Reverse lock out changed out

Hey guys. Has anyone been able to find a replacement pin for the reverse lock out. I believe the dimensions we need is 3/32 and inch in length. I can find the correct size but not length. Any help would be appreciated!

I thought it was a different diameter but I don't have an accurate way to measure.

But if it is 3/32" them this place has it.

https://www.fastenal.com/products/fasteners/pins/dowel-pins?r=~|categoryl1:"600000%20Fasteners"|~%20~|cat egoryl2:"600108%20Pins"|~%20~|categoryl3:"600111%2 0Dowel%20Pins"|~%20~|attrdiameter:110|~%20~|attrle ngth:1250|~

You want to be the guinea pig? Haha. Actually there's a store right next to me, I'll give them a call sometime to see if they carry it in store.

Nice, please update if it does work. That'd be awesome.

I measured it at 1/16th with a crappy ruler.

Why don't you just reuse the one you have? Or the dealer?

yeah so idk what the heck is going on because the tension pins i bought fit directly into the oem lock out. but doesnt fit into the perrin one -__-

Ashikabi 04-08-2016 04:09 PM

Does perrin use grub screws instead?

it specifically says to reuse the oem pin. idk maybe its a manufacturer defect or something. because its seriously weird the pin slides into the oem one and locks but it wont even go in on the perrin one

Try squeezing it with pliers to get it started. DIY I just read said you have to tap it in with a hammer. My lockout was the same way but it's not Perrin

So there is a part number for thr pins? Or is it more a generic part that fits? I wasn't able to find the part on subaruparts

Norville Rogers 04-10-2016 01:00 PM

I'm lost on this one.

Is the reverse lock out the small piece of plastic that stops the less able selecting reverse when they didn't mean to?

Does changing out mean replacing?

Help.

yup, it's that plastic part. You don't need to replace the metal pin all the time. I know the Raceseng reverse lockout provides a quality threaded pin to use. Not sure about the Perrin lockout. My aliexpress lockout requires reuse of the stock pin.

Perrin reuses the stock pin apparently. I got my reverse lockout on eBay for $15 from Taiwan. Works fine, looks great. No reason to spend $80 on Perrin/Grimmspeed/Raceseng/etc unless you want a specific color or the name/logo on it. This part doesn't really break, people just do it for looks or feel

I thought this to and to a certain degree, those ones are a lot more expensive. The Raceseng one has an O-ring inside that really keeps the lockout solid, there's no play in it. Just wish it didn't have such a standout logo on it (had the silver to minimize it) and that the diameter wasn't larger up top (limited some shift knobs I tried using as it wouldn't fit in).

Mine is polished aluminum with no logos at all

I was tempted by the eBay one to go with my team voodoo shifter. 10 minute job to fit I guess
