interior dome light
my dome light would work sometimes and sometimes not. then it started getting worse and now it doesnt work at all. it seemed to start happening ever since i replace the original bulb with an led but even after switching back it still doesnt work. anyone have this problem?
|
Haven't had that problem, but if you decide to take it to the dealership to have them look at it, make sure you have the original bulb in there.
Once I took my car for an issue and they told me I needed to avoid using LED bulbs for the interior lights because they could cause issues with some computer in the car. Idk, I've had my LED interior lights for 2+ years without any problems. Just know that they may avoid fixing your issue under warranty if they find out you were using LED bulbs instead of the OEM bulbs. |
Check your fuses under your dash panel. If you had a bad led or the contacts crossed, it could cause one to blow. I had a blown fuse from one in my license plate.
|
Yea if you installed a wrong size or wattage LED bulb there's a good chance your fuse is blown. Also, some of these LED bulbs cant be trusted they are just cheap bulbs coming from China

Hopefully the BCM wasn't shorted when you changed the bulbs. I have LEDs in my dome light and haven't had any issues. The fact that the OE bulb doesn't work tell me the problem is in the car, not the bulb. I'd definitely check the fuse before i took the car to the dealer. If you do take it to the dealer, make sure you put the OE bulbs back in.

ill check the fuse today. ill let you guys know what happens. thanks for the anwsers

where did you buy the led bulb from? was it from a reputable vendor or from somewhere like ebay? did you get a DE3175 31mm festoon bulb? i installed an aqua blue led bulb once and it would always flicker because the heatsink was defective on it...the fuse might be blown for the dome light try to replace the fuse first as others suggested and put back the OEM bulb and see what happens like others said if you go to the dealer install the regular bulb and act dumb saying i don't know what happened it just stopped working all of a sudden...say maybe the bulb died and it might need to be replaced? ... pretty much deny everything saying you never touched it |
I got my LED dome light, and a bunch of other LEDs for my car from this place -
http://www.hidpowerhouse.com It's all good quality stuff as far as I can tell, and I have not had any issues. They are in Canada, but the prices are in USD. Anyway, it's an option if you need one. Best of luck  |

Are there any other lights that don't work? When my license plate lights went out, so did my parking lights. I think it was a 5 amp. But, don't hold me to that. It was over a year ago.

the frs/brz is actually pretty LED friendly in the dome light fixture as long as you don't short it. The BCU even provided a PWM on off cycle that helps keep LEDs working right.
I actually have an entire SSR setup on mine with what is effectively underglow for the entire car all run off that circuit. |

But when I put the original bulb back in there was no problems. |
