all the bells and whistle? Without a doubt, but for DD purposes...no. I'm praying it'll be a miracle and come the last week of August somehow...that'd be amazing.

Psilox 07-28-2016 01:31 PM

Just a quick update on the 'ol car search:

I had a dealer quote me 28.1k for the Limited with PP, and a delivery timeframe of about 1.5-2 months. I'm not sure what is accounting for the huge discrepancy between dealers in the same area regarding delivery estimates.

That's really interesting, as now I've heard 4 different time frames on the PP package: September, November, January, and March. Anyone know if Subaru would be releasing official info on this soon?

I think it's just because half the salesman doesn't know crap about the car and just use their own estimates. I've had 2 dealerships that didn't even know the car was a refresh and when I told them i only wanted the 2017, they told me "I think they are only going to put new wheels on it" and this was after going online to search it up lol.

Funny because that dealership is on the white list here too.

Well, FWIW, this was the time displayed on their system at the dealership after putting in an order for one. Still, don't know how accurate it is, but it wasn't as much "told" to me, as "read" to me haha

Elleteeh, I'm really hoping for last week of August too, haha. I want this thing ASAP!

Mmmm limited with Performance Package!

They already have the "build" option on Toyota Japan's website. Hopefully the US follows soon.

The official Subaru statement is "The Premium and Limited models will begin arriving at retailers in early September while the Limited with the Performance Package will arrive at retailers Winter 2017".

There were other official Subaru press releases that said March (which could be considered "winter" in someplace) so I would not be holding my breath for one.

EDIT - Found it. "The 2017 BRZ Premium and Limited models will begin arriving at retailers in September while Performance Package-equipped and Series.Yellow will arrive at retailers early 2017.

March sounds most likely.

So I guess we'll be seeing them in September, November, January, March, AND next December! Truly, a car for all seasons.

I hope for those waiting find it worth it. I'm probably the only one that would care about this, but I prefer to have a '17MY with a few months to spare than wait until the end of quarter one of 2017 to get my car. Just something about knowing I got a new car for a little longer before the next MY comes out is comforting lol but then again I'm sure the wait for those getting the PP will definitely pay off and they'll have a lot to be excited for when it comes around.

It looks like you're probably right about that. I suppose we'll know for sure in a few weeks if dealers start saying "Oops! Sorry, your car is going to be an extra 6 months late!"

Is anyone familiar with Subaru's ordering system? If I have a VON, what's the typical turnaround time before that moves to a VIN?

Also, does the factory build upon request (in order by date submitted) or do they build batches and then assign the vehicles to matching orders? Curious to see how that all works...

AndrewC 07-29-2016 08:20 PM

What does VONstand for?
