shouldn't have called..

Called my dealership at lunch to check if they had come up with a delivery date yet for my Asphalt; they didn't give me one when I put the deposit down, just an estimate for late July.

The sales manager told me he was pretty positive it would be in Wed/Thurs next week... Now I'm too excited to concentrate at work. I should have just waited for them to call me when it was delivered!

What did everyone else do to curb the anticipation?

I think I am the wrong person to ask... LOL I got mine last week and now I am wondering when products are coming from aftermarket... LOL

shiud 07-05-2012 05:38 PM

haha, congrats :) I've already been thinking about that for a while, mostly just to replace the stock stereo though.

xpicer 07-05-2012 05:57 PM

i started learning everything i possibly can about the engine, suspension, electronics... also got so comfortable with some of the features that i started purchasing parts and different lighting to work on it. i admit i am supper distracted at work ( like now) : ) . i just hope the hype doesn't disappear with in the first week of owning it.:confused0068:

I've been through that. But when the date came, the car didn't. Hope this is not happening to you.

as mentioned above, i cope(d) by reading threads on this forum.
i also googled, youtube'd, all sorts of pictures and videos of the car. wife thought (thinks?) i'm going crazy.

but i just received the greatest news this morning. my car has arrived at the dealership! will be going to finalize paperwork and pick it up this evening. :happyanim:

If you're anything like me, you probably wont be very active on the forums for the two weeks after you get your car so get those posts in now!

I curled up into a ball in a corner....

But chances are your probably going to visit the forums every hour or so while googling scion FR-S for most recent news.

... Not saying thats what I did or anything... ¬_¬

Luckily my car came in about 1 week earlier than their expected delivery date.

Bugged the crap outta my sales guy through the whole process with noob questions, started looking at which parts/accessories/whatever I wanted to buy first (Toyota badges, beat sonic antenna, license plate relocator, etc), started sleeping really early to fast forward the days - I went to bed at 8:30 one night lol

You are going to be such a wreck for the next couple of days

I'm in a similar situation with the Mrs. She too thinks I could turn it down a notch with the obsession/oogling of GT86 pics and videos.

I still do those things! My salesman is a genuinely patient fellow (it's AFTAB at Al-Futtaim Toyota, DFC).

I'm in Norway. The 86 was opened for sales late may, but isn't officially launched here until late august. I've finally seen it in the flesh though, the car is doing a promo tour around the country these days. My initial delivery date was "around Q1 '13", so they're still in the ballpark. I ordered mine as soon as the preorders opened.

Worst part is that people ordering now are told they might get delivery as early as october, so there's still hope for an early delivery.

Ah that explains it, hope they don't keep you waiting for long!

I don't mind the Scion badge actually, I think I'm more bothered by the little wiry antenna on the top haha. I've been sleeping early too, but not 8:30 early ;)

Was recently told by the dealer that my Firestorm MT would be arriving within 10 days. I hope he's right because I couldn't bare much longer than that.. I've watched Nino's video (Barcelona to Budapest in the GT86) probably around 7-8 times in the past 2 days... And Chris Harris's Drive video close to 15-20 times this past week... I want it so bad.
