So does Volk ;)

These look great! I really never liked dark wheels but there's been a slew of GBS 86's that have really changed my mind. Very aggressive look ya got there.

Thanks! I'm glad that I went with a staggered look. I was going to go with gold but I started liking the hyperblack color a lot more.

Looks great man! Just ordered the exact same wheels from wheeldude. Mine are flat black thou.

looks good but why the huge tyre profile? should have gone with a 35 or 40 at the most. that's going to lengthen your final drive and make the car quite sluggish in a straight line.

Thanks! I originally had the tire place set up a quote for 245/40's but when I went in they had 245/45's and didn't have the 40's. It wasn't personal preference but when I get new tires I'm going with a lower profile for the back especially since I'm going to be lowering the car. These wheels were only for daily driving so I'm not worried about losing performance compared to having the 17s.

My mom has 16's that are 5x100 on her car so I'm probably going to trade her for the 16's and use those for track days

Jeff Lange 07-01-2012 11:36 PM

35's are best. 45's are tall. :|

45's are safer for the roads down here to be honest, so 40's would probably be ideal

spiller 07-01-2012 11:48 PM

yeah 35s are the best way to go. I'm going to run 245/35 on my 9.5 +38 work emotions when they arrive. If you run the car low you *shouldnt* have to roll the fenders at all with that size tyre.

Way taller than stock though, and throws your speedo accuracy way out. It's 8.4% taller than stock size. 35's are 0.5% taller, 40's are 4.5% taller.

I probably wouldn't even run 40's, nevermind 45's.

Jeff

spiller 07-02-2012 12:05 AM

Do those % take into account tyre stretch Jeff? If not id say the 35 would be just about spot on with stock since the 245 will stretch over the wider rim.

Jeff Lange 07-02-2012 12:08 AM

They do not take that into account. You are correct.

It depends on where you live too. I used to live in New Orleans. Man I had some low profile tires. New Orleans has some killer pot holes when it rains. I had some OZ superleggeras. saw a puddle in the road and didnt think it was that deep. Bam goodbye rim. Not sure if the size of the tire would have saved the wheel to be honest.

Yeah that'd be a bad situation. Whenever I need to replace the tires I'll see what good deals are out there. If 35's are on sale then I may go with 35's. I've always done 40's just for the fact they look just right for my style. 80% of my driving consists of driving to and from work so the tread will probably last for a long time.

There is some drag on the car due to the weight but where I live and where my work is I don't even go above 45mph so I don't notice the performance loss.

SmartedPanda 07-03-2012 02:00 AM

The rear looks really nice, wish they were a bit lighter, not even alot, stock 17" are 41 pounds!

Thanks! The weight that I posted for each will was including a tire on it and not the wheel by itself. I think the OEM wheel is about 20 LBS and the Rota's i have are about 21-23lbs per wheel alone.

DarrenDriven 07-12-2012 02:51 PM

Have you lowered the car yet? I'm curious to see if you have any rubbing issues in the front at full lock.

Not yet. I'll probably have it lowered by September if not earlier. I'm saving up for coilovers

zex 07-16-2012 12:48 AM

What are your opinions for 18x9.5 +35 for the rear?

dori. 07-16-2012 08:07 AM

wouldn't it be nearly identical to what's in this thread? that's only 3mm more out. Less than 1/8". But the look and feel etc is going to depend on your tire in the end

Nope. No rubbing issues at all on my car. I'll report back in a couple of days once the she setup has had time to settle in.

Amazing what a drop does for the looks, are your headlights modified?

BlaineWasHere 08-12-2012 09:15 PM

I was just about to get 17x9 grids and this ruined it... lol.

Yes, I cracked them open the first week I had the car to paint them black. I can't stand chrome headlights lol

Looks dope, thanks for posting up the pics and info

RyleyMA61 08-12-2012 11:40 PM

What's the ride like with the Eibachs compared to stock?

Phaedrus29 08-13-2012 12:18 AM

I'm considering some 18x8.5 +44 but don't really want an aggressive poke in front. How flush are the fronts before and after drop?

86_ZN6 08-13-2012 12:22 AM

time to powdercoat those calipers!
