Eibach Sportline's or ST Coilovers

My Budget is tight seeing as I am in college working everyday to get my car where i want it to be, but i have one question for you guys. Are coilovers a better option or the springs.

Depends on what you want to do with the car. If you never plan on taking it to the track then springs are the better way to go.

Alright man thanks for the input!

My suggestion get Eibach pro kit springs. Not sportlines. Or get coilovers. It is my opinion after reading through this forum, that sportlines are too low for stock shocks. You can upgrade the shocks to either Koni or Bilstein and use the sportlines, but you are only gaining .4 inch. For overall looks and driving feel, I feel money is better used buying different tires and wheels. Or just better tires and spacers.

If I can recommend that you should get the RCE yellow springs as they are the more comfortable spring and are highly well known to be a good spring option for this car.

This is also a great option. Getting better performing tires that are stickier will help your car perform much better. Using the stock wheels also saves some weight as most of the aftermarket wheel option that are inexpensive are much heavier than stock.

It will not have as much of a drop as the eibach sportlines but those drop the car too much where they aren't good for the stock struts at all.

strat61caster 03-30-2016 02:07 PM

imo quality springs > budget coilovers on this car unless you know exactly what you're doing, the only factor that would change my opinion would be competitive autocross. I would not hesitate to track this car on any reputable aftermarket springs on street tires in OE-ish size, combine with Bilstein's or Koni's down the road and it's probably the best bang for the buck.

ST's seem to have a good reputation though, do whatever you want.

^that

and sportlines are not quality springs

Then here is the only pic I have of my new wheels on the car. Just try to look at the fronts to give you an idea of the gap.. The fronts are 18x8.5+33 with 245/35 tires and the backs are 18x9.5+40 with 255/35 tires

Tein Flex Z seem to be the go to option for inexpensive coils

ST or Tien Flex Z have the best ride quality by far. BCs will slam the car but be a bit bouncy

I know a lot of people do not like but I love sportlines. I have 3 years on the car and I have no signs of breaking or anything. it's like the day I installed. I bought because of my tight budget and it makes the job :D

What wheels and tires are you getting? Specs on those matter a lot in terms of fitment

jawn 03-30-2016 03:25 PM

Superslam Hellastance Xtreme Eight-Way Adjustable Coilunders.

Back in my lowrider days, we used to take the springs out and put the car on "blocks". basically chunks of 4x4. LOL!

Define budget/money you are willing to spend. Also be more specific on what you expect changes/improvements wise, what means 'best' for You. There are different 'bests' at different budget levels and different bests for different niches at same price levels. Advise from track junkie won't do much to you if you value mostly daily driving comfort. Even more so at very lowest budgets, where very often one has to choose, what he is willing to sacrifice for specialized improvement in most important area for him. Or have just very slight improvements overall, far from 'best' vs specialising at their areas products.
