CNT Header review

Hey guys, just finished getting my cnt uel header in and i wanted to post my opinions.

Packaging: As seen elsewhere the packaging is god awful. t comes in a box surrounded by a plastic bag and that is it. When FedEx brought it to my house the box was banged up to hell, but the header was all good thankfully.

Install: The install wasn't too bad. The hardest thing was getting the header off the overpipe bolts. It took me and a friend quite a while, but we were taking our time having fun with it. (We were doing a whole bunch of installs on different cars)

Fitment: As i've read before the fitment was SLIGHTLY off. One flange slipped on great and it met the overpipe great and it left the left flange 1/8th of an inch off. With a little brute force we got it on and now everything is all good.

Quality: To me all the welds looked pretty good. The flanges were nice and flat. The only downside was the collector. It wasn't a formed collector but oh well.

Sound: I think it sounds great. From behind there is a really nice rumble but from within the cabin it almost sounds stock.

Overall: I think it was a great purchase. For $299 shipped you kind of can't beat it.

Now i want to add a catted frontpipe and a tune :party0030:
Sound clips when i get home.

Here are some shitty sound clips. I know going catless was going to give me more sound, but this sounds like something is lose? Or is it rasp from the Front pipe? Something just doesn't seem right unless its me being paranoid.

its not rasp, it seems to be an exhaust leak.

ort895 03-31-2016 11:07 AM

Yup, it was a really small leak in one of the welds. Got it fixed and now im all good. Definitely sounds way better!

Teseo 03-31-2016 11:20 AM

So it came with bad weld? Why not give it back and ask for a replacement?

ort895 03-31-2016 12:12 PM

i probably should, but i don't to go through the whole process of taking it off and putting the stock one back on only to do it again in a couple of days.

So after a couple of days i'm still loving it, just waiting on a tune to give a better review. So far i'm actually somewhat disappointed with how quiet it still is. I thought going catless would give me more volume, and it did, just not as much as i expected.
From behind it sounds pretty cool to me so ill get those posted up.

Did the torque dip go away?

I haven't gotten it dyno'd but you definitely can feel a little gain. With a tune it should feel pretty solid.

What exhaust do you have ? Probably exhaust will amplify the sound maybe ?

Most definitely, i really like the MXP RS. I was also thinking about getting a muffler delete and just welding in a 5 inch round muffler in.
Not really sure yet haha

You're better off doing what I plan on doing, which is buying a Topspeed pro1 axleback, nameless axleback with 4 or 5 inch muffler, or works AB-M. My plan is to get one of those not sure which

I was leaning towards the works but found a berk muffler delete for $100, so that plus a muffler would be way less than what the works or nameless is brand new.

ort895 04-04-2016 11:50 AM

Just got my tune loaded up and it feels good! Obviously not a rocket ship but it definitely pulls. I am a fan! now to get a catback!

Bowen 04-04-2016 12:05 PM

What'd you tune it with? OFT? Running 93? :D

here is another clip. And i must say after a week i am loving it. It pulls really nicely and my gas mileage has been suffering because i've been beating it to hell.

ort895 04-06-2016 10:27 PM

So I messaged the distributor about the leak, and he's going to refund me the cost of repair. (Asked if i wanted a new one but I don't feel like going through the trouble)

That's where I was planning on buying it before, but I decided I couldn't pass up the $250 deal on there own website so I swung on it, good to know there are some good sellers on eBay

Interesting me and you essentially have a similar car that's why I was so interested in your results, hows the OFT Stage 2 tune vs no tune vs stage 1 working for you?
