I usually get Sunoco but....

I was out of town and running really low on gas so I pull into this Shell station. The big price sign wasn't working so I pull up to the pump and this is what I see.
This can't be right! So I hurried and filled my tank for less than ten bucks and drove off proud of myself that I got away with something. But then I started thinking... How can they sell gas for less than a dollar a gallon? Is Shell gas any good? And just what is this V Power Nitro anyway? It can't be water. Gas station water costs more than a dollar a gallon. Now I'm worried my car may blow up. Or God forbid I might get the crickets. The car seems to be running fine but I'm thinking maybe I should drain my tank. But I can't think of any way to tip the car over to get the gas out. Maybe I should just drill a hole in the gas tank. Then shove a cork into it. It's only plastic. What do you think? Am I overreacting? |

Come to Canada.
We are currently paying about $1.10 (CDN, so ~).80 US) per LITRE for premium. Enjoy your cheap gas. |

You should know better ......... :slap: Your car will be OK ...... the ECU will compensate. However, although your "receipt" shows one amount ....... when you receive your credit card bill, it will show a different amount. Yes, the old "nitro" scam preys on old folks in Florida ....... :sigh: humfrz |
You should grow corn in your backyard and process it into ethanol yourself, in your basement, in some big bathtubs.

I currently use Sunoco as well. Here in NYC it is about $2.49 a gallon for 93 oct and E85 is $2.09 a gallon.

Decimal point is in wrong place. Actually $9.49 a gallon!

This legitimately happened to me one day at a gas station across the street from where I worked. I think gas (at that time) was over the $4 mark and it was discounted to - I will never forget - $0.36, definitely a pricing error on the clerk. I quickly filled up and gtfo of there. It was fixed the next day needless to say.

Using Stop and Shop reward points we paid $.60/gal at Shell last week. We had $1.60/gallon discount built up. It was fkn awesome filling the Durango from dead empty for $14.40! I was so happy I took a picture on my phone, it was the lowest price I've ever paid for gas in my life.

I'm surprised nobody figured it out. This was a SHELL station. The thing I forgot to mention was that I had a Winn Dixie fuel perks card worth $1.60 per gallon. You're allowed to get up to 20 gallons. So Ha Ha I wasn't even driving the FR-S. I was driving my VW. So I could carry 3 five gallon gas cans. So I could get my full 20 gallons. Thanks to everyone for playing. Happy April. |

I'm only sort of old :) I remember my dad telling me why he got a Rambler American instead of something interesting for his first car in college. He said gas prices had gotten crazy and went over 25 cents a gallon... |
Is OP serious "is shell good gas?" They are one of like 3 of the largest oil companies in the world... yeah, their gas won't make your car explode

LOL I am sure more than one of figured you were up to something right from the get go. The give away for me was when you wanted to tip the car to drain it. Didn't want to blow the cover on your joke though! Fun part is you will probably get comments on this for weeks yet since nobody ever seems to bother reading beyond the first post of a thread before they contribute their wisdom. |
I read the first page and posted. Apparently I should have kept going
