FRS with Ferrai F-12 front bumper. Looking for opinions.

Looking for some un-biased opinions about my new front end!

This is a one of a kind hand made front bumper in carbon fiber, made after the f12 Ferrai front bumper. Not an exact match but it's pretty dang close and I think looks good but I wanted to get some opinions of other frs/brz owners!

I can dig it. Looks like quality work.

8R6 06-20-2016 07:34 PM

way too much front overhang for me

shiumai 06-20-2016 07:52 PM

Interesting - more pics please. Reminds me of the G-nose Z - a bit too much overhang for me too, personally.

The waffle grill is a bit busy (i don't like it on the F12 either - looks like a toothy grin) so i'd have picked the F12 TDF version if i were going to pick one or the other:

Looks like quality custom work though - kudos for trying something different.

iamjacob 06-20-2016 08:00 PM

Not my cup of tea but if you're happy with it then that's all that matters.

NyC Zn6 06-20-2016 08:01 PM

Not my cup of tea as well but i can respect the creativity and bringing something different to the 86 chassis.:respekt:

ryoma 06-20-2016 08:34 PM

its looking like the front face is smiling while the eyes (headlights) is angry and don't match the face. however, if you like it then that's all that matters. screw the haters

I like it, reminds me of a kit i saw on the car when it first came out in 2013

^ I think that red car with the body kit looks better to be honest. The "F12" style bumper seems to have a sharp edge at the top of the grill that looks out of place on the car.

Yeah, the black one is nice but that sharp overhang throws things off, perhaps if it was rounded to be flush with the grill like the red it would be a much cleaner look. But kudos for the one off build!

Looks a bit creepy IMHO lol like it's staring into nothing but it's grinning as of its towards you 😅

Toyarzee 06-20-2016 09:54 PM

As others posted already... It doesn't seem to follow the lines of the car very well, and thus sticks out and seems sorta out of place; but overall the fitment and execution seems to be spot on from what you can tell by the one picture.

guybo 06-21-2016 05:51 AM

IMHO it looks great and it has canards built in and a nice splitter.

raven1231 06-21-2016 05:58 AM

Why does everyone need to say IMO or IMHO? If you're saying it it's assumed it's your opinion, no?

Anderzz 06-21-2016 07:49 AM

The grill is the only thing that doesn't work for me.

Quality looks phenomenal all around though so be proud of it

Dr. BRZ 06-21-2016 08:46 AM

sorry bro, but that looks fu*king ugly!!

OkieSnuffBox 06-21-2016 08:54 AM

Looks gross.

D_Thissen 06-21-2016 09:23 AM

Ummm.. No.

Chimera 06-21-2016 11:00 AM

Looks happy

Summerwolf 06-21-2016 11:10 AM

It looks weird. Like its just grinning stupidly.

NWFRS 06-21-2016 11:36 AM

You sure that's not just the new Toyota GT86 front end with an egg-crate grille fitted? Looks more busy and more fussy than stock. It's not bad. Just not better IMHO...

D_Thissen 06-21-2016 12:27 PM

Imho I'm so stupid for informing you that it was my opinion.

So the piece of styrofoam in front of the crashbar, does it still fit snugly against the back of that, or did you get a custom cut piece?

Thank you all for the opinions, good and bad!

Shiumai, I attached some more pics. the TDF version came out after I bought this bumper. I like the TDF better too LOL.

This was the look I was going for

I hadn't noticed it before about the lines of the car not matching perfectly, I do agree. I still like it though.

Appreciate all the feedback!

The styrofoam fit fine with it, no modifications.

DGM-BRZ 06-21-2016 02:59 PM

Please put on the stock bumper, or at least sell it to me..

Imo, you ruined the car with that new bumper. Why buy a car and try making it look like another?

It looks like a frog smiling with teeth.

G-awesome 06-21-2016 04:35 PM

interesting look....you need to put a 'baby Ferrari' badge on the back. lol

chaoskaze 06-21-2016 05:14 PM

FRS with Ferrai F-12 front bumper. Looking for opinions.

I think it looks ridiculous.

turtlefeeder 06-21-2016 06:45 PM

Looks kind of like ford's front end nowadays

DAEMANO 06-21-2016 07:04 PM

Not my taste, but if you like it, rock it.

geezerbrzeezer 06-21-2016 07:49 PM

Draconian and predatory, a reptilian Jack Nicholson's Joker.

Unfortunately, its outrageousness renders the rest of the car somewhat sedate and characterless, as has been pointed out.

My biggest problem is with its poseuresque nature - the subtlety of the Twins is special, and to jam a wannabe Ferrari beak onto one . . . ?

And that's coming from someone who briefly considered the nose in post #8.

But the good news is the joke's on us - you've merely shopped this mofo on for some laughs.

Good one!!

XanRules 06-21-2016 07:52 PM

Craftsmanship looks high quality but yeah, not a fan. Doesn't flow with the design of the rest of the car.

636 06-21-2016 09:11 PM

Should've just got the Gialla kit imo. Looks and flows way better, but keeps that "Ferrari" look.

churchx 06-21-2016 09:20 PM

Just like many think of cayman owners 'they cannot afford 911', in same fashion tripplet owners will look after installing this bumper. 'poor chap that cannot afford Aston, hence bastardised otherwise fine car'. Even if quality of it looks ok, but that's what others will think.

KING_X 02-19-2019 04:35 AM

This was clearly a long while ago but I’d recommend doing a video of it if you still have it, or if anyone can find a video for it. It’s pretty hard to find anything of it, I just want to see how it’d look on a car in all angles.
