Antenna delete
I couldn't find an option for an antenna delete so I made one myself. If anyone is interested in one of their own PM me and I'll send you the file to be 3d printed from "frosted model plastic".
Take it to your favorite body shop and have them paint it, and buff your roof(the stock antenna made marks in the paint). I glued mine in with clear silicone then put a bunch on the inside to be sure it's sealed. Easy as that. The "proper"way to do it is to weld the hole shut and repaint the roof. My shop quoted me $370 for this. My way cost about 25$ including the silicone.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...a3cb763b10.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0578cba53e.jpg |
Looks good man.

It looks pretty good, compare it to someone else on the forum that did an extremely crappy job with some sort of square plate. This doesn't even seem noticeable. |

Yea yours looks good, that other guys used some console plaque like you said and it stuck out and he made some comments like it would be good enough to hold water out and if you vinyl the roof its fine. Also I know it's weird but OCD is kicking in could you press enter on before the second photo so its all in one line  |
Do you have any photos from further away?

It's in there, I can't see it. Maybe in different light you'd see a shadow/bump |

As far as this one goes, looks much better, but still bothers me that it's not flush. Not something I'd be interested in doing, though. Decent enough, especially for the price. |

I never even thought about doing this, but that looks good.
Antenna is only for radio right? GPS is under the dash? |

This definitely looks much better than the console plaque one (which made me laugh).
If I ever do this I will probably just remove the antenna, put in a good gasket that sits flush with the roof, and wrap the roof. I plan on wrapping it black down the road anyway, so maybe it's worth trying. |

The FR-S and BR-Z GPS antenna is not through the roof antenna, your assumptions are correct. There is a special antenna mounted on a metal plate either above the gauge cluster or above the glovebox |
You could always get a window/pillar hidden mount antenna if reception is needed. Very interested, quite a nice yet simple project..

Whoever wants it just pm me and I'll email you the file. Take it to whatever 3d printing service you prefer and you'll get a little tile in the mail, paint, silicone and you're done

It looks great, my friend has a small 3D printer for his hobby but unfortunately I use the radio sometimes when I have to drive my sister around.
|
I like to listen to my radio and I like the RC antenna, much more than the shark one. But if I had a choice to listen to the radio and do this, I would

Well that crappy console plaque is mine and I agree it is not great but I don't have access to a 3d printer and time to do this. So this is definitely better than mine. Also I didn't wrap it after and this has NOT leaked since install and snow and rain. So it seems like it works. I am glad I inspired your idea @Ashikabi :] So how about sending me the file? thanks!
This looks just as good from a distance. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1451699463 |
