Got into a wreck with a e36 328i

So on my way to work today a guy in a 97 328i started to ride on my bumper in a super aggressive way. I then decided it was time for me to get the hell out of this d-bags way or else something might happen to me. So I merged into the next lane when I saw an opening and he merged on my ass but what he didn't notice was that a minivan was coming out and I had to brake slightly to decrease speed. Long story short the fucker hit me!

at least his car looks much worse off than yours :s

hopefully it's just the bumper you have to replace, the trunk looks okay

dnieves 06-24-2016 10:51 PM

Bumper skin, exhaust, reverse light assembly but what does the driver side rear quarter panel look like? You'll have to check the rear lower control arms and alignment too.

chaoskaze 06-24-2016 11:02 PM

How about just slow down & let the fuker pass first so 2 of you don't have to put ppl/things near u 2 in danger too if shit goes wrong.. & you could have avoid all this.

Remember, trouble find you or not, you can choose what you gonna do.

To be fair he did say he was trying to get out of the e36's way but the beamer probably thought he wanted to race when it followed the lane change

wireman957 06-24-2016 11:19 PM

Regardless of anything else, he rear-ended you so he's automatically in the wrong. No pun intended, but you are literally in the driver's seat on this one. You should be fully compensated for this. If your insurance company doesn't screw up royally, you should have your car fully repaired. Just DO NOT sign an injury waiver or settle for a pittance. Sometimes it can take weeks or months for back/neck pain to manifest itself from a rear end collision.

Sorry to hear about the accident OP. Doesn't sound like it was your fault.

BTW great looking car! Very tasteful mods. Hope it's fixed soon.

Must of ran out of blinker fluid

Tcoat 06-25-2016 12:22 AM

Someplace on a BMW forum:
"Well some punk in his cheap ass Toyota cut me off today..."

Doesn't look too bad hope it is fixed soon with no hassle.

Mr.Impreza 06-25-2016 01:05 AM

This is why I don't like people driving on my ass. Usually I just begin to slow down and pit hazards on until the idiot backs off or overtakes me.

turtlefeeder 06-25-2016 02:11 AM

Welp, now ya get a free bumper xD make sure you wear a neck brace when you go to insurance office ^_<

I was actually doing the speed limit(45mph) but the person in the minivan saw me and continued to exit the intersection so I slowed down to about 30 mph to let the idiot who should've waited.

The sad thing is I love my car so much that I was more worried about it than me because I initially felt good but now my back has a slight pain so to the doctor it is for me. Now I have a boring Chevy Cruze but it'll do until they fix my car.

This!

I think because my car looks a bit more aggressive than a regular one folks think I might be into street racing. I'm not into that crap and I generally drive around the speed limit that's why I never got a ticket since I started driving(18) and I'm now 32.

Agree have that checked out too as well.

Given the profile of our cars I had to drive a lot more defensive especially if drivers are very aggressive tailing you at the rear end best thing we can do is backing off.

MuseChaser 06-25-2016 12:31 PM

That's a drag.. sorry it happened. I'm also very saddened to see an E36 in the hands of, and damaged by, an idiot. I would have been a much more deserving owner of that car. I loved mine, and wish I could have found another affordable one.

Well, since I got the FR-S, there isn't any place to hang my rifle, so, I settle to keep my ol .45 and a couple of extra clips of ammo, in that pouch behind the passenger seat.........:D

Back-in-the-day I used to keep a "corn knife" (looks sort of like a machete - for you non-old farm boys) in a sheath strapped to the back of the drivers seat. Yep, to the "hoods" that wanted to knife fight ...... I'd say (just like in the movie) "now, THIS is a knife" ....... :mad0259:

It's pretty wild there in the West, isn't it. Reminds me of Russian dashcam videos, actually.

Here on the East Coast, news about road rage incidents contain weapon descriptions such as "she pulled out a bottle of Palmer’s coconut-scented baby oil and tossed oil on the woman, on her daughter and inside their car"

It is sort of funny that I have noticed the opposite since I got the car. I find that people tend to stay well back from me. My wife even commented on how far people stay away both (yes two) times she rode in it. These cars are very rare around here and the Scion badge is almost unknown so my theory is that most people think it is way more expensive than it is so stear clear. I rather enjoy it actually.

Ya, regional differences can be huge and it is sometimes hard to believe that other people's reality can be different.
There is nothing funnier than to watch 4 people come to a 4 way stop at the same time around here. It turns into an impasse where everybody sits there for 10 minutes while telling each other "no you go first". Now if I drive two hours north to Toronto I may as well be in LA and a few hours further to Montreal it could be European driving so have no delusion that all is great everywhere here. I am just lucky that locally things are better than average.

gtpvette 06-26-2016 12:59 PM

To the OP,,, doesn't look too bad on your side,,, hopefully nothing major. It's strange how high up the damage is on the BMW. I would of thought it'd been more bumper to bumper not bumper to hood/grill.

geezerbrzeezer 06-26-2016 01:39 PM

When I see this type of needless shit, beautiful car damaged for no good reason other than you 'can't fix stupid', I'm reminded why I hate people so much. Fuck I hate people. People should be illegal. (With the obvious exception of the members here).

And tailgaters are the worst. Try to pull over and let them by, something I've done, has its own risks.

I say we form a posse, find this mofo, and string him up as an example.

Now who's with me!

He oviously hammered on the brakes and dropped the nose before he hit. Not uncommon damage when sombody brakes just before impact.

I should get a response tomorrow from the shop. My car had a Magnaflow exhaust on it. Do you guys believe they would replace the exhaust with the Magnaflow or some OEM crap?

A Magnaflow receipt should be adequate for your insurance provider to take care of, if you remain civilized with them. Whatever that means.

However, don't expect them to be all smiles and sunshine if you are a trouble maker and have tons of damaged mods on the car.

YES!

Let's start a club ...... with the objective to reduce the population of tailgaters.

I suggest this for our club vehicle ........... :paddle:

how said that ......??

Yeah I don't have the receipt but the exhaust say magnaflow all over.

guybo 06-26-2016 03:45 PM

Ah this sucks, dude. A douchebag in a BMW.... that never happens! Hopefully you don't have any real injuries, I got rear ended last August and my neck hasn't been right since :mad0260:

When I get some **** tailgating me, I always but always slow to the minimum speed allowable for the road. 45 on the highway has a way of getting people to just go around. :burnrubber:

FX86 06-27-2016 05:50 PM

the bmw driver was being the ideal bmw driver...you know their motto:

"if you can't smell his chuff you ain't close enough"
