FR-S/BRZ problems in Canada

First off, I just want to say that I do NOT have my BRZ yet.... but with all the threads of owners in the USA having several issues with their cars (from misaligned trunks to CEL's being lit within miles (kilometers of receiving them), I was just wondering if Canadians are experiencing the same issues with the US models?

I havent had any problems yet

but a misaligned trunk or a cel is covered by warranty anyway so i wouldn't use that as an excuse not to get the car, assuming you want it.

First year problems... Gotta love em.

Oh, I'm getting the car....placed an order already (albeit later than I should have).... =)

This is just more of a curiosity thread than anything else.... I can't be the only one wondering about this, can I?

7thgear 07-04-2012 02:34 PM

i didn't

i was more concerned about getting the car detailed, and good thing i did because mine had A LOT of iron deposits and rust spots were already creeping up!

the detailer got all that done

so make sure to skip the dealership cleaning and save a few hundred bucks for a professional detail job

I noticed today the infamous "idle dip", wasn't as extreme as some cases, it only went to about 500rpms, no less, but Im starting to pay more attention to that. Maybe its normal so far, not sure. Only around 200kms on the car.

I'm not too concerned about first year problems. If they are here, they are. That's why I decided to go with Toyota/Subaru, I want to experience the glorious quality and customer service that everyone's been talking about around me for so long (while bashing Nissans reliability, with 3 in the family, I never really had horrible things happen).

No problems here for me!! Gotta love not having em!

I have not had a single issue at all with my FR-S. I've had it since June 7th and It's already got 1650 kms on it. I took care of it and kept it below 4K for the first 1600 kms as indicated in the manual.

I haven't had a single issue at all. I also would like to mention, I really noticed a huge difference in the engine note compared to when I first got the car. It's much much louder then it was 3 weeks ago.

I can't tell you how much fun it is to get close to 7K rpms in this car.

No cars are perfect. Its just small issue, if the engine or tranny blow then it's a problem.

jmah88 07-04-2012 04:56 PM

No problems for me yet, I am at 800KM so far!

3 weeks with my BRZ with 1,500 km, no problem at all. Car is solid and no wind noise, etc...

got my car a day after you, and running about the same KM... I too have noticed that the engine sounds way better now!! love ripping through the gears heh. I usually drive with the windows down, but love how it sounds so much with the windows up, i'm now relying on A/C to keep cool.. it's a fantastic noise!

Zero issues and dealer did excellent job detailing car and I have never had any issues with any dealership preparing my cars.

Had this car for about a month, only problem is, if I rev the rpm high my gas mileage is crappy, if I drive like a granny good gas millage. Why God why, I guess fun cost money :bellyroll:

Got it same day as my then but I got 2600km now

Wait until 2000km thats when I noticed a difference in engine sound

Only thing tho is I have had issues with my car but its just the known leaky taillight issue

Bu-Tang 07-04-2012 07:44 PM

1200Km no problems yet. Ive had the idle drop as well and random misfire @ cold start but it smoothens outs within 1-2mins, even when its doing it, its minor. I have the thump when putting it in first gear but its not concerning seeing as the other members have reported it going away after some time.

ahquit 07-04-2012 08:09 PM

I also get a bit of a thump when putting it in first gear, but other than that no other issues to report as of yet.

Picked up the FR-S four days ago, have put on 925 km so far.

- occasional idle dip but only down to 500 rpm, not bad.
- bit of wind noise on highway around driver's window leading edge.

- haven't seen any taillight condensation
- panel fit looks fine to me
- haven't noticed any clunk shifting into 1st

running a hose on your trunk for awhile

thats how I confirmed mine

roddy 07-04-2012 11:53 PM

I seem to be getting water in the reverse light(s) when I wash the car, or when it rains.

I had a fuel line blow out on Monday morning, but that appears to have been caused by a small rodent gnawing on a couple of fuel hoses. Damn. Had to Macgyver up a solution in the driveway with stuff I had laying around in the garage.

Got the "bucket of crickets" sound now and then.

Idle occasionally dips, but never below 500 rpm. This is pretty normal on a lot of cars, so I'm not really worried about it.

The odd "thunk" when I put it in gear. Maybe my right arm is faster than my left foot, or maybe it is just the nature of this transmission. It doesn't feel "wrong", just different than what I am used to.

No water in the taillights yet.

I've experienced the bolded items. The "thunk" is weird and makes me think I'm screwing up something... hard to tell.
