Wow the TRD kit went quite aggressive. I hope this is something that is offered in the USA this time around!

Ro_Ja 07-05-2016 04:40 AM

Looks too "organic". Too many complex lines and curves, IMO. My understanding is the changes are due to aero improvements, but sometimes function needs to take a backseat to style...

The Modellista kit is a much better alternative.

IMO There isn't a lip on earth that can make the facelift 86 front look good. Best option would be to rip it off and replace it with the new BRZ front or a 12-15 GT86 front.

DAEMANO 07-05-2016 05:13 AM

Looks good to me

Mr.Impreza 07-05-2016 11:04 AM

Way too much going on in that kit.
I was never the biggest fan of the TRD kit originally, but this one is way too much for the eyes. Looks like something a ricer would put on. I think it's not so much the TRD kits fault but just the front bumpers fault.

MCB seems interesting...

TRD kit looks terrible... but the 2017 86 looks terrible to begin with.

The installation is quite involved for these draw stiffeners, they are originally from STI. Only installed asymmetrically on the BRZ due to the design of its chassis (not sure why that is), while symmetrical on the WRX STI, the Legacy only needs one piece. :iono:

IIRC one end of the bar has a pillowball and the rod is a spring loaded pull action (I played around with the rods when I first got them).

Basically it ties the front subframe to the sides of the chassis, limits the movement of the subframe (can only be used in conjunction with the STI flexible strut tower bar and/or flexible v-bars, not sure about TRD). When cornering, the change in alignment for the front wheels are minimized.

When I take a fast corner it feels like the car gets sucked down to the ground a bit (similar feeling when cornering a 4 wheel double wishbone old Honda).

But I like the rear bumper though. Not so sure about the front lip though.

krayzie 07-05-2016 01:39 PM

Take it off and paint it. The Honda crowd do it all of the time.

Is that a red baseball bat? Good hiding spot, but would be hard to get to if you are in the thick of it.If you know what I mean.

MisterSheep 07-05-2016 03:55 PM

weederr33 07-05-2016 06:23 PM

Love the aero kit!

johl 07-05-2016 07:52 PM

I'm not a huge fan of any of the new trd kit. everything looks like it has been stuck on with some 3m tape. the black trim pieces that follow the fender vent along the bottom of the windows looks the worst. and the fender extensions are not much better.

the only thing I do like is the look of the diffuser on the rear bumper

Well they sorta are stuck on with double sided tape.

krayzie 07-05-2016 08:26 PM

Starting to look like a modern Nissan to me, which is not a good thing.

funwheeldrive 07-05-2016 08:37 PM

Are these louvers any different from the old style?

I thought the TRD look cool, but the Modellista looks even better. Especially that trunk lip.

Some more wheels and some come with tires too. Also they have SARD and Tom's wheel offerings.

ZX88 07-05-2016 11:01 PM

I want that modellista rear spoiler.

Phijkchu 07-05-2016 11:29 PM

I hope this grows on me like the facelift did :/ The 2017 to me doesn't look as bad on the jp site's pics as it did a few months ago at that first press release.

TRD-X 07-06-2016 12:36 AM

I'll just leave this here.....

While the facelift did grow on me a little, I think the TRD really helps. Of course, after seeing the Modellista kit, i'm sold

Lol! Thanks for the catch man! Fixed it

Looks good, but I'll wait for SEMA and TAS.
Hmmm digging the wing and it looks alot alike the trd griffon one
FIFY Would you like ichi's old meaning or the right one? On a serious note, the wing is beautiful and if i could afford one (on top of the car) I could care less if it's rice. It is similar to the griffon one and is the one on the 14R.

MrFisty 07-06-2016 01:29 AM

Ooo, I like dem wheels.

Bach415 07-06-2016 02:36 AM

Is it me or is there a diffuser for the rear bumper now?

Knshro13 07-06-2016 02:43 AM

Looks like the diffuser is a detachable part of the TRD rear half-lip. Ive yet to see the new TRD kit in person but when i do, ill try to take detailed photos.

Knshro13 07-06-2016 02:44 AM

but damn that looks good.

calmtigers 07-06-2016 02:58 AM

do those front struts mount to the 12-15 frs?

FR-Sky 07-06-2016 03:26 AM

The only thing i am interested is the GT wing.
