Got backed into
The unfortunate happened . a lady back into my parked car while I was pumping gas. She managed to bump my car back a foot. There isn't any visible damage, should I get it inspected to see if there's any structurally? I have the actual incident recorded too, so that's a plus at least.
I love my car to pieces, just got her less than 2 months ago. Any recommended courses of action will be taken into consideration.:thanks: EDIT::The mustache was the contact point. |
If it's so light that you can't even see any visual damage, it's totalled.
I meant it's fine. If you're really paranoid about it go have it inspected and get her to pay for it provided she's a reasonable person. |

If there isnt any visible damage to your bumper cover, or mustache, then there is a 99.9% chance there is no structural damage....because you know steel is harder than plastic =) but if you got her insurance info, get them to pay for it just in case. |

Thanks for the input guys, I'm a bit high strung about my car; in this case I guess no harm no foul...

Something similar happened to me other day.. Except I got rear ended, with minor cosmetic damage on the bumper. I still went to get it inspected and turns out the support bar underneath was damaged, so I had that and the entire bumper replaced under their insurance.
Doesn't hurt to get it check out. |

Get it inspected and file a claim against her insurance if necessary. |

Do not assume that just bc everything looks good, it is. Been there, done that, got f**ked. |
Sorry to rain on parades but bring the car into either a performance/alignment shop or Subaru itself. It costs nothing to inspect, they're there to quote you damages which the other driver is responsible for. You don't know what parts of your suspension were knocked around.

+1 to get it checked out
I have a 95 prelude that was rear ended by a transport truck at a red light (we both weren't moving, at a red light and he couldn't see me) literally zero damage to the paint and bumper, but i had a body shop take a look at it the entire bar underneath was bent and had to be fixed |
There will be internal damage. You'll probably also see stress cracks in the paint.
|
BTW, here's a stolen pic of what it looks like under the bumper:

Thanks for the pics and the warnings guys, I'll head over to my dealership and have them double check things over some time this week. >~< I've only had her for 3 months..
|
The polystyrene strip and everything else are solid and undamaged :D but is that polystyrene strip supposed to immovable or is it made to have a lot of play? I can jigger it around quite a bit
|
I think it's meant to keep the from bumper front flexing to much it's not really a big deal
