I think this says more about your driving than anything else. Learn to downshift. :bellyroll:

Im not surprised. Automatics > manuals for dragging and the Dodge has more power n torque.

ericmpena 07-03-2016 08:40 PM

Driver of Caravan to you: "Too soon, junior."

Im not surprised either. My mothers fiat 500 would smoke the 86. Lol. My jeep on 37" boggers and 1 ton running gear with 190 hp would probably smoke a turbo'd twin

Tcoat 07-03-2016 08:45 PM

Go look up the 0 to 60 for a caravan R/T and a FRS and then come back and tell us you know how to drive. The whole minivan is faster in a on urban legend or a show sign you don't know how to launch.

Norinradd 07-03-2016 08:46 PM

Yah. Haha. Had to look at numbers. New caravan has 283 hp and 260 fptq would smoke a damn 350z or v6 camaro. Im sure that minivan owner was proud " look at me babe"

You do not have a fucking clue in life do you? Go play with your toys and leave real cars for the big boys.

Hate to break it to you but an entry level 150hp "sports car" isnt a "real car" it is essentially a cheap TOY

Lantana frs 07-03-2016 08:53 PM

Autos seem to keep the motor in the meat of the torque band which aids real world acceleration. My frs has oft and power blocks which help immensely but I still need to keep it north of 5 grand to do any work.

And id love to see you navigate your way through the rubicon trail in a lifted jeep. Youd piss your pants, shake uncontrollably and roll within 5 minutes. Extreme rock crawling takes as much finess and talent as tight drifts

Yah i was shifting at probably 5-5500. And it was a 50km zone. So couldnt do much. The caravan let off. Due to legality

Irace86 07-03-2016 09:02 PM

Tcoat probably is alluding to the fact that the manuals for our cars are faster than the autos and faster than the Caravan but the Carvan driver just needs to mash the gas down. The FRS driver needed to redline and quickshift and gain enough launch and distance to overtake to change lanes. Not surprised the Caravan made this impossible.

Lantana frs 07-03-2016 09:11 PM

Imo with stock header and without fi these cars are light switches. Definitely no threat to anyone in a roll on.

I also wasnt expecting the caravan owner to not let me pass. Its not like either of us were revving at eachother. I didnt launch like i was racing. But once i noticed he wasnt going to let me in i gave it gas, as did he. I did eventually get infront of him. But as i said. Haha. It was a 50 KmHr zone. He probably just wanted to make a point. A point im well aware of, that being 50% of cars on the road are faster than the 86. If not more

I almost got smoked by a Nissan Leaf cuz I didn't dump the clutch. Now those are fast!

guybo 07-03-2016 09:16 PM

Yeah, but let's see the Caravan drift through a corner.

Exactly why i bought the car👌🏻

Lantana frs 07-03-2016 09:28 PM

When I had p&l header and tune it was respectable from 3 grand up. Softer than stock below it however.

This caravan is right at 7 seconds. Id say even in the 6's if you watch the clock

Oh ya! 3-4 and then 5-7 seems To be where i feel the most pull. I just found it funny that i figured itd be nothing to get infront of a caravan and he definitley proved me wrong. Although i was only at about 60-70%. Im sure his foot was on the floor

Packofcrows 07-03-2016 09:39 PM

Our cars are designed to be 1980's sport cars. Not Corvette or STI's.

Get a Mustang lol

Said right at the start i dont care to drag. Nor am i an idiot who buys a car without research. I know the twin isnt winning awards for 0-60 times.

ITS JUST FUNNY. Everyone had to make it personal.

I used to surprise people with my 95 astrovan. Those vortecs were healthy.

Fyi. We have the same car. Also I drive a semi truck for a living, so doubting my driving skills is comical. Love to see any of you drive a rig through the bc / alberta mountains. 86 is a go kart.

If you think the 86 is a go kart, you've never driven a go kart, love to see you try to put a fast time down in one though.

Keep doubling down, you'll be sure to make some friends around here eventually.

I am not some fanboy that is under any delusio of what the car has. What I am however is a driver that knows how to make the car do what it can.

You calling me a liar? I just posted the mini van times a couple of days ago. The fact that you are too lazy or incompetent to look them up fits right in with the rest of the shit you spew.

No you arn't. Your post history shows you don't know squat about vehicles or driving.

I have driven 5 ton trucks fully loaded with helicopter fuel through mountain roads where even with the mirror pulled in the wheels hung over a 1,000 foot drop and soft skinned trucks through the open desert while people took pot shots at me with small arms and RPGs. Your pansy ass rock climbing would not make me even break a sweat. I don't believe for one second that you have owned or built such a vehicle much less driven one so your point is moot anyway.

I grow weary of the level of shear stupidity of some people and even though I know that I should be the better man and let it slide this guy is their poster child and has been since his first post. No doubt the Mods will eventual see him for the troll he really is but until that time I will not sit back and listen to the bullshit he spews without response.

Strife 07-04-2016 12:54 AM

I agree with Tcoat, the sheer amount of stupidity and negativity I'm seeing in these comments is disappointing. I'm quite new to this forum but I'd expect most of you to be more mature.

nico_rsx 07-04-2016 12:58 AM

So if I read this correctly, the OP definition of "getting smoke by a caravan", is that in a 0-50 KM/H sprint (because 50kmh zone), that he didn't get the 1 car length advance needed to change lane in front of the mini-van ?!?
Do you have any idea how much more powerful you need to be to get a complete car length advantage in such a short time.
I'd say approximatly twice as powerful...
One car length is a lot in a 1/4 miles, imagine if your not even going up to 60mph.
A lot of people don't not how to launch (either manual or automatic).
