Sad day...

Without a doubt the worst day of my life yesterday. On my way to Import Alliance in Atlanta when someone two cars behind me wasn't paying attention and caused a 6 car accident. I was right in the middle in my RS1.0. Pretty sure it's totaled. Ruined my entire day...

That'll buff out.

themadscientist 03-19-2016 09:08 AM

That sucks.

Hopefully you get enough out of the settlement to get a brand new ride. Think, last year of the Scion.

Aozora.BRZ 03-19-2016 09:16 AM

Fckk!!!!! I can't imagine the how you must feel. Front proximity brake sensors must become mandatory for all cars. It is so unfair to go through this just because a guy behind you was texting.

NahumCC 03-19-2016 09:26 AM

Glad to see your out ok at least. Give it time and you'll be able to get another one and start over.

wbradley 03-19-2016 09:54 AM

Fokk...and now you will have to find a replacement which probably wont be an RS1. Sorry, man.

Exactly. I've already started looking and haven't had much luck. Thought about waiting for the new Focus RS to be released. I don't know, though. I'm from a small town and my RS1.0 was even more rare for my area. Nothing will be the same. I'm heartbroken, lol...

You could always upgrade to the RS2.0! But damn, that really sucks. I'd be really upset too if some asshole wasn't paying attention and caused a wreck. :/

Quentin 03-19-2016 10:17 AM

I'm guessing that you got pushed up under a truck of some sort?

I always liked the RS 1.0 cars! Sorry to see that but glad you're ok.

super-86 03-19-2016 10:34 AM

Most important thing is you're ok. Cars are replaceable, human beings arent!

Not quite sure what you mean by "easy life"....

What is it with Rs 1 owners and thinking they have some sort of holy grail of an FRS. It's a ground effects body kit slapped with a special color and a quad tip exhaust for an extra 5 grand... Don't be so down. For 5 grand you can build your own "RS1" and I bet you can do better than scion.

Anyways don't mean to sound insensitive.. Keep your chin up. Insurance will more than likely cover everything you need and just keep an open mind to potential possibilities.. Miata.. Facelift frs.. focus rs, whatever gets your jollies going.

Gotcha. It is what it is. Everyone is different. Obviously you and I value things differently.

Glad you're ok man. Other than the focus, any other cars on your short list? Hopefully you're not after the 2017 refresh (looks like a catfish to me now).

In the grand scheme of things, a ruined car isn't that bad. It really could be much worse, but I'm sure it ruined your day. It's a good excuse to get to try a different platform though.

I think maybe what @raven1231 is talking about, when you referenced the "worst day of your life", is that some of us have been through war, divorce, death of a spouse ...... events like that ...... :(

It's a shame about your car. Glad you are OK.

Yes this indeed. A wrecked car or lost material item is nothing as long as you're OK. Things could be much worse...

Celica00 03-19-2016 03:12 PM

Holy shit! My sympathies, friend. I'm happy that 1) You didn't cause it and 2) you're ok and 3) you can possibly get a settlement.

FR-Sky 03-19-2016 03:33 PM

I dont know what to say........
cheer up and get back on your feet soon!

It is a special edition and therefore is... well ...special. I would be pissed if my special edition (regardless of what that consists of) was destroyed. Sure of course you can make one that looks like it but that doesn't make it one. There are more 68 Malibu SSs on the road today then there was in 1968 but that doesn't mean they are the special edition car.

May be tough to replace with the same thing so maybe trying a new platform would be in order.

JD001 03-19-2016 03:45 PM

It always hurts when your pride and joy gets stuffed! Are you sure you're okay as the shock may have skewed your mind? Why you may be thinking.... Ford Focus RS!!!

Push button start, the seats, the paint, and the steering wheel will be expensive or difficult to replicate. If he wanted just a yellow FR-S, that in itself would've tough to replicate without losing a ton of money to do it right.

Glad you're okay and hoping you don't have any medical issues like whiplash or backaches. I'd feel the same way if that happened to me. Take care dude!

Zhangy 03-19-2016 09:27 PM

ill buy ur wheels

rookie 03-19-2016 09:31 PM

Sucks man, glad you're ok and still around for your family/friends. You'll be back in a new ride soon enough.

Whodunit 03-19-2016 09:43 PM

I wish a damaged car was the worst day of my life. Seems great.

I wish I was as bitter as you and wasn't able to recognize a little sarcasm. That definitely seems like the way to go..

Seriously though, my apologies if your decisions have somehow not worked out the way you had hoped. Sometimes life happens. It happened to me yesterday, but I'll get over it.

I mean.... valid perspective but damn man... car forum...

I get sick of watching Marines die myself but I try to keep that where it belongs, in my prayers.

You are right.

I don't doubt, though, that everyone has their own pain and suffering and it's all off topic. I think as far as this forum goes, what OP went through sucks pretty bad and it could be worse only a few ways, many of which involve bodily harm. So I guess I still stand behind the first half of what I said and there are better ways to support our troops when it comes to the second half.

If we stayed perfectly on topic in every thread then this would be a very dry and boring place. Smashing a car up realy sucks yes but I agree with many of the others that if it is "the worst day" of anybody's life then things are pretty good all in all.

That's why I am such a big fan of yours. But I am a very boring stand up straight kind of guy so the on topic angle is all I can really provide to the community. I do think picking on him for it being "the worst day" is kind of reaching because he's already pretty down but it's all in good fun I guess.... until divorce and death showed up and I was a little taken back.

mortybryant 03-19-2016 11:57 PM

I think it's safe to say that I was being just a bit sarcastic. Obviously things could be a lot worse.

As far as divorce, I've been through that as well. Trust me, that was nearly the exact opposite of what this is.

Truth is, the RS1.0 was my first car purchase. I had about $5k in mods, all of which I'm wondering if I'll get back or at least get compensated for, plus many more planned. Now I have to find another RS1 (no luck so far) and start over, or go with a different platform.

At the end of the day, I'm happy to be alive. Could've been much, much worse. But damn...

Picking on him is one thing but things like Hum said are another.
Us old guys like to provide some guidance and insight where we can. It is sometimes misunderstood though.

Did you declare your mods to the insurance?
As I understand in most States if not at fault then they are covered by the other guy's insurance.

I presume you were at a dead stop when he hit all of you? Here if moving even a little and somebody hits you and pushes you into the next car you are still found to be partially at fault because you were "to close".
