I like it :coolpics: Damn, can't believe 20 inch wheels can fit in the wheel well.

Love the design but I'd prefer 18s

ttknf 07-05-2012 10:38 PM

Yeah, I was really surprised when I found those; couldn't believe (and still can't) that somebody would actually waste their money on 20s.

ZmZMWagon 07-05-2012 10:40 PM

JDM YO!

merlin2111 07-05-2012 11:38 PM

Not my style but I respect it. The other 86 with the chrome 20's looked redic but this is better. I still dont love black wheels. It doesnt matter the size or style they just look boring when you are driving.

Turbowned 07-06-2012 10:56 AM

Those wheels are gorgeous! When they're 18" diameter and Silver.

20's.... SMH

eikond 07-06-2012 11:04 AM

Too big.. Looks like the bicycle in front of it in the 3rd picture.

20's look good on big cars.. but not good on little cars.. In my opinion at least.

MarkMash 07-06-2012 12:11 PM

any guard manipulation?

stock suspension?

jeebus 07-06-2012 01:22 PM

People need to understand that what makes this car great is lightness and balance. All putting wheels that big on does is ruin that. :(

nothing wrong with going for the 'look' but IMHO these are too big.

industrial 07-06-2012 03:47 PM

At least they aren't chrome. Actually.... They might as well be chrome.

the 86 isn't the best looking car. If you want "the look" and not performance, there are plenty of options.

chulooz 07-06-2012 04:50 PM

Looks whack and I bet it functions whack... :(

BioRage 07-06-2012 04:54 PM

DUDE 20" ARE UGLY

PLEASE

REMOVE.

I wouldn't even run 20"'s on my Forester.

boredom.is.me 07-06-2012 06:43 PM

Everyone says that bigger wheels look stupid. They will most likely reduce performance, but I don't see what makes "you" qualified to say that these "look" stupid. I'm pretty sure many people where drooling over the concept, which happened to have 20" wheels...

Respect the opinions and decisions of other people. There is nothing wrong with saying that you don't like "it", but at the same time, there is nothing saying that "it" is wrong. Nasty comments are not called for so please just quit. If anything, state why "you" would not apply them to "your" car.

I'll admit that that "NO dove" above is funny.

armythug 07-08-2012 10:44 AM

Yea some of those concept 86/FRS/STI were hot with the big wheels. But the wheels that were chosen for the concept cars mentioned above were spot on! :happy0180:

Over 20 years design experience and 10 years as a performance driving instructor.
They look like shit and are very bad for performance.

Well not everyone has a track in their backyard. You completely missed my point...

Everyone has the same taste? Oh.

Entropy 09-23-2012 03:19 PM

Meh... 17s are still my favorite size.

Ravenlokk 09-23-2012 03:33 PM

I can understand putting big heavy wheels on a new civic or something... but it really makes no sense on this car. It will pretty much ruin the good things about it, and make the lack of power even more obvious from a start. Plus good luck going over bumps, or construction zones without bending a rim with that little rubber...

While not everyone has the same taste there is such a thing as bad taste.
Bad proportions = Bad aesthetics = Bad taste.
When the classic rule of thumb “form follows function” is distorted beyond reasonability things don’t look correct. Prodrive is an excellent company but they should know better than to put rubber bands on a FR-S

Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I can't help but share that I saw this car in person while I was on vacation in Osaka back in June '12. Here's a photo of me "drooling" over it (I was BRZ-less back then). Note the license plate number and the rear window decal. Obviously, it was prior to the wheel upgrade.

Attachment 39751

The world is indeed smaller than we think it is. And yeah, I look stupid in that photo, whatever.:laughabove:

Ryuu0u 06-05-2013 10:29 AM

There is no way that he can even turn properly with out rubbing or ripping up something plastic lol

the_butcher 06-06-2013 01:19 PM

The wheels aren't bad looking, its the tires he's running. I bet he's bent one or two already. 19s max!

Hill 02-05-2018 06:01 PM

Not bad.

Leonardo 02-05-2018 06:25 PM

The tire calculator says that a 215/30/20 is only 2% larger diameter than the stock primacy's. And you can get a set of 4 of them for $241 shipped from ebay!

Hell, a 275/25/20 is basically the same size as a 265/35/18; a very popular size tire.
